My first time picking up the needler as a kid and seeing how the crystals follow and then explode an enemy was the coolest thing ever in a game

I know what you mean. It was my first gun that I fell in love with on my first play through of HALO 3, and it's purple pink myst was just so satisfying to see it was just pure shock and awe.

me realizing it took 3 needle rifle shots to kill a brute in halo reach. but when i played halo 3 i always hated the needler because 6 year old me didnt even know the crystals would explode

I will never forgive them for replacing the Plasma Rifle, it's my favorite weapon

It's really amazing to see the history of Covenant weapons throughout Halo's history. Seeing just how much all the returning weapons changed throughout the years and just how much the series advanced since just 3 usable weapons with one grenade to an entire arsenal rivaling the UNSC weapons in some cases. My favorite has to be the Plasma Rifle, it feels so nostalgic and duel wielding them felt great to uses, same goes for the Brute Plasma Rifle. I really just enjoyed using the Covenant weapons, it just gave a feeling of fighting fire with fire. It was just so much fun turning the enemies own weapons against them and just going to town on them. Very fun indeed.

Being lore accurate the covenant have always had better weapons compared to the UNSC. Now i get you probably ment you are actually able to use around as many covenant guns as there are UNSC but eh

The best covenant weapon is honestly the plasma pistol because you can overcharge it to noob combo an elite, ironic the covenant's own weapon used against them, that or Halo 2 energy sword because sword flying is op

I kinda liked the h1 plasma grenades more. they were more neon and had this cool plasma fountain that was like a half second smoke grenade and they didnt bounce, which made more sense

Hey Digsite member here. Macworld contained both the Fuel Rod Gun and Flak Cannon as two different launcher weapons. Also Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol were originally called Energy Carbine and Energy Pistol. Keep up the good work Rocket Sloth

I started re-playing all the games with a friend, and they immediately attached themselves to the needler. Every time they spawned in, they were all "Where's my Needler? I need my needler." and got very upset when they didn't get their needler. I guess it's true, the needler is a very fun weapon.

Yes, the Needler is a very fun weapon, but also very useful on hard difficulty (practically in every Halo). But honestly... again, as with many weapons of the Covenant, a well-balanced and thoughtful Needler was only in Halo CE 😞 (After all, in Halo 2 you can use two Needlers that make everything BOOM, and one Needler is too weak; in Halo 3 and ODST Needler was too easy to use, and required too few needles to kill; in Halo Reach, Needler was balanced with the detonation system... but did not do much with speed; and I don’t even want to talk about Halo 4 and 5... 😒) Oh, and one thing that started to piss me off, when replaying the games of the Halo franchise, is that even starting from Halo 2, there was too much LASER in the Halo games (Focus Rifle - ok; Covenant Carbine - already bad, but used to; Beam Rifle - just bad; Stalker Rifle - you bastards, it would be a good sniper rifle, but instead of a powerful long-range sniper there was no Rifle Shock, and no one liked the Magnum in Halo CE Multiplayer!) weapons in the Covenant arsenal? .. I just never liked LASER weapons ... they are sharp, most often powerful, long-range and do not require any getting used to weapons .. (Although Halo Infinite has Forerunner light weapons, but I will not count them, because they are interesting to use in spite of all other laser weapons 😅)

@@I-like-Hugs-and-Fluffy-boys the carbine, stalker and beam rifle are not laser weapons, the carbine has radioactive rounds and the other two are plasma based rifles. If i had to guess the beam rifle is some sort of plasma aswell but it really isnt a laser atleast. Only laser weapon in halo is the spartan laser

Technically you forgot one weapon that really only gets used twice as far as I remember in Infinite and that's the Scrap Cannon that really only appears when spawned on a Chieftain.

Well, if we want to get _really_ technical, that's not a Covenant weapon, it's a Banished weapon, so not including it makes sense

@@ClonedGamer001 Well he still covered the other Banished weapons like the Stalker Rifle, so is the Scrap Cannon technically derived from repurposed Covenant weapons? Brute weapons on their own should technically count.

