    At a bare minimum I wish transient resin could be earned and World Bosses were 20 resin. World bosses have such terrible rewards for a 40 resin cost. You have to kill them over and over to ascend characters.

    Weekly bosses should also be free. It doesn’t make sense to time gate them AND make them cost resin.

    Personally, I think just making Fragile Resin easier to get like including it as rewards for spiral abyss completion or daily commission rewards would make a lot of difference. It won't affect people who think resin is already enough as it is and it'll appease the people who want more. Players will get to decide when they want to use those Fragile Resin because as it is, it's pretty insane how little extra stamina we get when compared to other gachas.

    Or you can pay for the battle pass… At the end of the day, if the game doesn’t make money out of its players, it will cease to exist.

    @@Laure__Line mihoyo making fragile resin more abundant will do nothing to change the millions spent on the game. it would only positively affect the game as it gives f2p a better experience. whales will still whale you don’t need to worry about a company like mihoyo struggling to make money when people still c6 r5 every new five star

    ​@Laure Line having other sources for fragile resin would hardly stop incentivizing players from buying the Battle Pass. A fragile resin or two from completing Abyss isn't going to bankrupt them. I wish you people would stop acting like every suggestion to improve the game experience will somehow ruin this company.

    Ironically I would think that increasing the amount of fragile resin you could get per week or whatever would incentivize further spending. Right now I will skip banners because I have no resources to build the character. If I could build more characters I would be incentivized to pull for more characters and spend more money to make those pulls.

    With each region bringing in more stuff to do, there should be a resin increase. Same with map pins.

    Yes! 150 is an absurdly small custom pin limit. If their goal is to encourage exploration, this should be a lot higher.

    @@feelshowdy you can save a few pins with characters that have the ability to highlight local specialties, but with Fontaine coming, I definitely won't have enough to mark stuff on the map. 😔

    One of the ways they could help with this, at least IMO, is remove the cap on condensed resin. Let us condense what we want as we please, then use it when we have time. Most of us playing Genshin are adults who work, and we have to balance personal life with work as well. And Hoyo cares more, I think for its paying audience, than its not paying. So may as well take that next step.

    There's multiple solutions that I've put forward. One is that I think that there should be 4 more commissions each day that give you 10 resin each. Another is they could just use one of their good popular events like Labyrinth Warriors, randomize it, and let us run it, resin free, to grind for a currency that we can spend to fix our artifacts (changing substats/main stats, rerolling low rolls, etc). I wouldn't even care if it was grindy, just as long as there was a damn guaranteed progression.

    considering star rail added a feature for crafting artifacts with the ability to choose what the main stat will be at the cost of a rare item, we can maybe hope its like hoyo trying out the idea and if it goes well considering adding it into genshin (even if its not crafting the artifacts like in star rail but just an item to control or change the main stat on one)

    From my experience resin also really hampers the multiplayer experience. I will be playing for about an hour with my friends and when the resin runs dry the party is over. You could do some exploration, but otherwise you're heavily restricted by this.

    One of the best thing I love about gaming is choice, resin give players so little it's mind numbing. The artifact system is balance around doing hundred of domain runs and getting thousands on thousands of artifacts but limiting them to at least 8 per day, not to mention the rapid release of new artifacts. Resin can still limit artifact progress because leveling them up takes a shit ton of mora.

    Not having artifact sets or artifact rerolling is really bad. If Mihoyo wanted to retain the RNG of artifacts, possible options I’d like are: 1. Artifact rerolling 2. Removal of flat stats outside of EM 3. Condensing elemental goblets into Elemental Damage %, additive to specific damage percents to not confuse things. 4. Adding Inazuma artifacts to strongbox. A regions artifacts should be on strongbox when the next one starts.

    @@shadycat8898 ​ i agree. Artifact rerolling/resetting should also require resin to balance it out. They don’t need to remove flat stats, but they should buff them to about 75-95% of what % stats give because currently you need four rolls into one flat stat for it to be comparable to one % stat. Flat stats were also much better in beta but MHY decided to nerf them for dumb reasons. The fact that elemental damage is separate for goblets is so f**king stupid. It def needs to be consolidated. Honestly I’d rather see the stop releasing useless niche artifact sets that no one uses lol. They should be versatile enough. Instead they force us to farm the same domains because they can’t think of better sets that aren’t tied to 1-2 characters….

