Edit 1: You can mention other errors in this comment, I might've left out some. Since I've got so much time, I will point out all the errors: Lithuania wasn't added It's "North Macedonia", not "Northern Macedonia" PRE WW2 1919~1927: Poland's flag has a different shade of red. 1927~1939: The Second Polish Republic changed the shade of red used. 1929: Vatican got their independence in 1929, but the flag was already there since the beginning of the video. 1931~1939: Second Spanish Republic 1939: Bohemia and Moravia was a partially annexed territory of Nazi Germany and had its own flag. 1939: Slovakia was given its state, under a puppet regime of Germany, thus having its own flag. WW2 1940~1941: The British occupied Iceland to prevent it from falling to the Germans. 1940: Vichy France had its own flag, despite under a puppet regime. 1941: Croatia had its own flag as well despite being split into 2 occupation zones. The Independent State of Croatia (which wasn't actually independent) consists of lands of the modern territories of Croatia and B&H. 1941~1943: Montenegro was actually occupied by Italians, later occupied by the Germans when Italy surrendered. 1941~1943: Same goes for Greece, which is mostly occupied by the Italians. 1941: Moldova was actually under Romanian control. [Operation Barbarossa] 1941: Iceland is occupied by the Americans. 1942: Monaco was occupied by the Italians. 1943: Italy surrenders, a new puppet regime is formed. Italy is known as the Italian Social Republic. 1943: Greece, Montenegro, Monaco and Albania are now under Nazi occupation because Italy surrendered. Albania has its own flag though. 1944: By the end of the year, the Soviet troops only entered and liberated the modern day parts of Serbia, Montenegro and FYROM. 1944: Albania was liberated, however I couldn't find a source of the hammer and sickle being on the flag. Wikipedia states that Albania is known as the Democratic Government of Albania. 1944: Most of the Italian Peninsula is under allied occupation, thus changing to the flag of the National Liberation Committee. 1945: Luxembourg isn't liberated until early 1945. 1945: Poland was liberated by the Soviets, they used the flag from before (1927~1939). 1945: Germany is occupied by the British, Soviets, French and the Americans. The flag of allied-occupied Germany should be shown here. COLD WAR 1945~1969: Slovakia should use the Czechoslovak flag. The flag shown was used only after 1969. 1949: The modern German flag is used. [East Germany doesn't have its own representation] 1956~1957: The flag was reverted back to 1946~1956 version. 1975~2021: The French changed its flag to a lighter shade. 1980: The modern Polish flag is used. 1990: Lithuania gained independence before the other soviet republics. 1991: Georgia used a flag similar to 1918~1921 until 2004. 1991: Russia's flag has a lighter shade of blue until 1993. The flag of Spain definitely did not start with that design until 1945. Since 1923 it underwent up to 3 changes until reaching the flag of the Franco dictatorship.

Thank you for pointing out the old bosnian flag for them, came to say the same. As for the triangular one, there are still bosnians who feel the new flag was forced upon them rather than replaced. A university professor told us all that in a lecture rather humorously(how both the old(one of guys who participated in its creation held archeology classes for us on our year 1) and the new one came to be).

The one in Spain is poorly done. Spain in the 1920s had a round shield without the eagle. In the 1930s it had a shield divided into 4 with a mural crown and a purple stripe on the flag. And from the 40s to the 70s the two-color flag arrived with the eagle on the shield.

@@FacebankMan You don’t even understand the History and I’m half- austrian. Austrians were glad to be annexed, Slovakia voluntarily joined Nazi Germany as an Ally. Albania liberated itself like Yugoslavia and adopted Communism obviously. Vatican was created by Mussolini. Moldova was Romanian, not Soviet until 1945 and the Baltics were invaded by the USSR. You also don’t understand the meaning of “Colony”. A Colony is a Overseas Territory, the Czech Republic was next to Germany so couldn’t have possibly been a Colony. Poland and Czech Republic weren’t free, they were under Soviet Management and Oppression until 1989 (just like my other country, Bulgaria). Switzerland lost a Major Customer, Germany.

There was made a mistake in Georgian flag. In 1990-2003 Georgia had a tri-colour flag, the flag of Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921). 5-cross flag 🇬🇪 was only adopted in 2003, after the Rose Revolution.

