Just wack 50 kilos off the weight & the Sportster would be the perfect retro bike. My favourites are the XLCR, the XLXR1000, the XLX & the XR1200

Both of my XLCHs were pre-1971 kick-only sporty machines. Had a ton of fun on both back in the early '70s.

Nice video cataloging the changes over the years. Only thing I wished for was a final shot that superimposes the latest model over the first XLCH to see how little the thing has really changed between then and now. Sportster is an amazing motorcycle, even if H-D keeps trying to morph it into something it's not (i.e. a cruiser or poor man's Super Glide).

The bike shown as a 1996 XL1200 is a 2003 anniversay edition, but other than that this is a pretty cool video!

Great video, interesting to see the changes over the years. Or rather, the lack thereof. Jesus man, I'm a cruiser driver myself. I appreciate the classic look, upright ergonomics, carrying capacity and long range comfort they offer over the sporting variety. Being said, there are no excuses (aside from appeasing the ever dwindling braindead marketplace) for the archaic and unnecessarily underpowered engines.
