The way Swifties self delude about things is crazy! The date being ‘chosen’ based on recent events rather than seeing a space in hers and others calendars (we know that the artists try to leave space for other releases)… I think if it’s slow, this record will be an era in the show between SN and red and various songs carved off the other sets to make room or some mashups introduced but who knows…..

I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but April 19th in the US is Patriots Day. It celebrates the revolutionary war, where the US finally became independent from Great Britain 😂😂

She had a lot of nervous and somewhat erratic energy that she usually doesn't have winning awards these days, and her speech didn't seem that rehearsed. I think she was genuinely surprised this time. Especially because, if she was expecting to win AOTY, she would have announced the new album then and not while accepting a smaller award like "Best Pop Vocal Album".

Yes. Same here. But everytime i commented or said that people told me i am vonpletely wrong. Sometimes the internet makes up stuff and treats it as gospel as if taylor said herself that there wouldnt be a new album before the tour is over. There were hints that the new album colour would be white and putting out the movie that early was another sighn for me that the set would change. It just didnt make sense to me that she would wait that long to put out a new album consindering her workflow atm

That said, I wasn’t sure if she was going to want to release an entire new album while still on tour, since she’d presumably have to tweak the tour for it? But damn committing to the chaos, respect. 😂 And feeling very validated that I was right.

Hey Zack, great video! With regards to "All is fair in love and poetry": Obviously the original quote is "All is fair in love and war". I think that Taylor does see her pen as her weapon and love is her most explored songwriting theme. She has also said that she values a strong moral code. However, in the last few years her songwriting has gotten a bit more vague due to the immense scrutiny she is under. Many people have also criticised her for 'trashing' people in her songs and yielding her fanbase. I think this is her poetic way of saying: "I will not mince my words. Not for the subjects of my songs, the general public or to maintain your ideas of 'moral purity'. This is my art, take it or leave it."

I've said it before - Midnights was the bookend to her career thus far. It was the conclusion/reflection on her life thus far, and TTPD is a completely new direction filled with a folklore/evermore inspo and tortured poet collabs, a la Lana, The National, etc. I'm pumped!!

The title is even airloom turkey slander. Joe alwyn once said in an interview that he has a group chat called “the tortured men’s club”. The title was already a slay for me, then I found out it’s a petty slay and IM SO EXCITED. I think this might just be her best album yet

I’m still in shock, struggling to process, feels like a fever dream

Okay I have several thoughts so I'm just gonna ramble real quick: 1. The "all is fair in love and poetry" is obviously a play on "all is fair in love and war" so I think she's alluding to the perception of her declaring war on her exes when she writes songs about them 2. The cover to TTPD looks like her waking up in the morning. The concept of midnights being the sleepless nights makes me think this is a sort of continuation to the morning after. Like if midnights is when you're up late having anxiety and breaking down because this relationship is hurting but you're trying to convince yourself that it can still work out/things can be fixed, then TTPD is the clarity after some sleep of "no, it's over". This makes "You're losing me" being on midnights make sense to me because of the imagery of sitting in the dark. Like that song is the last thoughts you have before you're finally like "I need to get some sleep". 3. I wonder if the phrase "tortured poet" is sarcastic in a way??? Like does she actually consider herself that way or is that just what he made her feel like/who she had to become to impress the pretentious art boy? I'm thinking back to the line "On the way home, I wrote a poem. You say "what a mind." This happens all the time." from Sweet Nothing and basically all of The Lakes. 4. A manuscript is an author's work that hasn't been published yet so I agree that this album is going be about the heirloom turkey and everything she hasn't said about the relationship yet. 5. I hope she does like another midnights madness with me where she slowly announces the track titles just because I thought it was fun 6. I feel like the songwriting for this album will be a mix of folklore and evermore but better and the vulnerability of speak now and red. I don't really want to expect that much about the genre because I thought Midnights is going to be a rock album before. My theory behind the “all’s fair in love and poetry” lyrics is because the original phrase is “all’s fair in love and war” she’s replaced war with poetry. So it’s like she’s declaring war with her poetry. It’s like she’s saying everything is up for grabs to be written about. I don’t know, that’s my theory.

If she cuts like one or two midnights songs, and then one folklore and one evermore song (because the sets are so long) that’s enough to incorporate one new era

I just realized in her post about the album she just said"All is fair in love and poetry" rather than giving us an explanation about what the album is generally about which I feel like she generally does. It almost like she wants this album to speak for itself which is an incredibly scary thought to me.

