Everything Wrong With The Expendables 2 In 16 Minutes Or Less

Фильм және анимация

Hey, you know what people love? Sequels to movies they didn't really love. Which is why we end up with Expendables 3 in theaters soon, and why we decided to go looking for sins in The Expendables 2. We barely made it out alive.
Next week: Sins by special request, and some sinful sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins do YOU want to see recounted?

    Let's be honest. Nobody who went to watch this movie went to watch it for the plot. We watched it to see the most over-the-top, batshit crazy, totally cliche, and testosterone filled badassness that is an entire action movie with a cast made up of the most badass action stars ever. And it was awesome... and no one cared. But damn it's funny to see how many things the writers overlooked while making this the most over-the-top, batshit crazy, totally cliche, and testosterone filled badassness movie we've seen in forever.

    And this cannot be made more clear when Terry Crews Tells Arnold "you'll be terminated", Arnold says "I'll be back" twice and "Yippee ki yay" To Bruce Willis. These are obvious call outs to the movies that made them famous as action stars, and The Expendables is not trying to hide that one single bit. They even have Chuck Norris tell a freaking Chuck Norris joke!

  • @Kryptonater1994

    @Kryptonater1994

    Because it is so blatantly a parody they don't need to spell it out, its satire of the movies' most of them are famous for. Why do you think there are so many inside jokes and cheesy scenes with Arnie and Willis; the film has fun, like Pacific Rim, hell when I was a kid back in the late 80's it was a dream for some of these guys to appear in the same movie, and I would have paid to have seen Stallone, Willis and Arnold mowing down bad guys indiscriminately with big guns. I enjoy clever films such as The Machinist, V for Vendetta, Fight Club, Donnie Darko etc But sometimes you just wanna see classic action heroes quipping silly lines and mowing down bad guys because they are bad, Van Damme is called Vilain for Christ's sake! XD

    Kryptonater i wouldn't so much call this a parody because they meant it to be a parody, i call it a parody (not a very good one in my opinion) because the people making it are incompetent and think they are doing something cool when it just comes off as a lame parody. i had the same dream you did friend and by god did this disappoint me with the bad CGI, old action stars looking old, and just no emotion or fervor that their 80's movies had.

    So true. He's willing to kill his own henchmen which I presume at least some of them must be fighting men. And, you don't get to be the head of a criminal syndicate in Russia without killing "fighting men". And dude, you're a villain and here are people who want to stop you and will have more of a reason now, why not kill them!? Just ugh! I want to make a movie where the bad guy doesn't necessarily win but at least kills people when given the opportunity and like in real life, other good guys have to pick up the torch or just don't find themselves in stupidly dangerous situations that shouldn't happen considering all the technology they purportedly have! You can have a rocket launcher but not a machine to detect incoming aircraft? Just ugh. That's why Die Hard (the original) was cool (I know it isn't perfect) but most of what happened was withing the scope of plausible reality not all though. There are some BS moments in there but it is an action movie after all.

    I enjoyed the hell out of the Expendables movies. Of course that's because I accept them for what they are instead of trying to compare them to other genres of movies. If you're a fan of 80's action movies then you'll absolutely adore the Expendables. Hell, if you just go in with the mindset that it's going to be like an 80's action movie you'll probably have fun, even if you're not a major fan of them. However, if you go in expecting Oscar worthy performances and a Citizen Kane plot you'll be severely upset. I mean, the people who complain about it being "mindless" and whatnot need to stop. That's like going to see a Disney movie and complaining that there's too much "kid stuff".

    it's a movie for people to enjoy some mindless nostalgia. Its escapism just like anything else , but if you weren't an 80s alpha male baby it probably just isn't your particular flavor of nostalgia.

    "We've got all of Planet Hollywood together. Who are they shooting at? Who cares?" But this is literally the premise of these films. Watching these films for their story is like watching porn for the plotline... If you came into this movie expecting Shakespearean prose and witty character interaction then I feel like you've got the wrong kind of movie. I watched (and subsequently enjoyed) the first two expendables movies because they gave me what I expected; a crappy, cheesy, wafer-thin plot which was promptly covered by boatloads of explosions, men exploding, bullets, men being hit by bullets and men being hit by exploding boats. As an action film they do their job.

    Surprised there was no sin for how easily Stallone won against Van Damme. I have a feeling The Expendables series was a test by Hollywood to see how moronic they could make a movie and still make bank at the box office due to literally nothing but guns, explosions, and one-liners. To everyone who claims to love this movie: congratulations, now Hollywood knows that they no longer have to give a shit because people are too dumb to care about things like characters, plot, physics, or even real humor. All they need are loud noises and nostalgia and they can buy golden hot tubs for the whole staff. And its all thanks to you.

    +incarnedine It is due to gyroscope like effect. The front wheel spins - its basically a gyroscope, meaning it will resist outside forces trying to change its state. So as long as the bike doesn't suffer some sort of sharp impact, it will keep going forward and straight.

    Let me add some more sins: 1. 10:13 - Bulgarian registration 2. 7:59 - The guys in the bar were speaking Bulgarian, not Russian. Although it's probably okay because 99.5 percent of Americans can't tell the difference 3. 13:25 - Sofia airport 4. 14:03 - Bulgarian taxis 5. 14:09 - The sticker is in Bulgarian, not Russian. I mean, come on, I know Americans can't tell the difference between Russian and Bulgarian (I don't expect them to so no mean comments) but they can see that that's not the Russian flag...

    Here's what I wonder: In the first movie, Arnold and Sly meet with Willis to see who gets the job; Arnie backs out so Sly takes it. Presumably if Arnold had taken the job, he would have brought his team of badasses to the island to shoot the place up just like Sly did. Well now in THIS movie, here's Arnold trapped in some jungle so Sly's gang can rescue him. So WHERE'S ARNIE'S TEAM? ARE THEY BUSY? WHY ARE THEY NOT RESCUING THEIR LEADER/EMPLOYER?