As a kid, I only ever played Halo 3, Halo 4 and Halo: Reach. I missed dual wielding when I wasn't playing Halo 3, but I absolutely adored the Focus Rifle and the Concussion Rifle. Good times 😊.

Been messing around with the mod tools, and I found out that the internal name of Halo 3's Mauler is in fact "Excavator." Also interesting, the Prowler was originally the thing named "Mauler"

I vaguely remember there being a Plasma Caster too. It looked like the concussion rifle but shot stickies

Yep, in Halo 5. It was basically a combination of the Concussion Rifle and the Plasma Launcher from Reach, and it was better than both of them.

@@theandice8152 Whether or not a weapon was good has nothing to do with whether or not it was appreciated at the time nor if it was remembered later.

I like to believe that the gravity hammer encountered in Halo 4's campaign was a tribute to the Didact from a Shipmaster (or even Jul M'Dama himself) and that being from a bested Brute Chieiftain.

Did you forget about the Plasma Caster in Halo 5, it was pretty much a blue Concussion Rifle

The Halo Reach plasma pistol was the absolute GOAT.

I believe the plasma pistol is the only reason Reach's elites on legendary were beatable. those things were actually quite difficult, and sometimes fun to fight.

forgot the plasma caster from halo 5, I liked how it differed from the plasma launcher with it focusing much more on area denial. Also i think the reach style launcher was used in firefight because it sat a lot better on the grunts but was then changed to the plasma caster, i think because it works just like the plasma caster does.

The halo 2 fuel rod can also track enemy players at red reticle. (Heat seekers)or(plasma pistol charges)

seeing that those pre CE covenant weapon were real content gives me a new found respect for the Combat Revolved modders.

A Hunter with a Plasma Flamethrower sounds so cool and awesome. I want it, I want it so bad. Please I need a mod of this. I always thought a Plasma Flamethrower was a missed opportunity back in Halo 3. And giving it to hunters would make so much sense.

My favorite covenant weapons so fare are halo halo CE and 2 plasma rifle, and halo infinite ones. Although halo 5 weapons in general have my favorite designs. Nice video!

In halo 3 you also have that immunity shield that you can get if you kill that brute chief in one shot. And also in multiplayer

The skewer is awesome it’s like loading a mini tank Dart and cocking it like a nerf gun

The Halo CE plasma pistol is arguably the second best normal weapon in the game. High accuracy, the fire rate is as fast as you can pull the trigger, overcharge effect, higher health damage than the plasma rifle, shorter overheat time, twice as much battery strength as the rifle, more common to find. Seems to trigger hitstuns more often too. Great at suppressing enemies and for slowly whittling down Elite shields when overcharge shots wont hit, and great at health killing as well. It's only real downgrade from the plasma rifle was slower projectiles and the inability to just hold down the trigger for automatic fire. In my last legendary playthrough I found it more useful than the plasma rifle and was constantly in my rotation through all 10 levels.

U forgot to mention that the plasma rifle in ce could stun enemies if fired enough, and sadly this feature never came back. Also the halo 2 brute shot had extra melee damage that was almost as good as the energy sword

I remember using the fuel rod back on halo combat evolve on mcc. I was surprised I was able to pick it up idk if it was a glitch or some special conditions but I remember getting it.

Out of all the Covenant weapons in the series overall, I like the *Covenant Carbine* since *"Halo 2 [Anniversary]" (2004; 2014)* the most. But in all seriousness, *MY* go-to standard loadout in the series overall is the *Battle Rifle* since "Halo 2" -- particularly the *Misriah Armory BR55HB-SR Battle Rifle* in *"Halo 3" (2007)* -- and the *MA5 Series I.C.W.S. Assault Rifle* from the *MA5B* in *"Halo: Combat Evolved [Anniversary]" (2001; 2011)* to the *2nd-gen MA5D* in *"Halo 5: Guardians" (2015).*

I do miss the original plasma rifle, but Infinite’s pulse carbine is my favourite derivative of the OG plasma rifle. The stalker rifle and ravager are brilliant too

My favs are the Needler and the Grav Ham. I'd KILL for a hybrid of both, tbh...

