Just so everyone knows the Fuel filter is inside the Air intake on the front of the motor of a 2005 135hp. Took me 3 days to find it, thought I was going crazy!

The ETEC injector is nothing like the ficht injector. I will be posting a ETEC injector soon to show the difference between the two injectors.

I'm looking at one right now it is a 225hp ho and it has 125 compression on all cylinders but one has 60 pounds and the guy was told it needed a emm of computer for it but what the hell about the lower compression on that one cylinder what could cause that

have a E200FP but the make it start i need to add a bit of fuel on any cilinder and just after this the engine will start perfect, but without the bit of fuel wont start, what can i do???

Hi Wolf, Motor is still turning off with 1 second after starting. any advise. once I crank it enough times I r will stay on.

Have you replaced the lift pump? Lift pump is for idle. Next time you try to start it...squeeze the bulb until it's hard. Try to start and have a friend keep squeezing the bulb. See if it isles then. What did you do to it so far?

So the Ficht engines were fuel injected. If you have a Carb system they have none of the problems mentioned in the message boards? Is this correct?

Yes Bob. If your motor is carbed then skip over this. Most causes on your carb motor is cleaning it. Or..a rebuild. These are fuel injected motors.

However I would rather a carb 2 stroke over an early ficht

Not yet.Mine starts, but turns off immediately over and over till it warms up. Then it works great all day even if I restart it. It just does it when engine is cold. sometimes I have to start it 50 times to get it warmed up.

You might have to get the emm scanned for codes. Being it's a hard start when cold could indicate a sensor is bad.

I can't figure out how the heck it regulates the fuel pressure when there's no return line to the tank... If there's too much pressure where does the excess go? Or does it simply pinch off the pump side to maintain 30 lbs??

the excess goes through the vapor separator, then expelled depending on what the ball valve has increased the pressure to, and injected directly into the intake manifold. this SHOULD only happen on occasion, like when going from idle to wide open throttle and back again, where fuel gets a chance to pool up in the tank. so the vapor tank can be seen as a sort of "return tank" .

They left out the part where it blows up. Oh, this vid is only 2:46. FICHTs don't blow up until 3:54.

2005 Ficth DI that has a miss at any RPM but not at full throttle. No mechanic in my area can resolve the problem. The engine has 128 hours on it. Bought used a few months ago.

My Ficht has the same prob. A stumble at a certain RPM. Mostly low ..id say 2000-2500 rpm. This is normal on these. But if you have a studder at 4-5 K rpm then there's a problem.

sadly that's only partly true. about 18 months after they introduced the 150 & 175hp versions , virtually all of the issues had been solved! But by then it was a "too little too late" situation and the early ones left such a stain on OMC's reputation it hurt them a great deal