    When i started Genshin this year (thanks Necrit) i went and optimized my resin and saved up the refills for artefact farming a specific set (Pale flame) cause i wanted to pull for Eula when she comes out (Eula WHO!?). I USED ABOUT 72 REFILLS I SPENDED THE ENTIRE DAY WHEN I REACHED THE MAX LV DOMAIN AND WASNT EVEN ABLE TO GET A FULL 5 PIECE PERFECT SET. I spended about 4500 resin ON 1 ARTEFACT DOMAIN and keep in mind the other set to me (atleast for now) is completely useless. Ever since after that i just dropped farming artefacts and im just pilling resin refills for boss encounters and lv materials not even gonna bother with artefacts until something changes. THAT IS THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE FOR GENSHIN (i dont mind the somewhat easy game)

    I mean.... That's the goal. If you need hundreds of runs for a good piece and can only do 8 per day, you've just forced your players to play for a month or two with very little effort.

    After 2 years or so, "choice" doesn't even seem to be in descriptor for the game. Should be "randomness" and "limitation". Character kits themselves have been thinning out to the point only 1 of their 3 skills are useful. Some characters only are really good in one style while being junk in others. Weapon animations per character are the only obvious, varying aspect. Controls of characters and weapons don't differ much to have their own much more stylized mechanics or gimmicks without facepalming through artifact RNG. The game is carried by its aesthetic and not much more which is an utter waste of the actually nice mechanics it has.

    My only thought that i wish to be done with Resin is make Weekly bosses free of resin, cause you can only get the rewards one time anyways and increase the resin cap to 200 with 5 minutes per resin regen rate.

    @@pontoancora I've recently decided that after I have enough materials to triple crown two characters from talent level 6 (36 weekly boss drops total), I no longer farm that weekly boss. Currently only fighting the Sumeru weeklies (60 resin total). I used to fight all weekly bosses for those bow billets, and it was painful (had to forfeit all resin Monday, the transient resin from Serenitea pot and then some more Tuesday. I'd still have to keep fighting weeklies Wednesdays if I kept fighting all of them now).

Not using the 3 30 resin stacks is a waste of resin, because you're forfeiting getting a 60 resin reward for the cost of 30 resin, and in that reward are included Mora, Character EXP, Adventure Rank EXP, Friendship EXP, artifacts, elemental gems, billets, that crystal thingy to change a boss item into another, not only the boss mats.

    One problem with those statistics is that players who only login once a day would miss out on ~31% of the potential 288 resin, which is a worse percentage than even Honkai Star Rail (a 25% loss). It's unnecessary layer of FOMO IMO.

    Totally agree with the resin rework. Hope Mihoyo improve the resin system so that we can do more meaningful things other than wasting them on artifact domains that drops "trash" artifacts. Great video as always!!!

    One of your best videos so far. In the current state of the game, they could triple our resin gains, let resin accumulate a lot before caping/expiring and go as far as lowering the resin cost, and still we would be griding almost every day, specially with the rng of artifact and how a lot of us are working towards perfect stats. They would not lose for sure, most likely they would gain more, as some of us that got tired of that in the game would maybe come back. It would be easier to invite friends to give a try also.

    I was thinking this everyday. After you finish 4 commisions you should be rewarded with one original resin Cresent at the adventurers guild each day. They should also make events where you can earn resin

    But the thing is with fragile resin: Events already contain it and they give out like 1-2 fragiles. There’s also battlepass fragile resin. And it’s quite frequent in it aswell. There’s transient resin that you can buy from the tea pot. 1 fragile resin per 4 commissions would be broken. It’d take you just under 100 days to reach 100 fragile resin - taking in the fact that events and battlepass rewards give you fragiles. 100 fragile resin is 6000 resin. And you could receive that in probably 80 days or so. That is mind numbingly broken. At this point hyv could increase the resin cap and decrease the recharge time. Like 200 resin cap with a 5 minute recharge time. In a day you could get 288 resin if you timed it perfectly over 24 hours. Imho I think that’d be better

    @@Miak0oo No one really uses tea pot and not everyone buys the battle pass. With an increasing number of characters and equipment, they should actually both increase the resin cap and include a daily drop. Battle pass can always be adjusted to have more resin along with events, I don't see why having a lot of resin is a bad thing coz at the end of the day it doesn't guarantee anything. It doesn't guarantee drops, it doesn't guarantee equipment stats, it doesn't guarantee sub stats upgrades it doesn't guarantee exp crit just gives you more chances to try

    It's weird to me why Hoyo reduces the weekly boss resin for only three bosses, why? Also in regards to artifacts (the pain, oh the pain) other Gacha have re-roll mechanics, why doesn't Genshin? As a week one player I would be happy to spend resin on rerolling artifacts instead of feeling like I've been kicked inbetween the legs by RNG nine times out of ten.     Someone could do the maths but I used to do all of them weekly up to around Shogun, when more were added it was eating too much resin. I do have a massive stockpile of their unique drops. Now I just do the newest ones to build up their material. And artefact rerolling, that's what the strongbox system is for?

