They can be used with non-combat spells, they're just a complete waste since they're identical to fire runes.

Doing it this way no I believe you can add an extra step to make this more profitable (you’ll need 98 rc and twisted extract)

what xp per hour are u getting?

I was getting anywhere from 45-50k xp/h but you can get more at level 98 (you get more xp for making multiple runes)
