It's wade fishing time!
Choosing the right waders can be hard...
There are so many variables to consider, including:
- Size
- Price
- Brand
- Materials
- Extra features
- And more
To help you wrap your mind around all of this, I'm at Roy's Bait & Tackle in Corpus Christi, TX, with Capt. Zach to break it all down.
He's taking us through entry-level waders all the way to up to the highest tier waders and explaining what you get at each price point.
So if you're looking to get a new pair of waders, but aren't sure of where to start, you're going to love this video!
Have any questions about getting the right waders?
Let us know down in the comments!

I expected explanations and recommendations concerning chest-high vs. waist-high, boots vs. stockings, etc. That would have been more helpful instead of a sales pitch.

Awesome man, I visited Roys bait and takle for the first times last weekend. I have some waders that get the job done but it might be time to start looking some that'll last longer. As usual great video and great info. Tight lines man.

Thank you so much for producing this video. I've been considering trying wade fishing at some point but I have no clue on how to choose a good set of waders or how they should fit.

That's what I was wondering. Are there boots that need to be as well? I didn't think you would go into underwater terrain without them. Thanks for clarifying that. I've had waders that had boots as part of the pants. But I want to upgrade.

Did I miss the point where you compared each wader best to wear this wader for fresh water fishing this wader is great for both saltwater fishing and fresh water fishing didn't think it was going to be a sizing video or price point video 🤔

Good video, but make sure to take your boots with you because those booties run big and thick! Made the mistake of buying boots first. Even though the boots fit the booties made them impossible to wear, just didn’t realize when I bought the boots. But do love the Simms tributary just wish booties were not so thick. Thanks for thinking about us waders.

And what are the layers that those waders have specially on the lower section of the waders seat and the knees do you want more layers of material on the bottom that you do on top and I’m sure that also fix the price correct?

You have to be kidding me! If this vid was made in oz it would be called Everything you need to know about waders for saltwater fishing and it’s content would be ABOUT WADERS FOR SALTWATER FISHING!! So 14mins and absolutely no information about which waders are more suitable than others for salt water. Nice work!

In colder water and water with oysters and mud (the marshes and creeks/flats here in va, nc, and sc. I use crocs when I launch my kayak on sandy or hard bottoms, at the beach I wade barefoot during summer months but I striper fish in the fall and winter, and I don’t want hypothermia

@@natehowell793 yeah, I honestly have only found a few good spots here in va where I live but I have to kayak to certain areas to be able to reach opposite shorelines that are wade able, because I can only go out in the mud to an extent. However I have found lots of life wading up here in va, the grass is back like crazy and I love been getting too water blow ups with a yo zuri top knock.

I fish Tampa Bay, I assure you that there are times you need waders or you can't go fishing. I've been out when the air temps are in the upper 30's and the water is in the 50s. Fishing can be outstanding but it's a no go without waders.

Ok I've got a 43" "chest" inseam is about 27.5-28 and shoe size is usually an 8 to 8.5 depending on brand but am wanting the frogg toggs hellbender the standard. And the stockingfoot I'd do an 8. And then the shoe I was looking at the 9. Does this sound right to you?

If you're between sizes, might be a good idea to try them on if possible. Also, be sure to check any size charts that are available and compare that to your measurements.