    We never need to do more than 3 weekly bosses. I did that math when they made the 4th boss, and reality showed that I was right. Now, old players farm one boss most of the time, with some little overlap.

    One thing I thought of before was that all future statue of the sevens can give resin cap increase since they don't give stamina increase anymore. Maybe each statue level can increase resin cap by 5 so every region increases resin cap by 50

    They will never add something like that because otherwise they will get "NO MONEY" by refilling it 6 times a day, which costs PRIMOGEMS, which you can only get in MASS with real money.

    HI3 already increases the stamina cap with levels, so I don't see why the same can't be implemented in Genshin.

    I gave up long ago to grind domains for the "best" artifacts Get the important main stats en hope the upgrade is merciful These days my characters share artifacts and some day hoyoverse will gift us loadouts

    That wouldn't really solve the problem of resin coming too slowly. The real solution would be to increase the rate of resin replenishment + a higher resin limit.

    At least give us 200 resin, fragile resin that give us 80, and decrease the cost of world bosses at 20 (a character fully ascended means nothing if it's without talents/artifacts, so it doesn't hurt so much in the "economy" of genshin).

    I don't mind spending 40 resin on world bosses, those drops are guaranteed. The same goes for talents and such, all the drops are guaranteed. Fully leveling characters, their talents and weapons don't seem to be much of a chore, even if my progression is slow, it is guaranteed. Artifacts however, are the worst. Always the part I dread most. I have limited attempts, and the rewards are not guaranteed. It's really hard to motivate myself to artifact farm now. I recently decided to give up on farming artifacts for a bit and just focus on leveling another character and their talents. Artifact farming is just so demoralizing. It's difficult to make yourself go back to it if it's just constant RNG and limited number of attempts.

    something that's quite silly to me is that weekly bosses are time gated by the fact you can only claim their rewards once a week, but also require time gated resin to be able to claim their rewards. it makes that talent resources are double time gated and you kind of have to prioritize which weekly boss you want to claim rewards from cuz as of 3.6 there's now 8 weekly bosses and only 3 cost-halving opportunities

    i think what they did with HSR would be nice, make it 6 minute refresh, make it 240 total resin and allow for the overflow up to 2400.

    The real problem is NOT the resin system, but the Artifact system. Farming level-up materials in Genshin is very well balanced. The only thing that needs improvement is the Artifact system. They need to make farming artifact more easier for players to get what they want, and not completely reliant on RNG.

    I'd be less salty about resin as a whole if getting the artifacts that i actually want was easier. I spent 40 of my saved up fragile resin to grind out a set for Kuki with the current banners and I only managed to get one EM piece of the three I need,a nd the substats on it are shit. The other two are hp and defense, also with very meh substats. It's really frustrating how every single level of an artifact is rng. The rarity, the main stat, each individual substat, each individual substat added through leveling, which substat gets increased at the 4 level intervals, and even the fucking increase itself to each stat. Fucking ridiculous.

    The most frustrating part about artifacts is they seem to be so deliberately made as difficult as possible. In my mind, there are three easy fixes that don't even touch on resin - 1| All artifacts start with 4 substats 2| All substat rolls are max rolls, no variation 3| this would be the most difficult to implement now, post release, but remove flat substats (hp def atk) they're pointless, there aren't any characters that benefit from them over their % counterpart. Even if you want that stat on your char, if an art rolls entirely flat hp, the art is useless.

    ikr. I did the math and found out that even the best flat stat roll loses out against the weakest % counterpart - even on characters who would profit from the %-increase the least.

    tbh i feel like the crux of the problem is not with the resin system - its a problem with the artifact system. Like with proper planning, its possible to get enough talent materials to level up all talents in a week, and enough boss mats in another week or so (at max). Which leaves the resin - which everybody is also talking about

    tbh when your weapon level/talent level is at the point of needing gold material it can take a day's worth of condensed resin for very little gold drops. i ran a level 90 domain for talent ascension material and didn't even get a purple drop from it 💀 combine that with the mega broken artifact system and it's enough to warrant criticism toward the resin system itself. weapon and talent ascension drops just aren't reliable enough imo.

