  • @electrifiedreviews

    @electrifiedreviews

    Thanks! The street wheels are far better imo. They offer much better maneuverability and have a super low center of gravity. The off road wheels are cool, but I rarely use them unless I have a specific trail in mind. In other words, I the off road wheels are just not a great fit for the road, though you can use them on the road.

    I'm coming from a one-wheel pint and one-wheel XR. Saw a guy in town have one of these and rode with him and it looked pretty cool. I love the range and the speed The only thing is 4 hours to charge is there a hypercharger? If you want to do a charge and eat somewhere where you can plug in at a park I don't think you're going to get a full charge. So you're pretty much just going out using the full battery and that's it.

  • @bdrlgin

    @bdrlgin

    7 жыл бұрын

    You can buy the 2in1, only all-terrain, or only street version. So three options. You can buy extra sets of everything so you can buy the street wheels after the fact or visa versa but it would make sense just to get the 2in1 right away if your budget permits. I'm personally about to pull the trigger on the 2in1 but in Bamboo instead of Carbon just to save a little cash plus I like the style of it. I'd be keeping the all-terrain wheels on 90% of the time so I could go through grass, gravel and other nonsense I shouldn't be in hahaha!

    Best way to figure out which foot to put forward is to stand flat footed, with your feet shoulder width apart, and then have someone gently push you forward. Whichever foot you put forward to stop yourself is your natural stance.

  • @electrifiedreviews

    @electrifiedreviews

    7 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! Glad it helped. I got the smaller wheels, 83mm, because I wanted to be closer to the road and I wanted maximum torque. You can go all the up to 100mm I believe and while that will help squeeze out a few extra mph it will reduce torque and the center of gravity. Really it's all about preference though.

    Thanks! I've owned a few Metroboards in the past but those are about the same price as this. There are more affordable alternatives but with e boards you really do get what you pay for. The only other thing I would maybe suggest if you're trying to stay on a budget is building one yourself.

    you should do an update when you find out about battery sag, or how support can be with evolve. (they also have issues with the back motor mount, and at wheels, as those aren't off road trucks) There are pluses and minuses to most boards, evolve isn't any better than a lot of brands.

    Thanks, man! I ended up having a lot of problems with my Metroboaeds and actually got rid of all of them. Between the motor and breaking failures it just wasn't for me. I did like the massive range though. So far the Evolve has been good to me. Only put like a 100 miles on it but still... Zero issues. The off-road aspect is amazing too.

  • @Psyniigianni

    Brent McCluskey can you explain more about the problems you were having with your Metroboards? I have a few eskates myself and I just pulled the trigger on the Metroboard dual. I want to get an Evolve Carbon GT also, but every time I go to their website they are sold out. What was the problem with Metroboard motor? Did you have brake issues because of the infrared remote?

  • @electrifiedreviews

    @electrifiedreviews

    7 жыл бұрын

    +PsyniiGianni Scott Well, first of all, the Metroboards are great boards in their own right. I mean, 40-mile range? Nobody can beat that. That being said, my issues with them were two-fold. First was the motors themselves. I took them up some pretty steep hills in San Francisco and I think it over stressed the motors or something. On each board the motors would eventually end up making unbearable clicking noises and lose power. The other issue I had was with the reliability of braking. Whether it was in issue with the infrared or what, there was far too many times where the brakes would engage, then a moment later disengage. This happened at night too, so don't know what the deal was, but it ended up with me actually getting hit by a car (I was totally fine thankfully). Basically, I just don't think it's safe to rely on the brakes, at least not on the first version. I haven't tried the new version yet, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on the dual-motor one once you get it.

  • @Psyniigianni

    @Psyniigianni

    7 жыл бұрын

    Brent McCluskey oh shit!! You got hit by a car, that's not good. I'm hoping all of those issues are resolved with the new remote. Fortunately I have other boards to ride if anything goes wrong. It would suck because I dropped 1900 large on this board if I had those same problems. I also bought 2 other boards in addition to the Metoboard dual so no worries their either. I would just like to stay in one piece lol. What did Ilan say when you told him about the issues you were having? Did he offer to fix it?

    Pros and Cons of each wheel type? Which do you like better if you only had to use one?

  • @electrifiedreviews

    @electrifiedreviews

    7 жыл бұрын

    Between the street wheels and off-road wheels? I'd have to pick the off-road ones just because of the versatility, though you can swap them out in just a few minutes so I'd recommend both. That's one of the biggest selling points of this board, at least for me. As far as the different sizes of street wheels, the bigger you go the more shock absorption you'll have and the higher top speed. However, the board will also sit taller, raising the center of gravity. In the end it comes down to preference, but for the street wheels I personally prefer the 83mm size.

  • @jessepatterson8897

    @jessepatterson8897

    you can't combine a mountain board and a skateboard, the trucks are far too different. Riding on street trucks with AT wheels isn't a true off roader.

    Hey Brent. Nice review, appreciate the time and effort you put into these. How is acceleration and top speed compared to the metroboard? I got the Micro Slim, which I love. But I'm rocking 240 lbs so it mostly cruises at 15 mph. Is the GT a big difference, or just marginally better speed wise compared to the Micro Slim?

  • @electrifiedreviews

    @electrifiedreviews

    7 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! I really liked the MicroSlim actually. Great size, just the deck had too much concavity so it wore out my legs too quickly. Acceleration and top speed blows the original Metroboard out of the water (haven't tried v2 yet so can't speak to that). I weigh close to 200 pounds and carry at least 20 pounds of gear with me and with 100 percent battery I can cruise at 21 mph, according to the remote. Once the battery starts to get depleted it drops to 19mph, but never goes lower than that.

Maybe it's the double bushings... I don't know. But I weigh 200 pounds and carry about 20 pounds of gear with me and I haven't had any issues. But if you're worried about it maybe try harder bushings? If you do let me know how you like them.

    Brent McCluskey I'd say the metroboard also has better build quality and beefy motor mounts. Their new remote is much safer than the evolve remote. They also have a dual drive now, more torque than the evolve GT on that one, they use two 6374 motors for 6000 watts vs the 5065 motos for 3000 watts in GT. Metroboard also has better customer service. Besides that the evolve GT is better in terms of looks, weight, top speed, and versatility. Here is the ollin board www.ollinboardcompany.com/product/dual-esc-integrated-power-system-longboard-deck

    They will drag slightly but it's not that bad. Honestly if you want to pump a lot and not use the battery, this may not be the board for you because of the belts. The InBoard M1 has hub motors (as well as a few other lesser-known manufacturers) and there is zero drag when pumping. Granted, the speed and range is far less, so it just depends on what you're looking for.
