What evolution after 1987 and Stafka Kostadinova? Her record still stand strong - 209sm. The best ever woman high jumper with 197 jumps over 2m in official tournaments. She is in class of her own.

What happened to the straddle technique? This video is incredibly incomplete! It goes from scissors and western rolls and then "jumps" to the fosbury flop, leaving out many years where the straddle was the main method (jumping off inner foot with back leg going up high and then stomach rolling over the bar.) Rosemarie Ackermann won with this style at '76 Olympics.
With the record height of the jumps add on this video will be even so better..

Ulrike Meyfarth, Heike Henkel and Stefka Kostadinova are easy names to remember for me. I struggle to remember Sara Simeoni and Tamara Bykova.
They should make two forms of high jump - vertical and horizontal jump.

Sara Simeoni in Moscow 1980 ? Stefka Kostadinova had debut in Seoul 1988, lost to Louis Ritter.

It's not. Progress stops with Stefka Kostadinova in 1987-a and the record stand still- 209sm
from 1972 until now... Fosbury Flop's are the best.