    Yeah increasing the cap and making better rewards is always nice, but the real problem doesn't even lie with the resin system, but rather the endgame overall, it's good to be able to create new team and build new character, but if it's building an optimized comp to explore the area where you one shot everything is just meaningless.... Endgame first, give us a reason to grind!

    I'd personally hope for increased resin regeneration rates over weekends/holidays, since most people are home and want to play. It's annoying when you have the time, but don't have the resin to do things.

    Warframe actually has a GOOD idea with those sometimes. When they have a big event, the following weekend gives players double XP. I could see Genshin doing a patch weekend where resin regenerates twice as fast or something.

    I don't expect the problem with the resin system to be fixed anytime in the future. There would have to be an exodus in mass and/or a significant drop in genshin's profits if you really wanted to see any of the game's main criticisms actually be addressed, either of which is unlikely to happen. I'd say sound advice for any player be it old or new, is to just find alternative games to put your attention into.

    How to fix artifacts: If you use a certain main stat artifact to upgrade another artifact, boosts the chances of the certain substat being increased. This allows for a controllable way to get certain substats on artifacts still with a small amount of RNG

    resin is counterproductive, you want people to pull every character, but you cant use them, because its normally better to spend the resin on your best character rather than use it on a new one due to its scarcity

    Very good video. I‘ve run into this problem too many times myself, having to put off building characters to a usable state for the sake of finishing another… Not only do I not have resources to farm for artifacts this way, weapons also need some upgrading. It‘s really annoying because sometimes months go by until I can build a new character. I do love the story content as well but I‘ve come to care about team optimization too lately

    When you level up a lot of characters, you don’t just farm perfect artefacts for one, then for another, etc. You level up several characters at a time and make the best of the artefacts you already have, knowing that you’ll be able to get better ones later. This way you can build and play most characters without turning mad in the process.

    I definitely agree. If world bosses were even like 30 resin it would make so much of a difference. I like that resin is limited because it gives me a reason to play every day and progress accordingly, but at this point it feels like unless I get on twice a day when my resin is refreshed, I only get 4 world bosses or 4 domains a day. This makes it harder with weekly bosses needing to be completed and my compulsion to get good artifacts for my characters. One needs to change, not both. Either resin replenishes faster (I personally don't like this one because I can be too busy to get on/stay on for that long) or make everything cost less. Edit: they could also increase the resin cap so that it doesn't feel as awful to log in and see ur resin at max

    If they insist on resin for artifacts, it needs to be rebalanced. You can farm for literal months and still have nothing good. I love Itto, i've dumped probably 30k resin into the Husk domain at this point, and I have ONE barely useable set for Itto, and it has no ER. It is immense pain to play around in abyss chambers that dont drop extra white particles on enemy death. I would reroll the artifacts he already has to get better versions of them, but... well, to quote Tortellini that "opportunity is quite hard to come by." I would rather artifact cost no resin to acquire, OR they drop the shitty flat stats from five star artifacts. If it rolls into a flat stat twice, its dead to me, on to the next piece. Or make it so, we can use resin to farm a resource that will let us reset an artifact and reroll it. Also, give us more easily acquirable Artifact xp. Im sorry, but wasting 30 minutes on fodder routes for those respawning 1* pieces is uhhhhhhhhh. Fucking stupid. End of story. Lets not even talk about the pitiful rate for talent book drops. It is absurd you can put a condensed into a domain, and get 3 green books, and 3 blue books out, and not see a single purple for dozens of runs. I would expect that from 20 resin. But 40? Excuse me? Thats infuriating, and it insults my time. Especially the Mondstat talent domain. I dont get why weekly bosses require resin either. I can only collect the rewards from them once a week. Its already on a timer, so why does there have to be a resin cost associated as well? Doubly so, considering the drop rate for billets is garbage. I get that craftable weapons are niche as hell, and only a select few are actually BIS for certain team comps. But I still ya know, need a couple extra Iron Stings. One for Kuki, Kazoo, Alhathaim, any possible future EM scaling characters. And I only have one. So on tiddy man Haitham it goes. The way resin is implemented just feels bad to play around. Once you've gotten a region explored, there's nothing to do. You log on to spend resin, and thats it. The game lacks meaningful, repeatable content that makes that repeated resin spending worth it. I would love to see endless modes that test endurance, or survival/defence modes, and push the more creative aspects of team building. Abyss just doesnt do that, its been getting stricter and stricter dps checks that punish creativity. If you arent using the same handful of meta teams, it requires significantly more work to clear it in time.

