the movie was made after an anime. the anime has more revenge in it.

I really feel bad and sometimes I sympathize for Hiro because no one is there for him. He is like the Dearth Vader of this movie. On the other hand, Ichiro also had the same fate before they both got their superpowers. This is a nice superhero movie with a nice story.

This movie really shows the difference between a hero and a villain. Both suffer a horrible backstory however, the hero is the one who protects people from the pain, darkness etc. while the villain is the one who decides that revenge is the solution and make sure that everyone experiences the same pain they did.

i mean they butchered the source. the ending in the source and anime, a huge meteor is about to destroy earth so hiro decides to sacrifice himself to redeem his actions and explode it. it doesnt fully work so ichiro has to do the same. the family only then realizes their mistakes with ichiro now a martyr.

its worth noting that ichiro and hiro are very similar but are also very different. ichiro still had a family that he cared with him about which drives him to protect and save people. hiro on the other hand, lost the people he cared about to people (mother suffering from the public and friend getting gunned down by law enforcement) this is why he ended up as a villain while ichiro ended up as a hero.

Dang, I lost my dad and stepdad (I was 16, then 32). I would do anything to go back and create more memories with them. They were heroes that changed me, and showed no fear even in their last day.

I lost my dad 16, stepdad at 32. Both them died of cancer. I wish I'd been there more often. Now I have PTSD, afraid to be close to anyone new. But at least they (and myself) are Christians. I know I will be with them again. It's just hard in the meantime.

Ichiro deserves a more grateful family .He works so hard

For those who are curious, in the manga (SPOILER): It reveals that Hiro is not dead, and there's a giant asteroid crashing towards Earth that can end mankind. The Americans have dropped multiple nuclear bombs onto the Asteroid, but nothing can stop it. Ichiro flies to the asteroid, and tries to break it using his missles. After many failed attempts, Ichiro finds Hiro on the asteroid. Hiro then tells Ichiro that the self destruct button located behind his eye, can break the asteroid, according to his calculations. Hiro then closes his eye, and self destructs. Sadly, the asteroid only formed cracks, not breaking the asteroid. Ichiro then self-destructs himself, and breaks the asteroid, saving the planet.

The anime that it's based on is one of my top 3 favorite anime of all-time (of like 50-100 animes and movies that I watched). Highly recommend watching it, or at least the ending that you could easily look up on youtube. They made it more sensible in the live action, but the sense of randomness and stupidity in the anime made it so much more unique and memorable. The ending is a lot different too but it really has a wholesome and surprising ending so if you liked the story, I'm sure you'll love the anime too

Show this to your kids when you tell them they get too much screen time.

Right. In manga/anime, Hiro did kill a whole family by random... and actually not killing them because of how harmonious they are. Just complete randomness and not also because of anger. Actually he got no real problem with his family, just his father got married again and he actually going well with his both families... though he chose to live with his biological mother than his richer mother. Since Hiro is receiving red core for his robotic power, while Ichiro is blue. You know, red is tend to be evil, while blue the opposite.

Didn't understand why the guy who works so hard for the family isn't respected and called a coward.

Just loved it my friend.

Not my kind of movie, but the older I get, the more I find having an older protagonist in a film more interesting than the usual college student aged hero. But it was even more refreshing to see him beat a college student.

for anyone wondering, this is a live adaptation of the anime and manga of the same name, the plot is obviously cut down for the sake of being turned into a movie, but I high recommend watching the original story, it's pretty worth it.
