Fun fact: for the crash bandicoot 2 crushed animation, it was cut in Japanese versions because of a mass murderer, and during that time he would cut peoples head and place it on the victim’s shoes

Fun Fact: in the Japanese verisons of the first 3 games, Crash's death animtion of him only having a head and shoes are replaced with him being flatned because apparently there where murders happening in japan at the time with only the person's head and shoes being found so it had to be replaced when porting the game to Japan

As a Japanese Crash player, I say that the "fun fact" is a lie. Crash dies in the head-and-shoe animation even in Japanese ver and there was no such a murderer as far as I know and can research. Maybe someone misunderstood a story of an actual murderer who killed children and put one's head on the school gate in late 90s.

It wasn't actually removed, it was just altered slightly: the animation is exactly the same, but Crash's model remains completely flat during it.

Wrong killer. He was executed in the early 90's. The killer during Crash 2's release decapitated his victims and placed their shoes under their heads.

In the Wrath of Cortex one, when he gets crushed/flattened, he also shrinks! If you look closely at 2:19, you can see what I mean. He becomes so small after getting flattened that you can't even see him! Lol

Fun fact: In Crash Bandicoot's 2 and 3, if you have the Aku Aku mask and get crushed, you won't restart from the last checkpoint. Instead, the Aku Aku mask will disappear. Also, Crash doesn't waddle. He will stand still for a few seconds, before getting back into his original shape. Then, the player continues to control Crash.

there IS a flattened animation which they, for some reason, hide. When you are sliding on a rail and slam into the wall, while being BELOW the rail, your character flies away paper thin

Evolution of Crushed Bandicoot

They got really lazy with the death animations with Crash Bandicoot 4. Its a shame really, knowing that they did an amazing job with Crash Trilogy before that. I got Crash 4 thinking they do a good job with this one. Only after playing it for a few hours of that game, I was very disappointed with it and returned it to the store.