    I think making it so u can not pay resin. Say u beat the domain go up to the flower to CHECK what it offers u if it says "hey il give u a defense main stat with these stats attached" i can just go "NO PLEASE" and play a new round without paying any resin. Sure you still need artefacts lv ups and you will still have to pray it rolls into the stats you want but its a massive improvement.

    Resin is there to give you an achievable goal every day. If I didn't had the resin limit, I would probably grind like crazy for the first week, get burned the hell out, and then stop bothering with the game for a while.

    Resin limit is fine but it shouldn't be this less. 180 resin per day is a joke and it takes me less than 5 mins to burn through it. It was good when the game was released as we had fewer characters but now they really need to increase the resin limit.

    Totally agree. Some things should be changed (I wish fragile/transient resin gave you at least 80 (2 bosses), artifact grinding needs focusing, and condensed resin could be stacked for more than 1 day so if you had a busy week, you COULD grind on the weekend), but Genshin is a steady-as-she-goes live service game and I like it that way. I remember grinding my weekends away in WoW because you *could* do like 30 or 40 dailies if you went back to old areas, and it was exhausting.

    there's one thing you forgot, the resin system is excellent to prevent people from deliberately burning through content and cry about that there's nothing to do u genshin which as someone with a new account its laughingly hilarious, there's these very vocal pseudointellectual group of people claiming it's a bad game because you have nothing to do when the game was released, apart from its being free, and a work of art they burned through the short story available then left of crying as if it was something that cost them money and was forced at gun point, but the resin cap should be increased, it's an excellent system thou, genshin cannot be like minecraft, that's because minecraft is a sandbox game that is literally boxes, triangles and rectangles etc that's infinitely less storage to render then something like genshin, they cannot make genshin endless fun because the endless fun in games like minecraft 99% comes from exploring, finding resources, funding new nether coordinates etc, whichever is incredible sense of freedom that deserves praise, but it's an unrealistic expectation that people place upon story based games with incredible detail and Triple A level of graphical fidelity

    I think I agree with what you're saying. Except for artifacts, resin is a decent enough system. I'd maybe increase the overall storage capacity or amount of refined resin, but otherwise, the real problem is the random nature of artifacts. Fix artifact randomness a little and genshin would become a lot better.

    Yeah IMO the big problem is that Resin limit is static forever. It doesn't upgrade, say, with WL unlocks or AR increases, even though you have less and less things to do as you progress in the world exploration.

    A idea I came up with is that Hoyo would add another option to every artifact domain that unlocks at AR 45 that doesn't cost resin, but in which you also not guaranteed to get a 5 star artifact. Though I have no clue about good game design so idk how good this idea actually is.

    To me, Resin isn't a concern anymore. At this point, I don't have any particular goals in mind anymore so I started "wasting" it on Leylines less for the Leyline-Rewards and more for the monster-drops. I also started to level up talents of pretty much all units to 8/8/8 even if I don't plan to play them. The problem is, that my main characters are already set up pretty well and nothing in the game needs more than 8 at any given time. So there's hardly a reason to experiment with different characters if the ones you have get the job done. If anything, I'd like them to increase the inventory-space for artifacts. At least that way I could farm those without having to clean up every few runs. It's the main thing discouraging me from trying to improve my characters past level and talents.

    Resin was a problem in the first levels, maybe for 6 months or so. After that, we already built lots of characters, we just don't care. Now I have 60 chars maxed (699) being f2p, with 100 fragile resin left in inventory. Why would I need more?

    I’ve taken all my non-c6-locked characters to 9/9/9 (some crowns) for tangible progress and avoiding artifact farming. Several are like 9/10/9 or such with no raised artifacts- usually Gladiator’s or Wanderer’s Troupe from weekly bosses for nominal set bonuses. 🫤

    Never. Because it isn't a problem at all. Maybe it slowed the progression on the first 6 months, but it's a game for 10 years... I'm a f2p, and after I max almost everything, resin loses any purpose.

    with how I play, barely touching the game for an update or 2 to stock up resorces and then splurge them on my team, I gotta say resin is excessively restrictive on artifacts, hell my main DPS since I started playing (Noelle, don't judge me) is still running some purples because I've yet to get good rng on a feather or flower. Btw my team is Noelle, Gorou, Zhongli, Itto

    Hey atleast you can farm a set for almost all of your characters at once since they use the same element say you get DEF mainstats thats good for Noelle. But if you are like me Eula (WHO!?) i have to farm Pale which is only good to Razor and her.