@@saturnball_cz No, 1939. Czechoslovakia ceased to exist when it was occupied on March 15th, 1939. The Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia was formed on March 16th and would continue to exist until May 1945. The Second Czechoslovak Republic that existed prior to occupation had the same flag as the First Czechoslovak Republic.

Yeah, honestly the video is very innacurate. Germany after 1945 was divided into two Germanies, including the Communist East Germany, which had a Hammer. Many Nazi- occupied countries had their own flags and Slovakia never really had Nazi Flag, because they were an early Ally of Nazi Germany. Croatia and Serbia were Puppets and had their own flags. Hungary changed their flag in 1957, but not removing the Icon, but changing it. How was the Asian Video so accurate, but this video so unresearched.

The current Georgian flag appeared after Saakashvili came to power in 2003-04, and not in the early 90s.

If Albania did not instantly have the italian flag stamped on top during the WW2 phase, why did german collaborator states like Slovakia or Croatia have it? Additionally, Moldova was under romanian administration during that period, not nazi.

I've never seen anything more chaotic than this video in my life...

A nations flag did not change because of occupation that is not how that works a nation has to officially choose to change it

I don't like how all flags are the same aspect ratio. I get it's for visual style. But the stretched Vatican City is cursed. The Belgian flag is meant to be almost square. The Swiss flag is valid, but the square flag is the more common one. But what I do like is the consistency of the modern countries. So if countries were merged in the past, they have the same flag in this chart. It doesn't mean they were independent at that time. But it's "Czechia", not just "Czech", just like it's "Germany" and not just "German".

Some of the flags between 1939 and 1945 are wrong. For example, Slovakia had identical flag to today's Russia. Croatia was, at this time, The Independent Croatian State, and they had different from III Reich flag. From 1949 till 1989 Germany should have had two different flags. One for the federal republic of germany and one for the democratic republic of germany. They had different ones

1939-1944, Slovakia was actually free until 1944 when Germany annexed all their allies excluding Japan, and also, Yugoslavia didn't fall until the Early 2000s, and also, France made a small change to their flag in 2020 making the Blue part darker.

The flag of Ukraine and Russia was different Flag of Ukraine: light blue-yellow. Russian flag: white and azure scarlet.

It is so bitter that Abkhazia is showcased as an independent country. It has never been and will never be. Abkhazia is Georgia, and so is Samachablo( not Russia's South Ossetia). 🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪

Good video. But I found some errors. Cyprus change flag in 2006 little bit. Czechoslovakia have little bit different flag. With smaller portion of blue part.

WW2 France had 2 different flags (xountry splite) And few years ago the blu changed

Switzerland: no change since 1848. Seems like a pretty stable country

@@haglasu1468 Yeah, very poor Research. 1. There is no East Germany, but it’s well- known that Germany was divided after 1945. 2. Hungary changed their Flag in 1957, but they changed the Communist Symbol and didn’t remove it. 3. German Puppets States, such as Croatia (Independent State of Croatia), Serbia (Government of National Salvation), Vichy France and Norway (Quisling Regime), Italian Social Republic, aswell as Allies, like Slovakia had their own flags and not Nazi flags. Also occupied Territories had their own flags. 4. Lithuania and Kosovo are missing. 5. Spain used the flag of the Second Spanish Republic before the Nationalists came to Power 6. Austria had a flag with a two- headed Eagle and Golden Arches around the Head until 1938.

France flag was never a nazi flag , it was a French flag with an axe at the center

Mistake: Vatican City’s flag should be Italy’s flag in 1923-1929. Vatican City didn’t gain independence yet, until 1929, Vatican City is a new city and has gained independence.

Abkhazia was and is a region of Georgia, not an independet country.

This video has an Error! The flag of Georgia was at 6:57 was NOT the first post-Soviet Georgian flag! It was this one first: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Georgia_(country)#/media/File%3AFlag_of_Georgia_(1990-2004).svg and it was used 1990 to 2004 where it was replaced by the modern Georgian Flag. See here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Georgia_(country)#/media/File%3AFlag_of_Georgia.svg. I would also like to note the first post-Soviet flag was first originally created as the national flag of Democratic Republic of Georgia from 1918 to 1921 BTW. Source: Wikipedia.
