Bamboo GTR Review: • Evolve Bamboo GTR review!
Evolve's Cabon GTR is my new favorite electric longboard. It's my new go to. It's super sleek. It's fast. Range is great. Controller is... ok. Wish this thing went backwards.
What other boards should I take a look at?
Big thanks to my brother Doron for the help on this one: / doronsheffer

Great reviews! Love these boards and it was an instant addiction. I’ve bought two ( barely) used carbon GTR in the last month. One is AT and the other street. I wanna get about 6 or 8 more boards now. I’m doing all small errands with the board now and my v8 truck stays parked at home where it should. I wanna get a hadean but I’m really hoping evolve comes out with a new board stepping it up with battery capacity mainly. Other company’s are already offering larger batteries but it seems like evolve has the nicest looking boards and by far the best remote? with the Hadean. Thanks for the great reviews I watched before buying.

you should try EXWAY! Exway makes boards go break and backwards just like boosted if you turn the "Free Mode" on in its settings. And they are working on a all terrain board as far as I know, so I think it will be a great competitor to Evolve!

Now have the exway flex as my backup board if this ever has to go in for repairs. Both are decent boards... Evolve excels with the trucks. That's one thing that sucks about exway, if they used double kingpins that would make them more competitive imo.. looking into the surf adapter to make it more like double kingpins, it's hard switching between the 2 I just gravitate towards the double kingpins so yeah hopefully the surf adapter will make the flex carve better.

If you’re into speed, the backfire zealot is an awesome belt drive budget board with a top speed of 28.5mph. Not quite the same range but will still get you 14-17miles. They come stock with 96mm wheels but you can put 105mm or 120mm aftermarket wheels on. And they started making kegal pulleys. Unfortunately it doesn’t have a reverse function like the boosted boards, it can go in reverse but you have to flip a switch on the controller.

The aesthetic is a bad argument for choosing the carbon. The carbon is superior because it is lighter, thinner, faster, more stable on high speeds and protects the battery by keeping it internal, aesthetics is the least of the reasons.

@@coolstar2398 can’t say of the ride on AT wheels. Carbon is thinner (maybe faster for this), stiffer (again - depending on layup), and sure looks nice. Weight diff is negligible, cep maybe for hauling back up the hill. But that stiffness comes at a cost - with every minor road/wheel vibration coming up to the feets. Not an opinion - it’s just the way carbon-lam is. Carbon is a hard rain.

The reverse on the boosted is the most underrated feature, just like you said, when it comes to intersections, knowing that you could do an instant reverse just gives you a sense of security if something is in your way, the double kingpin truck is fine, but I also like how boosted flex a little for a city ride, the sad thing is Bamboo GTR has the flex but look not even close to how the Carbon one shines, a very hard choice to make >_

The Backfire G3 Plus: - is half the price ($1000 vs $2000) - is faster (29mph vs 26mph) - still has a carbon fiber deck - has comparable range - has a more natural remote design - has lights for visibility it's a much better alternative to the carbon GTR imo, plus the board doesn't turn off when you're riding, so that's nice too :)

Nice video Sam. Check out the Verreal RS. It has similar components to Evolve but half the price. You don’t get the customization or design aesthetic from Evolve but it does have larger motors and better hill climb. And If your are handy, you can customize it to your taste. If interested I did a transformation vid.

What about trying the Metroboard X? I think it stacks up to Evolve and "passes" it in many respects. It has reverse, carbon fiber deck, 6374 Brushless Motors, 31 mph Top Speed with Street Wheels / 31 mph Top Speed with 155 mm AT Wheels / 28 mph Top Speed with 190 mm AT, 30 mile range with Street Wheels / 20 mile range with AT wheels, 4 Watt High Power Lighting (you can now upgrade top 12W) in Front, Rear, and Underbody as well, Automatic Belt Tensioning , Double Bushing Precision CNC Machined Aluminum Trucks and it has the remote "wheel" style remote and an APP.

So far I've seen several post the Lacroix and one person mention Kaly.nyc get a Kaly board ,local. Both these boards are creme-dela-creme. Right now Kaly boards are sold out!.. I came to NYC from California to pick up the boards and cruise around with the owner, Ernesto, Hella cool guy. You can go to his shop in the Bronx and do a video picking up your Kaly board or something. Guaranteed you'll use the Kaly more than your GTR.

It looks really sweet, I am just worried about 2 things: 1. Reversing, as you mentioned, seems very important for that complete stop and adjustments without getting off the board. 2. Battery replacement/life. One of the great things of boosted was the replacable battery. This could give you a 100% refill in a second with a second battery. How easily replaceable is the battery on this board? Overall it's really sweet, but for $2000+, it needs to be almost perfect.

10 screws to open up the carbon and put in a new battery. Takes maybe 5-10 minutes. But with a battery that big its rare you use a full charge let alone want a whole second battery
