The White Star Line was originally founded in 1845 by Henry Threlfall and John Pilkington. The shipping line operated a fleet of sailing clippers, sailing from Great Britain to Australia.
In 1867, the Bank of Liverpool went bankrupt, which left the White Star Line with a debt of £527,000, which resulted in the bankruptcy of the White Star Line.
On 18 January 1868, the White Star Line flag and name were purchased by Thomas Ismay for £1,000. The first ship built for the White Star Line (under the ownership of T Ismay) was the Oceanic, built by Harland and Wolff, Belfast in 1870.
On November 23, 1899, Thomas Ismay died and by this time his son J Bruce Ismay had taken over his father as head of the White Star Line.
In 1902, the White Star line was purchased by IMM, led by JP Morgan. J Bruce Ismay remained with the company as managing director and became the president of IMM.
On 10 April 1912, RMS Titanic, the sister ship to RMS Olympic, collided with an iceberg on 14 April and sank with 1496 losing their lives. The Titanic disaster is one of the worst disasters in maritime history.
J Bruce Ismay retired as president of the IMM in 1913 and left the White Star Line at the same time.
In 1927, White Star Line was purchased from IMM by Lord Kylsant and it wasn't long before White Star Line was in dire financial straits, mainly caused by the Great Depression and Lord Kylsants taking over the line.
The last ship built for the White Star line, Georgic (II), in 1931
On 10 May 1934, former rivals Cunard and White Star merged, so the British government would give them around £10 million to finally complete Cunards Queen Mary. The new company resulting from the merger was called Cunard White Star.
In December 1949, the last shares of the White Star line were purchased and the White Star portion of Cunard White Star was removed.
The SS Nomadic (1911) has recently been returned to Belfast, where it has been restored and opened to the public after being in France for many years.
The Cunard line is still in operation and has one of the largest passenger ships in the world, the Queen Mary 2, which has been in service since January 2004, the Queen Victoria, which entered service in 2007, the Queen Elizabeth, which entered service in 2010 and the future Queen Anne ship due to enter service in 2023

The RMS Queen Mary is now a hotel and tourist attraction in Long Beach, California. The ship has also played host to many movies, the most recent being the 'Titanic 666' movie released in March 2022.

É triste imaginar o destino das navegações antiquadas por assim dizer, independente da companhia que construir seja qual navio for, pensar que ou naufragaram, ou foram aposentados e sucateados e teve suas peças vendidas, digo também pelo fato do quesito do visual dos navios, são imponentes, a popa da uma sensação do navio ser elegante, se eu vesse talvez um pessoalmente, eu concerteza ficaria impressionado como algo do tipo: Foi realmente pessoas que realmente o construiram? Seria interessante ter ter a proeza de talvez um dia ver um.
Even after the company is gone, I still wanna sail on a white star vessel cuz I think it will be an awesome experience for 1 and 2, the company has made luxurious vessels that still stand out even today. I just wish the company can come back in some shape or form.

10:20 eu reconheço este porta aviões ele era igual o que foi afundado pelos japoneses tbm chamado de HMS Hermes e que tbm ele foi antecessor do HMS Eagle e dps do Ark Royal (na qual fiz uma réplica dedicada a ele) ambos o Eagle e o Ark Royal foram torpedeados e afundados pelos alemães
Curiosidade: de todos esses navios, o germanic é o white star liner que ficou mais tempo em operação comercial (excluindo os auxiliares) mas nunca foi reconhecido por esse feito.

The ships before the oceanic class wasn't the white star line you'd think, the old white star line was owned by Henry Wilkinson, the oceanic class and after on was owned by Thomas Ismay, yhen after thomas ismay died Bruce Ismay owned the line.
oceanic II was actually built in 1899 and sank within 1914

It’s insane how far humans have come in building ships. Rest in peace those ships who have sunk. This company is legendary. At least for me. After Titanic the ships got really filled with more safety. Titanic is a history human lesson that will always be remembered. Lesson: ,,Never mess with Nature. We can’t control if Nature will sink the ship. We called Nature to sink us. Nature hates showoffs. So Nature send somthing to sink the ship so We would learn this lesson. I guess Nature did the right thing”. I know I got too poetic there. But I guess it is true. The Titanic is famous becouse not of no safety but is famous becouse We humans learned our lesson. Love the video. Poor Olympic sisters tho. Olympic really carried the Titanic’s and Britannic’s legacy. Rest in peace… 10:39-12:13

For me “the big four” (Celtic, Cedric, Baltic and Adriatic) is the better one despite being much smaller than the Olympic Class because somehow Adriatic who was launched after Lusitania revolutionized the ship industry.
