I always appreciated that in the RBFF games, if you lived a Hououkyaku, Kim would nod in approval, but if you got KO'd by it, he was shake his head in disappointment. Such a nice little subtle touch to show Kim's personality

The old games were full of so much creativity it was amazing. Like what they lacked in graphics and power processor they made sure they make it up by using whatever it was at their hands to the max. Something newer games have gotten so lazy about

Thanks to SNK too! Because of them I master Kusanagi art style! Now I can create fire like Kyo Kusanagi 🔥

I appreciate how KOF 94 and 95 respected the original sequence of attacks from FF2: knee, punch, back leg knee/kick, side kick, axe kick, crouching spin kick, hook kick, round kick, hien zan. 2002 and NeoWave also had a similar tribute, as well.

Can't help but notice after you mentioned it. 2002's and NeoWave's also retain his knee animation. Nice touch.

It's great to see Kim Kaphwan back in KoF, since he's been in almost all the games.

Kim looks phenomenal in XV. Now, if only SNK would quit stalling and give us the full team with both of his sons. Do it you cowards!

The origin of Kim Khaphwan's name is the name of the CEO of the company that distributed the KOF series in Korea

Small trivias. Kim Sue-Il from Kizuna Encounter, the descendant of Kim Kaphwan (Fatal Fury/KOF), was the first character to make a phoenix at the end of the Houou Kyaku. Kizuna Encounter came before Real Bout Special. The aerial version of the Houou Kyaku started thanks to a bug in KOF94 Sometimes the best things happen by mistake ^_^

Also this. Tensho Houou Kyaku is heavily referencing Kim's Houou Kyaku from Real Bout Fatal Fury, especially with the Hienzan ending with two blows and the afterimage of a phoenix after Kim sends his opponent flying.

A curious bonus: Ryo's ryuko ranbu also had the same bug back in '94, but only Kim kept the aerial super. Makes sense, since Ryo became solely a grounded character and Kim kept his aerial moves.

Well, she's quite like a "female Kim", so when they decided to add a female student, they came up with May Lee, who has her own twist. A bit like Dong Hwan and Jae Hoon, only a more pronounced difference.

Kim looked way better before KOF2002 Those horrible ass pants are too damn overrated. The only game where that animation looked organic and well done was in KOF XIII.

@@simiroth9461 Andy's design in KOF 2001 and 2002 is awesome as well. The newcomers from the Eolith era are amazing characters (K9999, Angel, Igniz, May Lee, Kusanagi) The new Desperation Moves for Athena (Psychic Medley is her best Super), Lin, Iori, Kyo are cool! The Eolith era gave us great things.

That last axe kick in XIII is super satisfying.

I'm really glad you also kept in the Capcom vs. SNK games. Those were my introduction to a lot of the KoF characters, so it's very nostalgic to hear that version.

The RB1 from 95 version was historically important to define the tone of the voice during the screams, and especially define the scream from the end. That became the main model for the other games. It's only in KOF 02 that it started changing a little.

The 2002 version is my favorite.

His Real Bout Fatal Fury and KOF 15 versions are the best! 😁😎

It can also be titled "Kim Glorious Pants Evolution" and I'm not even mad 👍

I still prefer kof 13 one of the best graphics and pants animation 👌

At first I thought XIII's Max was the best, but then came XV, took what XIII did and improved it. That sense of sheer speed was as good as XIII, but the phoenix at the end was the cherry on top.

15’s climax has the other phoenix incorporated into it; the voice over of early kof, real bout’s phoenix summon and hienzan, 13/14’s teleports, and the camera work of Maximum Impact.

think of it when : Kim, Gang-Il, and Chae Rim make into the roster. we would have 3 generational Taekwondo-ins.

Hay un detalle que me parece curioso del Neo Max de Kim en Kof XIII. Todos los Neo Max tienen un efecto visual y sonoro caracteristico, el escenario se vuelve negro y la musica de fondo casi ni se escucha, para darle un toque de impacto a cada movimiento. Pero con Kim, el escenario se aprecia en todo el Neo Max (Excepto al castearse) y la musica no deja de sonar. No se si hicieron eso a proposito, pero me parece algo genial. Todos los personajes a parte de sus habilidades de combate usan algo externo al pelear, como los poderes Psiquicos de Athena y Kensou, las llamas de Kyo, Ash, K', los pequeños restos de la sangre Orochi de Iori, pero Kim en su mayoria (si no es que su totalidad) depende unicamente de su fuerza Fisica. Kim no es mas fuerte que Kyo, Ash, Iori, Terry, etc. Pero aun sin contar con algo especial, es un personaje de temer, un verdadero heroe y defensor de la justicia.

01:39 Fatal Fury Wild Ambition is my favourite. I just love the flow of the animation, and its the only game in the universe I ever sat down to play.

I wonder if Kim will be in the up coming Garou with his sons. Not sure what happened to him in that storyline.

Underrated Houou Kyaku from FFWA. Give it KOFXV graphics and you get an excellent version of it. I like how he juggles with the opponent here.

You gotta love the XIV MAX version. Anime though it is, it is still one of the most satisfying and savage beat downs with a great finisher.
