I like how the 2002 game just goes off the rails and becomes a Turok/Half-life style game, while every other entry is a traditional hunting style game with dinosaurs

It does have lore yk it’s not just exploring the islands, the game takes place in the future and the Dinosaurs are actually some sort of alien creatures

Nothing like being a kid seeing the little yellow numbers pop up on the screen and getting absolutely murked by random spinosaurus you didn't think was on the map

You forgot to show the part how the raptors in this game would absolute CREEP on you and you wouldn’t know until they were actually on top of you.

This game is one of the earliest on mobile I remember from when I was a kid. 😂 The nostalgia hits hard.

i played the first game at some private christian school with one of my friends. i have no clue why this game was on that school computer. but im glad it was. this video is nostalgic for me.

Man this just brought back a childhood memory I had completely forgotten about, I played the 1999 version all the time when I was in elementary school.

Wish they would put the very first one on phone or Xbox, the first one had its drawbacks but was definitely the most enjoyable. I could talk for hours on how to get the most out of that game, it was definitely the bulk of my childhood. Killed a 12 ton trex once, it was the pride of my trophy room

I think my biggest Rex was around 15 tonne, but it's been years since I played it lol There was a particular mountain on the map that you could spawn on, and it was very difficult for dinosaurs to get up there, although they sometimes could, so you could just sit up there and snipe them from relative safety

@CryptidRenfri there was a couple spots like that the trex would start spinning and youd try to wait for him to get stuck for a split second!! Biggest challenge was to shoot a trex in the eye while I was in a death spin

Good memories

A very strange series of games, sure mindless shooting but when I saw the crossbow in iceage, seeing something that wouldn't look out of place in Turok and 2002 which goes for a linear shooter and a shotgun that looks fascinating yet also interesting much like some of Turok Evolution's weapons, specifically the shotgun. RIP Pistol in later chapters. then seeing the hand held map also function as a spyglass which is hilarious.

I used to play the 1999 version on my ipod when a I was a kid. I collected all the dinosaurs but getting the t rex was always a challenge

When I was a kid, there were three games that I was able to acquire for my family computer. This, Unreal Tournament GOTY, and roller coaster tycoon. Good memories. It's crazy how just hearing this sounds in this game take me right back.

I wanna play that 2021 game. Looks cool.

I very vaguely remember playing the first Carnivore on either my dads old old computer or my grandpas old old computer when I was really little. I only remember because of the gun being used. Neat.

@@BeetleBuns Same with Chasmosaurus in the normal Carnivores, but in mobiles is kind of bugged so is actually difficult to make him attack you. the only exception is the Iguanodon.

There are interesting theories about this. In Carnivores games, dinosaurs are actually aliens, not dinosaurs. In the first game, the triceratops will attack you when injured, but other herbivores will not attack and run away.

@@senisevmek1993 Oh, now that you mention it, i thought the theory was similar to jurassic park, with the difference being that this dinosaurs evolved slightly different due to being in another planet (or was it a moon?)

@@btrkyoulf7807 It's not evolution, the creatures in the Carnivores games are not dinosaurs, they are directly aliens. With what the game offers us, we don't know for sure what kind of creatures they are.

Hey I remember playing one of these on my iPad all the damn time as a kid!!! Good times! Could never get good shots on the Rex. Pretty much never explicitly went for it.

This game wasn't a shooter but a "realistic" hunting game, except based off far future where rich colonists visit a world similar to our prehistoric earth to hunt dinosaurs. You had extremely limited ammo and gear you had to pick precisely for your tasks, limited time and were just outright dropped into the middle of a wild world, alone to hunt your game of choice. You had to know what to hunt, where to look for your game and aim at the weak spots to down them - preferably with a single well placed bullet. For it's time, the original entries were very good and had some both atmospheric and extremely horrifying moments, when you went on an excursion to hunt the titular carnivores; mostly because you were equally part hunter, part hunted and dinos with a taste for your neatly wrapped body had a habit of coming at you from behind. Wind was a thing and you had to take it into consideration if you wanted not only to fulfil your hunt but also survive.

The underrated mutant quake engine mod.

This was one of the first video games I ever played and the very first on the pc. Scared the absolute shit out of me as a kid. Just got them on mobile and I couldnt believe how nice the games looked lol. Im really hoping they bring those versions onto steam at some point in the future. I would buy the shit out of a $10 carnivores remastered bundle.

It was released as PlayStation minis for PSP and it was compatible with PS3 and yes it was digital only. I don't think it's currently available. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_minis

Technicly yes but you Will just waste money because how easy it is to get credit on the endroid version but the iPhone version is a paid app

The classic trilogy needs to be remastered for modern consoles, I don't like the one i have to play on PS5 it's not as good as the classic trilogy imo
