Side bar- 😂 buying my wedding dress was the MOST FUN THING EVER!!! The bridal shop ladies were so nice and let me wear it around the shop for like an hour and they other brides I saw looked amazing and I loved telling them ❤ it was like such a great day and I only took my mom 😜

i’d like to remind the crowd that nia was in a wheelchair due to her chronic illness and was only back to dancing a year before dance moms started. she’s just absolutely incredible and you can tell she’s having such a good time when she dances.

@@trinitybernhardt9944 it’s only briefly mentioned on the show, when holly called abby a “monstrosity of evil”, it was because abby tried to deny nia’s pain after holly talks about it and threatens to take away the dance when holly tries to defend her. nia was treated so poorly on the show it hurts my heart.

@@adalon378they had different scholarships…..however Maddie, Brooke, and Chloe all won. Maddie won I think for contemporary or lyrical, Chloe won for ballet (she was more of a ballerina than really any of them), and Brooke won for acro.

Maddies reaction always makes me feel a certain way. Watching an 8 year old have an anxiety attack is so uncomfortable and it makes me so upset.

I believe Abby didn't cry becuse Maddie forgot her solo, but because she got some bad news about her mother's health. Editing in this show is wild.

The funny thing is, this isn't even the first time Cathy has entered her girls specifically to go against Abbey. At some point towards the end of season one she literally enters one of her girls who was like 14 at the time against Chloe who was 9, she used the same song, similar choreography and her girl didn't even place, Chloe won by a lot too. Same episode Vivie and a boy called Justice went against Nia and Mckenzie, same story Abbey's girls got 1st and Cathy's kids didn't even place. Edit: Yeah I know a lot of the drama was probably producers, but it just baffles me how someone can repeatedly give real children hope only for it to be impossible for them to win even if they were better. Whoever organised the competitions between the schools (whether it was Cathy or producers or both) was just cruel. Part of me feels like Cathy was at least partially at fault because it wouldn't make sense that Cathy was acting entirely based off producer feedback if the others (like Holly and Kelly) had some freedom in what they did like pulling dances and being honest/realistic in their interview sections.

Please remember that the producers staged so much of the drama on the show. Remember the Erica and Brooke situation? Cathy didn’t even know that that was happening because the producers went behind everyone’s back and did some slick stuff….so her reaction to the competition directors talking to her about Erica, and her talking about Erica’s birth certificate was actually real because Cathy didn’t even know.

Most of it was probably producer driven. Apparently Cathy said on her Instagram or Twitter that the producers made her change the music. She said the girl was one of her best students, but she struggled to match the movements of her real solo (the one she used in the actual competition season that she would've performed on the show) with Chloe's music. We'll never know for sure with this show, and with all the time that's passed who knows who's telling the truth, but I think it's more likely than Cathy somehow finding out what Chloe's solo music was from another state lol. (Hope that didn't sound mean, I just forget sometimes that Candy Apples is in Ohio, making some of these storylines very strange when you think about them. I'm assuming Vivi wasn't on the team by this point?)

For the Joffrey auditions they actually had more than one scholarship but to create drama the producers made it seem like there was only one and it was for ballet. There was ballet, contemporary or lyrical, and acro. Maddie won the contemporary one, Chloe won the ballet one, and Brooke won the acro one. As for Cathy, she has a theatre background hence why when she was on the show for the first 1-2 seasons she was doing all of these crazy antics because it brought in more views for the show however…..that also caused her and her family to receive so much hate online, as well as people not wanting to come to Candy Apples and according to Cathy….every night this random old lady would call on the phone to bother them. So after a while she decided to step away from the show which is why we stopped seeing Candy Apples until like season 5.

It’s also important to note that this Joffrey isn’t the same as like *the* Joffrey Ballet. The school in NYC is not affiliated with the Joffrey, unlike the Joffrey Ballet Academy in Chicago

I live close to this old studio and it was sold in the past couple years to a school bus transportation company - doesn't have the Abby Lee Studios sign on the wall anymore, its like loosing a piece of Pop Culture - but I hum the theme when I drive past it.

The funny part is that Abby is the first one to say save your tears for the pillow and then cries for half a competition day.

Im like an excited dog rn thats wagging their tail sm its not even cute anymore 😭😩

A few I recommend for the last episodes for S2!!! Ep 20 Abby shows off Maddies crowns to girls & drama with Nia’s hair Ep 21 Abby calls Chloe something absolutely horrendous, Jill being sneaky for Kendall Ep 24 Black Patsy and Nicaya join. Lots and lots of drama between the Mums and so many moments where im gagged🫣 A very iconic episode Ep 26 Nationals also a lot of drama as the mums have to vote which girls should have a solo in front of them 😬 There’s so many iconic S2 eps so if you were to do just one of the ones I said definitely Ep 24 imo is filled with the most drama😌

the craziest season 2 episode has been wiped from existence, its called topless show girls, their group dance was called fantastic and they wore nude crop tops to look like they were well topless. more normal crazy are episodes like worst birthday party ever where leslie and chrisi fight or the new girl town where we get nicaya and her mum kaya (they called her black patsy on the show) of course we have nationals 90210 which owns my heart because chloe brooke and kenzie national champions

One of the reasons why Cathy probably doesn't always win (aside from it being rigged because reality tv) is due to the fact that what she did with Vivian and that other boy (I forgot his name sorry) she did ALL the time. It's probably something the judges are fed up with, because usually Vivian is used "as a prop" often, which sometimes is literal. I'm surprised they didn't have the boy dance a little bit as he is very good, but Vivian really can't dance so he might have been added to make it look less awkward. Either way, it's a tactic Cathy does A LOT if you watch the show enough whether it be the show itself, or clips online. Sometimes she'll have him added to dance along side a bunch of girls, or if she uses Vivian she just stands in the background, or is physically moved around like a prop.

I agree with the fact that Maddie had very similar solos in season 1 and 2, like not diverse in genre at all. I also think Abby knew Maddie could always win 1st with lyrical and it just got overdone.

@@averyeagle4155 I know lol. She said herself that she was just playing a part and back then Abby took the things she said personally which is why the show ruined their friendship for years. Now they’re on talking terms again but still. I get alot of info from Christi and Kelly’s podcast ‘Back To The Barre’. They break down the Dance Moms episodes and tell you the behind the scenes of things that really happened. For instance, most of the times Cathy came into the ALDC dressing room, the producers forced her to go in there. Or when Abby and Jill threw water on her she was actually sick with pneumonia which is why she was so angry and hit Abby with the purse.

For whatever it's worth, Maddie is regarded as Box Office Poison. Her first movie, The Book of Henry, nominated for a Razzy as Worst Film of the Year. Her second film, Music with Sia was a thorough embarrassment. Her other major opportunity was a featured role in West Side Story, an iconic film with Natalie Wood. The remake was done by Stephen Spielberg. Maddie actually WON the Razzy as, Worst Supporting Actress of the Year. Her early promise did NOT materialize.