4:40 the plasma in ce had an emp against shielding and could destroy an oversheild very quickly but other games cut it from the plasma grenade

Favorite Covenant weapons for me are definitely the Carbine and Beam Rifle.

H4-H5G Storm Rifle is such a good design, definitely better than the similar Ill fated Plasma Repeater at least

The storm rifle is one of the least creative covenant designs in the series, wym? It’s just a blue, human assault rifle. From the stock to the grip to the ammo counter on the top. Very boring/generic design. The plasma repeater is more identifiable as Halo covenant technology.

@@LateNightHalo Plasma Repeater looked like a Plasma Rifle with a cog to me being completely honest, very redundant compared to the original Plasma Rifle in design and use, its also one of the few Covenant weapons that have no merchandise whatsoever.

I wish the Plasma repeater made a comeback with the exact same precision/damage as the AR. Just for a fun variation Same with the Needle Riffle from Reach, looked and felt so dope !

Forgot shade turrets. My favourite iteration of those was the CE version

id say the fuel rod gun is the Covenant's most powerful hand weapon. Edit: id also say the needler is too overpowered for a few needles because if you have too many in you or any of the aliens then it explodes that enemy or yourself, whoever got shot.

One of the best things about being a Halo fan is knowing that anyone might have a different opinion about what the ideal weapon sandbox is. I do honestly think that Infinite's is the best we've had since Reach. If we just got the dynamo grenades replaced by flame nades then I'd be happier

Again infinite is probably the best gameplay wise we have gotten since reach, though it isn’t at the level of the bungie games it’s better than 4 and 5, especially with new content updates

Halo 3 does have a brute plasma rifle, it’s on icebox, where it would have been on Turf in halo 2

halo infinite has a fun campaign the likes of which I haven't enjoyed since halo reach, but there is a lot of weapons and vehicles missing that according to canon lore, should be there. any brute weapon that was in previous games should be there, the banished are mostly brutes, there is no logical reason for them to ditch the brute spikers and brute shots when those are weapons originally designed by brutes and were a favorite of brutes. why was the gravity hammer, a weapon only used by a relatively small number of high ranking brutes, kept by the banished, but then the spiker that would have been used by every single brute at some point or another, was for some reason abandoned. the fuel rod cannon, where is it? the banished do not have a ranged explosive weapon in infinite, there is the unstable skewer, but thats a variant of the standard weapon, and the skewer is considered a sniper weapon and the banished use it like one, the lack of any kind of ranged explosive ordinance is is a huge surprise by a military standpoint, how are you supposed to deal with tanks? technically speaking, the banished should be using ALL covenant weapons featured in other games. Its made quite clear by the presence of a banished facility that is actively cutting up UNSC vehicles and equipment that the banished are scavenger and make use of any materials, supplies, and equipment they find. given that the covenant have collapsed there should be tons and tons of old covenant weapons leftover from the war. Atriox has a ODST chest plate making up a portion of his armor, why in the name of the great journey are they not making use of every single piece of covenant military hardware they can find? you could cover a planet in a nice shade of metallic purple with al the military surplus leftover from the covenant after their collapse, but the the banished armory isnt much bigger than that of halo 2, but at least the covenant of halo two had a proper rocket launcher!

You should do evolution of custom games in halo

Favorite to use per game: -Halo 1: Plasma Rifle, Needler -Halo 2: Carbine, Energy Sword -Halo 3: Carbine, Beam Rifle -Halo 4: Needler, Beam Rifle -Halo 5: Carbine, Beam Rifle -Halo Infinite: Mangler, Stalker Rifle, and towards the end the Bloodblade 😏

I still wouldve preferred the plasma repeater over the one we got in Infinite

The plasma rifle is the first ever covenant weapon we ever seen on screen for a Halo game. Thats why it always pisses me off when 343 games never add the plasma rifle into their halo campaigns. They always try to replace it with some two handed inferior plasma weapon.
