My gravel bike isn't very special except to me. I'm running a Poseidon Redwood that I upgraded the crankset and tires on, added a couple bags and a light and I just love it!

Loved this vid, absolutely on the mark as to what you need to consider when starting out on this money pit of an adventure 😮😂🙀 Brought myself a cheap secondhand frame off ebay 😮 Fortunately for me🤔 my son is in the business 😁 So my bike will be festooned with top end sram 'red' 'axs' 'zipp' and reverb 😎🥳 Lucky lucky me🤪 On a serious note, you could quite as easily do it on a real budget, just use the bike you have, or borrow one from a mate or neighbour (if you haven't got one, why not ask someone.🤔if you don't ask you won't get, and what's the worst that can happen is they say no??) , or there are some bike charities about, the bike kitchen in Reading is one , where they sell secondhand bikes cheap. I think the real winners are anybody who has a bike, no mater of how expensive or cheap it is? As long as you use it😁😎👍

If I don’t have a lock with me, I usually just take my bike into the store. I’ve never had any problems doing that where I live, but it could be different elsewhere. I live in a pretty rural area though so even a cheap lightweight bike lock is usually enough to protect your ride because it’s uncommon for people to cut bike locks here.

What you can add into 101 version 2 video is what kind of off-road tracks gravel bike can ride on. I have really hard time to find video that shows how rocky track gravel bike can handle, and where is the limit.

This is a question with a million answers - really what this boils down to is: - Your tyres - Your bike - Your skill level In a nutshell, 'gravel' can be anything you're physically capable of riding. If you're capable, you could take on mountain bike trails and routes on a gravel bike but as a general rule you want to aim for that sweet spot where the trail would be too easy on a mountain bike and not passable on a road bike. Rocky sections/rock gardens or technical sections will be your biggest obstacle, as a full/front suspension MTB can take it on quite easily, but a gravel bike is going to struggle.

I now don't run 42mm pathfinders on my 2020 Diverge - even if the "big S" say you can, scratches on the inside of fork blades and the chain stays say you can't! Now run 40mm max on my Diverge...

Is a Gravel Bike faster than a Cross Country bike? Because suspension is suppose to help you go faster isn't it? I know when I rode my cyclocross bike on gravel it was harder to control and beat the shit out of my body. I hated it.

  • @Restrapltd

Depends on the terrain - the rougher the terrain the more suspension is going to help you. If you're on rocky/muddy terrain then a XC bike is likely going to be faster and more comfortable over the technical terrain, but on roads and easy gravel, a gravel bike will always be faster.
