Ex-Gang Member Shot In The Head By His Own Brother / Wide Awake Podcast EP. 9
In this episode of the Wide Awake Podcast I spoke to Denzil Moses. We talked about what it was like growing up in a family full of rival gang members, how he survived a gunshot to the head by his own brother and how he managed to turn his life around.

I love what you're doing. But is there nothing more to Coloured peoples culture, history and identity than gangsterism? Are there no other voices to be heard other than gangsters and former gangsters? Is there no other representation for Coloured people?

Thank you Denzil for the inspiring words I'm from Mitchell's Plain and in a gang but tried changing my life after I got out serving 8years but temptation was too great but your words are much greater and it gives life.. .i got to the point where I no longer involve myself In negative stuff and with doing so friends are few but that is a good thing for me now I can focus on improving myself in becoming a better man. Thanks Denzil and Josh for this positive vibes.

I grew up in Durban, everything this man says is so raw. Drug dealers and gangsters were our role models, it's all we knew. Good on you brother for trading that lifestyle for the one you have now"I Salute you"

I chopped a few onions when he shared about his conversion. God bless the young man who saved his life.
"I am not going to give up my life for something that won't give me life" what a beautiful thing to say😢😢😢😢😢💖 "Stand in a gap"
Maybe I missed the question.. Has he ever seen that boy in the car again.. This guy gave me hope at my weakness today.. I was in tears with this story.. Love and light to the good you doing.. I'm in recovery 13 years now and this story just gave me more hope and faith just for today

Denzel must come back for a second installment. Much is missing from his amazing story, like his relationship with the small boy who prayed for him. Good job

Also man. About the demonization. Just avoid negative words like "dead, Kill or murder" avoid copyright music, avoid swearing and if any topics relate to a crime. Make up words to replace those words. And you should be Fine

Wow wow WOW thank you for this podcast what a testimony Denzil, life changing!
We enjoy your work. Keep it coming.
Wow, this was one of the realest interviews I’ve heard. It hits home so hard, man.. l had a hard time getting through it. We all were young boys at one time, before the pain, before the losses. When he said, he didn’t care about other people’s lives because he felt like no one was left who cared about him.. that’s the best explanation of what creates a killer. I’m happy this man found his peace and thank you so much
Very good pod cast. This was very easy to listen to. So inspiring. God is good ❤️