    I'm impressed we didn't touch the other side of the coin, DEVs (not all of them) are not only interesting in giving a good experience to the player, but also they want to make as much money as possible. There's a reason this system exists and why its good, maybe next time we can touch the psychological side of gachas and genshin still abuses this. Most people would think they have a "choice" and that its good that a game like this, genshin or other gachas, limits thir playtime, but in reality they don't, they make you an addict, some people might not notice it, its mostly for those that feel anxious when they don't log in to spend their resin, or when they know they might "burn" resin or lose one of those "limited" events because of the rewards, or "its fin, its only 15mins of gameplay everyday, just a little bit on the morning and night doesn't hurt any1!" There are some good talks of these of other mobile games that explain this deeper, its actually pretty interesting and there's a lot of psychological studies to support this practices (wether they are ethic or not, that's another 2 cents...) "Fixing" a gacha game like this, its simple, anyone who plays a bit of them knows what they would want, hence I didn't see much point in the second partt of the video, its obvious we want more, funny thing is, i feel when we get those, then we would want more. Its a non ending cycle and we would never be satisfied, at least until burnout happens.

Pulled Nahida on the rerun, started getting everything for her build (talents only 6/8/8, mind you) ready sometime in the (end of?) second week of 3.5, still not finished with artifacts (again, on-field build).

    @@anadaere6861 That would only double the amount of drops you get, or half the time it takes to *actually get what you want* from those *absolutely cursed* artifact domains. 2 × 0% chance to get something good = still 0% chance to get anything likeable. Artifact domain runs don't have the right to even cost 5 resin, if anything at all, in their current state. I can do the math on the chances of getting any single piece that you would actually want to use, just to gain some perspective.

    Game dev here, good video wanted to expand and add to some of your points. 1. Correct genshin is a endless game but isn't designed that way, vars points this out as "it's backwards". What he means is.... ask yourself what is the purpose of RNG in today's games? It's to prolong lack of content (literally was taught this in college). See his carrot on the stick analogy. 2. Energy systems in general FORCE you to stop playing the game. They are actually redundant and you don't have to use them in gachas in general depending on the monetization. (Studios just follow the crowd) genshin does something backwards vars doesn't mention: you can buy resin with primos but only 5 times a day and the cost increases. This system is backwards and discourages players to spend money. If they changed this they would triple their investment. 3. Never underestimate the player: these systems that genshin puts in only work in the short term. No amount of new content will get players to invest if the systems that aren't updated. See vars' video on leveling characters. 4. Games that play themselves - to expand on his minecraft analogy genshin really doesn't have much outside of leveling characters (which is a intrinsic motivation) the game has to "give you goals" instead of you making your own goals (see elden ring) games that do that increase their replayability. 5. Making games last forever - its okay if the game ends if it's good people will come back when new content drops. The problem stems from making so little content with very little replayability that you use RNG to hide it. See domains part. This is a psychological trick - the intrinsic motivation to level the character and make them stronger tricks you into ignoring the bad rng for a extended period. Eventually though your brain realizes this: burnout. 6. People don't hate challenge, they hate being punished. Alot of these systems punish you for wasting your time. "Oh well come back tomorrow and try again" player: "but I want to keep playing there is still stuff to do" I can add more but if you guys have questions feel free. I'm basically rambling

    There needs to be something that you can maybe condense like 100 artifacts down into one with stats of your choice or smth. Hell, it could even be something ridiculous like 500 artifacts for one back, and that would still be a massive improvement to the current artifact system

    thumbs up for video, 100% agree on resin issue. Artifact grinding is in very bad spot. If they would add some way how earn/speed up resin refresh - like killing monsters, doing stuff, etc, it also would be good. Also co-up inprovment would be quite good so un can do quests together with others and maybe earn some rewards that way. I rly like this game but now at ar54 world feels beatifull yet so emty, dead and lifeless ... and now when it comes down to just daily commisions and resin it feels sad ... Hoping Fontine update will make some real changes but ima not getting my hopes high.

