Фильм және анимация

Interview with the Vampire is not your average vampire movie. Well, actually, it's pretty average. It's brooding and sinful.

Um, Bram Stoker did NOT write his vampire's being vulnerable to sunlight. That wasn't a thing until the early 1900s when the creators of Nosferatu couldn't get the license for Dracula, and had to invent a new method of killing their vampire. Stoker's Dracula simply couldn't use most of his powers during the day, but he absolutely could move around in direct sunlight without harm.

  • @whatashirtshow2636

As I recall the turned humans might not have been able to withstand the sun though, the brides. In Bram Stoker's version Dracula was the progenitor of Vampires. In Anne Rice's novels the progenitor, what was her name? Akasha! She and Enkil were unaffected by sunlight as well. I like Mr. Stoker's Dracula very much... probably Gary Oldman's performance has much to do with that but I read the book before seeing the movie.

8:31 the books actually explain that Claudia was indeed already infected with the plague after being around her dying/dead mother. So Louis' choice was to either let her suffer from sickness (and probably die), or turn her. He became overcome by her scent and drank from her, leaving her even closer to death. That's when Lestat comes in and pushes Louis to finish the job and fully turn her, knowing that having a "daughter" would make Louis more loyal to him.

But I think logically, the answer was Armand ordered Claudia dead and when they grabbed Madeline (I think in the book she had been around longer) he gave them the green light to eliminate her too (knowing Louis would kill everyone anyway)

A gruesome incident occurred somewhere in the Central Europe I believe, after a burial of a few persons in the local churchyard, rumours went up that the buried persons were actually vampires. A group of brave volunteers, led by the local priest, made their way to the churchyard and dug up the bodies. They found that all bodies showed no signs of decay and some even had blushes on their cheeks. The priest read out a few prayers for the dead, holding a cross over the bodies, then declaring: "This is your Lord, Jesus Christ, who died for your sins." At that, one of the bodies seemed to shed a few tears. When the priest was finished the others hastily drove wooden stakes through the (un)dead bodies at which each one emitted a horrifying scream. The recently buried persons were probably still not dead after they were dug up. They were probably in some sort of permanent sleep paralysis so they could hear and feel everything around them, they just couldn't respond. Untill they drove stakes through those unfortunate people. Probably for the better. A *lot* of people were buried alive before the advent of modern medicine, early 20th Century.

Louis didn't just turn on the lights. He did it at super-speed. Now, admittedly the special effects to depict this super-speed were poorly done, but I doubt the "local drunk" could have done that. The statue didn't actually move. It was a form of psychic power. Louis was looking back through time to see the model who originally posed for the statue. The artist captured a tiny bit of her soul and Louis could see it. Yes, old New Orleans had tons of prostitutes. They hung red lanterns in their windows to advertise their profession; hence the term "Red Light District."

Fun fact: in the books, Armand was quite young. Like, 15 or 16 when he was made a vampire. Which is a huge “crime” in vampiric world. Armand played by an adult male seemed funny to me in this movie. But…. Antonio Banderas. Lol It’s funny that CinemaSins repeatedly says vampires are immortal- but that doesn’t mean they are invincible. Lestat COULD die. But vampires can “level” up in strength and abilities. That way it makes them harder to kill, the more powerful they are. Lestat was quite old, and was indeed, VERY powerful. He could withstand direct sunlight at one point. (But still burn, just not die like a lesser vampire would). In Memnoch, The Devil- Satan himself wanted to recruit Lestat to battle God, BECAUSE Lestat became so powerful. In Queen of the Damned, which describes the origin of Vampires, the Queen was so old and powerful they were like marble Statues. They could soar their minds all over the world. And reframe from the need to drink blood. Lestat’s rockstar lifestyle woke her up from her marble sleep. Also fun fact: in the book, Claudia was roughly 5-6 years old when she was converted to a vampire by Louie. A child. And Lestat finished the process mainly as a way to make Louis happy, and force him to remain with Lestat. Gay drama without the gay, I suppose. Huge manipulation though by Lestat. They built a family unit, essentially. That’s why the Parisian vampires killed Claudia- because under their “laws” children should never be converted to vampirism. That, and she attempted to kill her Maker, Lestat, which also was a big no-no. This is just CinemaSins, and they get a lot wrong with their reviews because they haven’t read the original content of books/ movie lore- but I recommend anyone to actually READ the Vampire chronicles by Anne Rice. It explains everything CinemaSins gets wrong in their videos. One of the greatest novel series ever written. Anne Rice is a true talented and classic writer. Much love to her for all her books.

QotD had so much going against it. The Studio suits wanted lightning to strike twice but the things that they demanded be in the movie against the Director's choices were part of what made it "ugh" to so many fans. Like the rock music. The Director wanted a mini-series but had to take what he could get so he used it to tell a story influenced by the books rather than adaptation of the books. Some of the QotD deleted scenes were interesting. I understand why they moved Marius to be the sire of Lestat--honestly, he was the mentor so why have the sire in the movie for 5 minutes before killing himself? Save the audience's confusion. I feel so bad for the Director because of all the verbal beatings the fans have given him all these years. Yes, I watched an interview with him which is where I learned these things. QotD is a guilty pleasure. Tom still > Sterling though.

I loved the first 3 novels very much. Especially the second novel where Lestat feels wronged after reading Interview With a Vampire so he decides to give his side of the story and spreading it throughout bookstores everywhere, breaking vamp rules but still not giving af. Truly the brat prince as other vamps scornfully describe him as. Haha, he eventually even creates his own famous rock band! Lets not forget why he's labeled "prince" though I'll let future readers discover the story behind that themselves. But yes, Lestat's character was so well written and entertaining that it's a shame they didn't follow the first movie with a second novel adaptation. My warning to anyone interested in trying out the novels is to enjoy the great acting of the first movie but please please please ignore all that is the film "Queen Of The Damned" as that was a terrible adaptation of the novel. During and after "Memnoch The Devil" I started to lose a bit of interest in the vampire chronicles with the exception of a few cool parts of some later novels. What do you guys think?

In the books, Malloy actually goes through a lot of suffering after the movie before hes even able to be made into a vampire. He's debatably extremely unlucky

I love that Louie burns his own house down and disappears and somehow thinks that local authorities will just believe the slaves when they say their master turned into a vampire and freed them before apparently committing suicide.

I watched this movie out of context when I was 17 back in Portugal at 2am, I thought to myself 'Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, that's pretty nice", then "Vampires? What?" I couldn't stop watching, I did not understand a thing, it was so uncanny and weird, thanks CinemaSins for doing this service for us.

For you who doesn’t know, Anne Rice continued to write on the chronicle a few years ago. And have given out three books in the Prince Lestat series.
