Agreed. Zero may cry and Morgan is doom are the worst match to watch. Once they hit, I just fast forward until the next characters or round.

With a meta all about one touch teams, it's somewhat fitting the (potentially) final major tournament ends with the original one touch team winning it all

It’s funny. I remember viscant doing a write up within 6 months to a year after the game first came out and it was already obvious that zero may cry was essentially going to be the center of the endgame meta. Morridoom obviously will always be a threat, as will other well composed/played teams, but the ease of execution to play zmc at a top level is significantly lower.

I hope Capcom gives us the SF6 treatment to a new MvC, or just a new versus game of high caliber. There's clearly appetite, seeing how they all end up being played for so long. I hope their new successes shows them that.

@@gmoorisson Agreed. If you only use him for his assist and setting up incomings, then you might as well use somebody else! Dante has some extremely hype combos and stylish execution, I think cloud805 (among others) was a great example of his true power.

Everyone complaining about Zero May Cry and here I am just happy to see Marvel again. Fun fact: This is the first time ZMC has ever one an EVO tournament. The last time a similar team won was Flocker with Zero/Vergil/Hawkeye. The same can be said for Morrigan. Only Chris and Ryan ever one with them amongst the sea of people who played them. Even back in Marvel’s glory days with people like Cloud and Flux hyper optimizing ZMC, it never won an EVO. I guess what I’m trying to say is that while the characters are good, it’s really the players behind them that drive how far they go. Just look at KBR! He’s one of my favorites and he takes what many call a mid-low team to fantastic levels. Even if certain teams maybe be “strong” and or “boring,” I think we all just need to tone down the complaining.

The complaining is valid though, because seeing the same team comp win over and over again, sucks all interest out of watching it as a spectator. And when interest is gone, the game fades away. Fans of the game dont want it to fade away. This might be ZMC first Evo win, but its not the first time ZMC has dominated the meta. That comp has won many other top level tournaments, and people are just sick of it. Even when ChisG was dominating with MorDoom, it was basically just him and one other player with that comp at top level. There has always been a sea of DMC players. Point is, do you think SF6 would last long, if Ken won every single tournament? Any game needs variety to survive. And to add insult to injury, ZMC is just really boring to watch.

I respect the hell out of MVC and the dedication and execution skills of it's players, but hot damm, I struggled to enjoy watching this Top 6 outside of KBR being one of the best of us in victory and defeat. Zero May Cry is *dull*

The players dont care that u think their team is dull, they are there to win. If they played a different team they wouldnt have topped or won, so they have a choice between playing their best team, top, and have u call them boring or they play a trash team, not top, and u say nothing about them becuz they didnt top u wouldnt have known of their existence. Not sure why you feel like you need to ride out to defend something that was never under attack. The team comp is boring as hell, the Grand Final was a mirror of that team comp and the whole Top 6 was broadcast on the main stage with the intention of as many people watching it as possible. Therefore as a viewer, I am commenting on the viewing experience and, for me, it was as dry as the Gobi desert. The whole thing was "who gets hit first" and "will they drop the basically infinite combo or not?" - which compared to the other Top 6s was not engaging for me, personally. Maybe you loved it and that's genuinely great. My comment is not a reflection on the players who are doing their best to win in their respective meta and it doesn't mean I don't have mad respect for them, which is literally the first thing I said.

Even most mvc3 players agree mvc2 was a better game.. The one's that disagree were not old enough to remember or not skilled enough to dash without a macro

Never played MVC3 so my opinion is definitely from an outside perspective, but how frustrating it must be to make one mistake and just watch your opponent thrash your entire team. I think I prefer fighting games that have more of a back and forth, idk

Definitely a game people play love and hate at the same time. It is with out a doubt the most unforgiving game with the highest learning curve.

At this point the lifespan of umvc3 has surpassed so many expectations they just need to do a re-release with adding a few more characters update the mechanics a bit, give it the dlc it deserved and let it run out another 5yrs

@@brianrodriguez6897 what Disney doesn’t realize is there is a huge fan base for umvc3 and examples are evo 2023 I know it has to do with licensing of certain characters but umvc3 is the closest thing to marvel vs capcom 2 and if they did a re-release with some new characters it’s a win for everyone capcom, Disney and the community!!!

Yeah that final was lackluster

Good matches all around, I’m just bummed that it ended with a ZMC mirror match. 1/3 of the top 6 used the exact same team. You heard how hype the crowd got whenever any other team got a combo going, but ZMC is just boring now, we’ve seen it so many times. I ended up skipping any time Zero got a combo going since I knew it was going to be going on for a while. Again, props to everyone, it’s just something that personally makes me meh.

That final mixup in Grands was perhaps the most Marvel moment ever. X Factor Vergil mixing the absolute living shit out of another Vergil. I know people don't like ZMC because of loops but come ON those crossunders were D I S G U S T I N G!

Zero's shadow clone super, Vergil's sword belt super, and Morrigans twin super all need to be level 3. Just like Striders ouroboros.

Zero’s install super is fair, it only lasts 5 seconds and zero doesnt gain meter during it, and honestly u could remove it from the game and Zero can still do over 1 million damage using only 1 meter, he does 750k minimum depending on his 2 assists. Then rekkoha(lvl 1 super) does about 250k. So he would still kill the majority of the cast off of 1 touch, using only 1 meter, except spencer/hulk/hagger/thor.

For vergil, its very hard to say, if his swords super was more than 1 meter, it would be trash, if its 1 meter, its too good. Theres no way to balance it. Strider’s ouroboros should have been 1 meter just like how it was in mvc2. Ofc they would have to lower the duration of it to balance it for its 1 meter price.

I'm not a Marvel player but to put it simply... No there isn't a way to get out. You have Team Assist Combos (TAC - you switch your lead mid-combo) which can be countered if you are predictable. People still do this at high level because there is a glitch which allows for very strong loops so I think I saw it a few times in the Top 6 but not in the Grand Finals. However, if you are getting one touched by a efficient Zero who has no need to TAC or even a Hulk who only has some assist synergy, they may not even need meter or risk that sort of situation at all. You can't burst like many Arc System games. You can't DI like SoulCalibur or Smash. You can't call your teammate to help you like Marvel vs Capcom Infinite either.

@@taigaxfe6128 Yeah, it's Mahvel. Both MvC2 and UMvC3 have very overtuned stuff at a high level in part due to the lack of DLC/patches besides the core design. I do want to get into the game and also the modding scene since people have been adding a lot of new characters but there will be a hurdle as very few fighting games I play are this punishing if you make a mistake or force 5 layers of reads in a fraction of a second... even if you have to be very very good at the game to do the loops, pick ups or combos remotely well outside of specific teams (I understand Zero May Cry - focus on Zero and Vergil are strong in particular but far from alone). Super Turbo can also be brutal and potentially a one touch game from jump ins but it is easier to read the game state and it is usually a one player game for less time. Marvel Infinite for all of its faults added some defensive additions while still being recognisable as a 2v2 game with new aggressive options. I hope to learn that one too...

And except some characters, I see more different teams in Infinite than Ultimate3 with always the same characters (Doom, Zero, Vergil, Dante). It's boring to watch for me...