    Resin cap should be 400, and recharge increments increased to every 2 mins per resin, increasing in increments until AR 60. I think that those 'once off' domains should reset weekly and give fragile resin for completing each one, instead of primo gems (or heck could add those in too altogether it's what 2-3 rolls?) Edit: Another ideas I got while listening to the end bit was this. Have talents, artifact domains and bosses have a 'freebie' portion. Say 5 runs for domains/artifacts and 2 free bosses everyday that reset with dailies. After this freebie part, then they cost resin (as they do now). I find that far more fair, and accessible. Genshin is a mobile game that requires internet that should be offline, it advertises coop but does it so poorly (no shared progression, collectibles etc.) And could have me playing for hours and hours a day, but limits me to a short ~30 min span most days, because resin limit. The only time I spend a bit longer is if there's a new character I got that I want to level. Edit: Plus, all these characters and it takes a week or more to get each of them to 70-80 (not even 90!) and there are so many. Not to mention crystal ore farming for weapon ascension xp or artifacts. They find it reasonable to take 2-3 weeks minimum to get a character in an 'okay' state. Ridiculous. 3:40 My first thought as to why things are the way they are is.. time. While there are many chests, collectibles, quests. Ultimately when you're done in an area - you're done, except for dailies. So, they really stretch out how long you'll be in an area by hiding the 'biggest prizes' behind resin, time gates. To slow you down and make sure that you don't blow through all the 'content' in a few days. I can understand that, but on th e flip side I feel that a majority of genshin's content isn't very.. in-depth if that makes sense. For example what makes Inazuma take longer than Mondstadt or Dragonspire for example to fully explore is the puzzles. Those are time sinks to get you to waste more time in an area and Hoyo gets more time to create content. On one side time gates make it so players don't 100% catch up to stuff, be it complete an area 100% too soon or get a character 'near perfect'. The issue though is it greatly dampens how invested someone can get in Genshin. I recall spending (in my youth) 6 hours or so a day on WoW farming stuff or doing quests, exploring, chasing achievements etc. None of it hidden behind a time gate. Or doing dungeons/raids for many many hours - again not hidden behind a time gate, yet each day I was very invested and came back for more. With Genshin I get on, do dailies, use or condense resin and then.. nothing else to do maybe ~30 mins on. But if I had more of a resin cap, or if those one off domains would give the weekly fragile resin as a reward, then I'd have more to do and could stay in longer. Because I'm not as invested, I don't see a reason to spend money on Genshin. So that's the consequences of Hoyo's choice of time-gating players, no one wins, both parties suffer a bit because of it.

    @bird that's simple. Rolling must require online connection and all that. Afterwards you go back to main menu and play single player that is now updated based on new rolls. Rolls cant be edited offline only via server side.

    @bird There are still ways that this can be fixed - just because there is a potential exploit doesn't mean the idea is void. Warframe is a great example; you still need to connect to the internet, but it's so small (even with 1500 ping satellite internet that I have). Combat is local, meaning internet can be slow like mine and still feel the same as someone with internet (except in coop but that isn't my point). You can do challenges, and missions as long as you want, each mission you complete it connects to the data servers and updates. People have tried in the past to abuse it (use cheat engine for example to 'create' more resources), but were caught nearly immediately. So there is no worry of players cheating or exploiting stuff. I think it's stupid that a game that is 99% singleplayer requires a moderately fast (1MB/s+ ~200 ping) to be playable. When Warframe (and I'm sure other games too) have done what I explained and it works. Played 2k hours with great internet, and another 1500 of Warframe with the bad internet I have, yet couldn't tell the difference except I had actual loading times (about 15-30 seconds) when completing missions.

    Completely agree with the resin rework. There have been MULTIPLE times where I spent *300-400* Resin in *ONE* day and hardly got anything decent. I spent a whole patch farming for artifcats for the Raiden Shogun *DAILY* and hardly got anything decent, when I did 90% of the time, they turned into duds. Only recently by the grace of God did I get artifacts decent enough to give her a respectable 60/160 w./270%ER ratio but even then her ATK is lacking. Some rework to the resin system would be nice.

    I wasted my entire beginer resin refills (72) the moment i reached max lv domain to farm pale flames (about 4500 resin). I got 4 5stars and 1 4star. Didnt even get close to a perfect set at all maybe only the circlet cause it has about 55% (in Crit damage and Chance in total so god roll).

