Hey bro I’m new to understanding capture cards. At 1:28 can you clarify what you mean by 4k pass through. I have a 1080p monitor

The capture card will capture up to 1080p. But it will allow your PS5 to still go out to your 4k TV up to 4k as well. So it is sending out a 4k signal to your TV but the signal that gets captured by the device with OBS is capped at 1080. Hope that helps. yeah you can send the output to what ever you want I dont even use it on my set up.

I’m having serious issues hooking up any kind of capture card right now. When I plug it in, my computer makes a noise and then the internet doesn’t want to load (mostly if I’m watching something as well), then my programs don’t open up, and if I restart the computer the taskbar doesn’t load whatsoever. And if I unplug the capture device and restart everything is back to normal. Does anyone know what’s going on?

It sounds like it's taking too much to run. Maybe the USB port you're using is shared by other devices. Try moving the USB to another port. Try other drivers. If all else fails see if that manufacturer has a community forum or a support number. With limited info I can only give general ideas. Hope that helps. Good luck!

All I get is a black screen the audio is working but all I see is a black screen any fix for this and yes i followed your instructions

i know this might not get a response after years but i was curios why i would hook up the xr1 up and it would display good on my obs but then it would just freeze into the frame? like everything would work but for some reason the frame would just freeze

I'm still here. 👍 That could be the HDCP locking it up. Did you turn that off? Try to set the frame rate and image size rather than setting it to default. Hope that helps

So I purchased this recently and I had no issues getting it working, until the screen capture was ticking upwards. Meaning the top of the screen was ticking upwards from the bottom. AND, the top part that was on the bottom, was also ticking to the left. I feel like I am the only person with this issue, because after spending a day I could not find an answer, and even EVGA hasn't responded back to me with a fix.

That is strange. Hopefully EVGA can replace it. It sounds like pixel mapping is off and it's confusing the edges. No idea really. I'm just guessing. Hope they help you soon. Well your PC has to be used with it to capture the footage and sound. It isn't a standalone capture device. It still needs OBS. But it can record any sound that comes out of speakers. You just have to send your chat or party chat to the speakers along with the headset. It's a setting in the PS5 on how you want the audio outputting. Hope that helps

You have to set it up so the audio for your Mic goes out to the speakers as well as the headset. Kind of annoying but that way you will be a little late record. The team chat at least and then your voice would just be picked up if you had like a microphone or something like that. But it wouldn't record your voice via the game because you'd only be hearing what you hear and you don't hear your own voice. Hope that makes sense.

hi... im having issues when setting up my switch with this capture card. I followed all the instructions but after adding the XR1 as a device... there's no picture. I have everything plugged in, the blue light is flashing and was recognized... im so confused

You can send your teams chat to both your speakers and your headset in the setttings then you can get the team audio. But you will still need to capture your audio via a mic via OBS.

No I doubt it trouble shooting is a pain I would hope it should see it, it doesn't list it at all? Does device manager on your computer see it? Maybe you can change the USB port? I would see if installing a different driver for it helps.

@@EndLess1UP the ONLY thing that shows up is OBS digital camera, but when I go to the Audio settings, it clearly states it’s using the capture card!

Everything works accept my party chat is going through my controller and I can’t hear any party chat! Any fixes?

You can pick where you party chat goes in the playstation menu. Maybe send it to your speakers and turn off the controller audio.

Yes but not your voice, only the voice of others, you would need a mic set up to capture your voice. You also need to go into the settings and send the headset sounds to your speakers and headset. It is an option in the sound settings.

I am not sure. If you can see it in OBS I would think it could send it out. Maybe the HDMI monitor is set to the wrong input. It could be defaulting to a thunderbolt USBC port or display port. I'd check the monitor input settings. Hope that helps.

only issue i have is that i cant update the drivers. I need a USB 3.0 port but only have 3.1 and 2.0

The 3.1 should cover it. I have had driver issues with devices in the past and I usually try to get a driver cleaner to purge the old ones and install from scratch. Hope that helps

@@EndLess1UP I think i got a faulty xr1 I tried connecting it to another computer with multiple 3.0 usb ports but for whatever reason it thinks its a 2.0. The led light only stays on purple.

When having the gameplay audio come through OBS, it’s very muffled. Any idea what could be causing this?

things I would try: See where the audio is in the meters. Is it low there too? Does it reach the red? Try turning that up to see if it helps. I would also try to re-establish the connection to the XR1 and maybe mess with some settings. there isnt any settings in the PS5 that is keeping the audio quite is there?

@@EndLess1UP it’s like the quiet sounds are unable to be heard, and the loud ones will burst your eardrums. It’s completely bizarre. It’s like the sound channel is completely messed up. I’ve looked through all the settings and just have no idea what could be causing this. I’ve seen others have this issue but can’t find a solution.

Sounds like you tried a bunch of stuff. Maybe that unit's just bad. Are you able to maybe return it and grab a different one?

I have all the right plugins i have the type c in my labtop the hdmi out into my tv nd the hdmi into my game and it only displays on my labtop while obs is on why cant i see it on my tv

This might be a refresh rate setting. If OBS sees it that means the device is getting the signal. Maybe the HDMI cable is bad? Doubt it. But worth trying another one. Maybe see if changing any settings on your TV helps. Like se if you can put the refresh rate at 30hz or 60hz preferably. Hope that helps.

I wonder if in OBS the setting for the Video has the Base canvas or the Output set wrong. If you are using a TV to send it out to as well, try to unplug that once and see if only sending it to the computer via OBS behaves different. The device should be able to do 1080p 60fps.

It doesn't affect the signal going to the TV. It is a passthrough device. The record is maxed at 1080p so...

It should be pretty much the same way and I would just google where HDCP is on that console. Then turn it off.

Have you tried any other USB slots? Try unplugging everything that isnt needed besides the keyboard and mouse and the capture card it could be that the usb port isnt powered or is sharing a system bus with another port.

It's blurry? I'd check your OBS settings. Make sure it's recording at the right resolution

@@EndLess1UP Managed to fix the issue by changing video quality to Indistinguishable Quality. As for the resolution in the Video tab, im assuming Base(Canvas)Resolution should be 3840x2160 (I have a 4k monitor) and Output(Scaled) Resolution should be 1920x1080?

How can i record my own audio on it ?? Can anyone let me know please

You can record the team chat if you send it to your speakers and head set. If you want to record your audio you need to use a microphone hooked up to the computer you are using OBS on.