Also the line about love bombs is a reference to “love bombing,” a manipulative tactic to keep a partner from leaving a bad relationship, and that feels like a BIG DEAL acknowledgement/accusation to me

A thought I had while watching this was the spoken-word poem interlude of Seven on the tour was probably a little nod to this new era of “poetry” as a theme and possibly the introspective style of writing? Very excited to hear what the first single is gonna be.

to be honest, when I heard “the tortured poets department” I immediately thought about the music industry. I think she’ll mention reinventing herself in the album.

Prepare to have all your shortcomings displayed in 17 perfect songs”. Cannot express how excited I am for the record and all your coming content!! xxxx

So, I found one of her comments when announcing this to be kind of interesting, and it actually goes back to the win itself. She makes the comment that she knows a big part of why she won (at least in this category and b possibly AOTY as well) is the fan base. I love Midnights. I think it did deserve the wins it got. But I think this was her acknowledgement that the other things that happened this year, the success she’s been having, her popularity… they were a part of this win. As is the case with a lot of big award shows. It’s rarely a simple question of which was the best work.

I think the distinction between love and poetry makes perfect sense! The original saying goes "all is fair in love and war" as we know, so "poetry" is replacing the term "war" in her case. And even though Taylor is a lover girl, loving isn‘t her form of artistry. It‘s her writing. Her pen is her weapon and this is her saying that she will write as openly and ruthlessly as she loves. I‘m interpreting this as a warning and "be aware" to our heirloom turkey but also to the media and anybody else who crossed and discredited her. Also looking back to the "long story short" lyrics she said: When I dropped my sword I threw it in the bushes and knocked on your door And we live in peace But if someone comes at us, this time, I'm ready She implies that being in love is being defenseless but also trusting that your partner won‘t hurt you. Love is a sort of truce at least until it ends. And it ended. So, anything goes basically. "You‘re losing me" was only the tip of the iceberg. We‘re discharged from the hospital and going straight to the heartbreak tortured poets department. She‘s not a patient anymore, she‘s the chairman!!! Taylor is absolutely over him.

it's her best album cover so far, but it so looks like a fan edit, not because of quality but just the image and vibes like OKAYY

She could have different version's and colored album's like she did with midnights so you may like a future version of the album when it comes out

There's already an article on the Daily Maily from Joe's publicist/insider (allegedly) saying that he hopes she doesn't release any details about their breakup in her songs and that it's not a diss album. And! The source finished: 'Regardless of what she does, he will still not respond because he has removed himself from her narrative and is very glad, he did.' I am gagging… 😅😅

This is giving the penmanship of Folklore, the music style of Midnights with a non apologetic hint of Reputation. ALSO Reputation was mainly about Joe saving her, and the albums cover is black and white. Folklore is the first time she asked joe to work on an album together. Also black and white. And now The Tortured Poets Department being black and white. Along with the lyrics she released with it she is being whimsical yet direct. Her pictures are sensual yet laid back. Reputation TV IS coming right around the corner and like I said that album is mainly about Joe being her saviour while also showing a more sensual and aggressive side of her. She KNOWS everyones waiting for Rep. TV and will be listening to it like crazy. All leading up to her new albums release that is all about how that "golden love" ran out. Her Grammys outfit I think is also a big easter egg on what the albums going to be like. I was really confused by her dress but with THIS it makes complete sense. Shes wrapped up in bed sheets, showing some sensualness with the corsetted back. Black gloves and a black hand fan. Elegant yet blunt. The chocker being a clock. "Tick, tick, tick". Also side note the picture of her in the pastel pink cardigan is very JOE coded to me. Lover color of a cardigan and its the "only" thing shes wrapped up in. She is ACTUALLY easter egging! All that to say I am SO READY FOR THIS ERA! 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍

to me the most surprising and exciting thing is the lack of Easter egging!! I’m like hoping she can become more spontaneous or at least private about her plans. I think less conspiracy feeding is really necessary for both her and the fans

About the “keeping a secret for 2 years”, I personally don’t think that means she finished it then, more so that she started working on it/finalised the idea or something along those lines. I don’t think she would wait that long, cuz we’re kinda over the whole joever thing(at least we were) and for a autobiographical album, it would be way in the past. Then again, I do agree that it could be a more clear/insightful album on it esp cuz of the title. You never know with Taylor, just like this announcement. She blows us all off, if it would have been a rep tv announcement, I feel like we’d all obvi be excited but more in a “we knew this was coming” way rather than “OMFG I CAN’T BELIEVE SHE JUST DID THAT”.
