The fisrt trans person we know of was a trans woman in ancient egypt... Tho oldest thing about intersex people I know about is Hermaphroditos, who is either a child of Aphrodite, or a intersex version of her. Also, like 90% of greek gods were bisexual... Also Achilles was definitely bi. It's not just that people didn't know about these things back in the day, it's that someone who'd say something like that, has no idea about actual history...

As a trans teacher I always start class with “good morning/afternoon everyone” while my colleague says “ladies and gentlemen”. She has criticized me a few times for using “everyone“ as it isn’t specific enough. It’s exactly as specific as it needs to me. (Side note: everyone at school knows I’m trans since my first day)

  • @TheWilderCat

It's technically more specific but it's specifically excluding enbies. Why do you need to specify ladies and gentlemen? I could even see "it's not as professional" but this doesn't make sense on any level.

teachers that use ‘boys and girls’ ‘ladies and gentlemen’ etc have always made me so uncomfortable, not only because i’m non binary, but it also reinforces this separation between the two, of course they’re different but they all go to school for one key reason, to learn. it feels like saying the two should act different. one of my old teachers used to do this really weird thing of going high pitched and feminine tone when saying “ladies” and then go really deep and grumpy when saying “gentlemen” it was very cringe, very weird, we were like 9.

Something that my school does is that *ALMOST* every teacher addresses the class as “everyone” or just “class” and it’s nice bc no one gets their feelings hurt. They also just added a “love is love” poster in the hall and there are a few rainbow decorations that the art students made. I like my school.

I skipped up to her and told her that a creepy guy was hitting on me, and asked if she'd pretend to be my boyfriend for the night. She agreed, and later even kicked creepy dude out. A few months later she came out to me. Seeing the meme about forgetting deadnames made me realize that I legit dont remember her deadname. Like, I remember what letter it started with. I only still remember my trans friends dead name because he was the first person who really opened me up to the idea of other genders and sexualities. And we lived in a small town so making people accept his official name was nearly impossible. So before he turned 18 and was able to properly transition into the amazing man he is and change his name. We used a gender netural version of his dead name. We lost touch mostly after graduating but I will never forget his impact on my life. I think his road to finding himself and the courage he had really was the turning point for me seeking knowledge outside of my small town little bubble of basic information. Now I m proud to be open minded and a very loud trans and LGBT+ ally

A childhood friend recently came out officially as transmasc nonbinary. They had told me several years ago that they didn’t feel comfortable as a female, so I wasn’t surprised. As someone who hasn’t had much experience with the trans community, I’m glad I discovered your channel a few weeks ago. It’s helped me casually learn more about trans and non-binary people and get more comfortable using they as a pronoun for a singular person. So thanks for your content ❤️

@Earl Jones make cis people more comfortable by just shitting on the floor, cause y’all really don’t like it when we go in ur bathrooms. It’s weird that adults even have gendered bathrooms in public society. Like are y’all so unwilling to address the assumptions about gender relations that lead to grown people thinking they can’t piss next to each other without getting assaulted. Maybe think more about that than “that woman doesn’t look like how I like women to look! She is wrong! I wish to lay eyes only upon CERTAIN LOOKING WOMEN.” Weird shit to put on a stranger.

@@omnipossum92 gotta be really careful with your tone of voice if greeting Australians with mate, as if you sound a little aggressive the meaning is flipped (Profanity warning approaching) Like, among strangers it's common to say mate in a friendly tone, but just as common among friends to say "sup cunts?" Yet if you refer to a stranger as cunt it's easy to appear rude, and pausing between g'day and mate could make someone feel like they've severely wronged you. Also "old mate" is often used in place of they, regardless of gender, age or familiarity.. Like "just had my car serviced and old mate thinks I need new tires too"

@@MotoCat91 @MotoCat I hear that about "cunt" much on the internet but i was kinda shocked first time I heard it in a friendly way. Maybe I am just a sheltered Melbournian. I also see "mate" like "buddy". It's not exactly the same but you can call someone your buddy legitimately or be all "Hey, buddy! Fuck you!" Also, TIL about "old mate".

My husband, children and friends have all forgotten my dead name, but (almost) my entire family had not. Even those in my family who are supporting can't seem to change my name in their heads and my own mother refuses to even acknowledge it at all except when she wants to tell me I'm wrong and confused. This is painful at times and then I remember all my close friends and the man I love most in the world have all accepted everything about me.

I'm gender fluid and my pronouns can change from day to day. The other day I was wearing two little pronoun badges with they and he on them. At some point in the day on of my friends asked me what the badges were and quickly one of my friends stepped in a said: "see. This one is he and this one is they and these are the pronouns SHE wants us to use today"😂 the moment she said you could see how inbarassed she was but I just thought it was so sweet how hard she was trying and we had a good laugh about it💕😊
