A correction about Live for Speed. It's still being developed by Scawen Roberts, Eric Bailey, Victor van Vlaardingen to this day. Soon there will be graphics upgrade, which will visually bring the sim into the present day with day/night cycle, dynamic lighting, better shadows and many more stuff. Live for Speed is a sim from 2023, not from 2002. In 2002 just started it's developing. Sometimes this is hard to comprehend in the world today, where they are releasing games every year with hundred DLCs.

Yes, but 2002 was the original release. Just like iRacing. Also I had no idea about the upcoming update, I'll check it out, thanks a lot 😊

Also, VR support is not a community-made feature - it was Scawen Roberts who implemented it himself.

to add to it, it's not free. only the demo version is, which is meant to be just a small sample of what the game has to offer

In my opinion F1 2000 was actually better than F1 2001. Surely nostalgia is a huge factor for me, as I spent my childhood playing F1 2000, while F1 2001 I tried just a few years ago, but still. The driving in F1 2000 feels a lot better to me and also the destruction model is somewhat better. Not to mention the infinite possibilities in F1 2000, like jumping off the track (with invulnerability on and low wing angles or with wings broken off and then invulnerability turned on) and for example driving around the sea in Monaco. I figured out how to run F1 2000 on Win10 just a few days ago and I spend about another 20 hours in it as it's still super fun. In my opinion it was one of the last awesome games EA ever produced. Also you can change many settings of the car, so that it drives perfectly on the track you're going to race on. Also I think it's because of my experience with what EA managed to create in 2000, that I just can't stand the Codemasters F1 games... Like if F1 2000 could be created then, how come F1 2022 is so bad? And also why is it so restrictive? It makes me sad. But to end with a positive, I was really surprised with Grand Prix 2 (1995) which you mentioned in the video with it's car models. Considering it came out just a year after The Need for Speed (btw how could you not mention this masterpiece in the video?), I'm stunned with the car model detail. Like the games I loved in my childhood in the 2000s have never had such great car models. Also it might be caused by the fact that I've never had a particularly powerful PC, that could run all the games on max details but still, it's very impressive to me, how great these models are looking. I know my comment is very subjective, please forgive me, The Need for Speed and F1 2000 are together with FMS and Ysflight (both flight simulators) the games of my childhood and I truly love them :D By the way, do you know if there is any way to get Ferrari Virtual Academy today? I've never been able to find it anywhere for download or purchase (I haven't bought it when it came out), only Ferrari Virtual Race, which is also a great game, but it just doesn't have F1 cars :D

Hi, thanks for the amazing comment! I had no idea about the whole F1 2000 & F1 2001 business, thanks a lot for explaining that. I didn't include The Need for Speed, because first of all, I already had a game for 1994, which was important and secondly, The Need for Speed went along the arcade route. The driving model and everything was centered around fun not realism as the others :) Ferrari Virtual Academy... well... As us with many old games today, community websites. Yes, piracy basically. I had to illegally download too many games, just because they aren't available to buy or get anywhere, and same with FVA. I'd love a website that would speialize in selling games that aren't on the market anymore.

@@zoomingpast no, he first racing game with simulation pretensions on a home system is believed to have been Chequered Flag, released by Psion on the 8-bit ZX Spectrum in 1983. REVS, followed in 1986. REVS was a Formula 3 sim that delivered a semi-realistic driving experience by Geoff Crammond that ran on the Commodore 64 and BBC these and the first real Sim Racing games.