    Genshin needs following Resin Improvements: 1. Remove Resin Costs of World Bosses finally, or at least reduce them further down by now, from 30 Cost for 3 World Bosses to 20 Cost for 3 Bosses, or better 30 Cost for 5 Bosses, before the Cost goes up, to give players a better incentivation to do more than only 3 of them a week. 2. Implement finally a second Resin, that is used for futurer higher scaled/progressed content beyond AR60/ beyond WL8, beyond Level 90, that once you surpass that line of progression, makes all old content become cost no resin anymore, as all new content will costz from that point on then only resin - so basically a new higher layer of resin gettin added, lets call it "Concentrated Resin" or whatever, you get the gist. The moment players get past AR60 the accounts should stop collecting normal Resin and stat collecting the higher "Concentrated Resin" that you need from that moment on for all futurous content that lies behind all content from pre AR61+, while all pre AR61 content becomes free of resin cost, repeatable as you want, because it privides you only rewards, that are weaker, than everythign as new rewards you will get from AR61+ onwards with the help of the new higher layer resin that replaced the first resin as game currency 3. increase the Resin Cap for that second layer resin from lousy cheap 160 units to at least 240 or 320 units and increase the speed at which Resin is gained from ridiculous 1 per 8 minuts to 1 per 6 or 5 minutes as basically a reward of game progression for you playing the game so long, that you reached the higher layer of resin, to showcase that way your game progress, that you are from now on rewarded with a larger pool to accumulate resin, without fearing to loose resin into the void after hittign the cap, and getting rewarded to gain faster enough resin to do the new content that gives you the best loot/stuff you need for the current layer of character progression the game offers past AR60 4. Remove the nonsense of refilling resin with the help of real money, and be more generous with Resin as Event Rewards and Gacha Loot... the Gacha the game has for now soon 3 years is so freaking boring compared to other games, is outrageous how non existent its variety of loot is, because all it offers is only characters, or weapons as results with even more weapons as garbage, when they could at least add to the garbage tier more variety in loot from the gaha ppol with Resin Bags, Mora Bags, Artefact Boxes, Weapon Exp bags ect. to provide just more interestign gacha results as 3star results, than only boring weapons over n over n over n over again - but thats a different topic now 5. Improve the gained Resin from doing Daily Commissions by letting as do after AR60 more than just 4 Commissions a day, increasign the number of commissions from 4 to say 7, so that we can earn aside of some more primos a day also some additional resin from then on daily as the additional done commissions woudl reward then some resin instead of say friendship points, plus that would increase the chances that we can get commissions that are required for achievements, to get these more reliably done, without having to wait ages for the luck to get them..

    I started treating character building more like character customization in a way, thinking not about what role they have but what role I want to force them in, and how to do that I think if Hoyoverse tries to lean harder in this place, and starts giving more fragile resin, they could make it work much better Just give more artifact sets like thundering fury that don't just give more dmg but actually change gameplay

    I remember way back when I started, there was a period of time maybe between AR 20 and 30 where the pressure to upgrade my whole team while being power blocked by resin limiting character growth gave me a LOT of frustration. It's a frustration I'm actually sensing on the horizon in HSR now that I'm Equilibrium 2 and have ascension and talent mats locked behind...Trailblaze power? The resin of hsr. I am so glad now I am established enough in my account and have a few strong teams set up that the pressure is largely gone and I can focus on bringing anyone up one at a time, especially new characters.

    I think it’d be cool if they implemented a system where you could just reroll substats like they have on stigmatas in HI3. You would still have to farm for a base stat artifact, but then once you got one, you could then just work from there. And then have a rarer material or make it cost more to selectively hold certain substats on a reroll

    Even playing every day or close to, my ADHD puts me in the same boat unless I keep a spreadsheet nd reminders. You'd think the condition would help me hyperfocus on a character, but it actually makes me start building whatever is available and forgetting about my initial goals.

    I truly believe Genshin was not made with an incentive in mind to use tons of different units. Make 2 stable teams consisting of characters you like and work well together. That's it.

    I think weekly bosses mats shouldn’t be locked to being weekly and instead should be free for the first time of the week, and then cost 60 resin for every time after until it renews. Also, completing a regions archon quest should increase the resin cap by ten so new players cannot over grind and older players not being locked out as much by resin .

    As for artifacts, one idea I've seen thrown around is artifact pity. A kind of epitomized path where you can set a desired piece and mainstat before challenging a domain, and after a number of times you get the right piece but wrong mainstat, the mainstat you want becomes guaranteed. Plus, the ability to set desired substats in the artifact enhancement screen, and that also working similarly.

    @@riz324 Better than having to deal with only the rng of the artefact atm for the rng we have rng for : 1-The desired set. 2-The desired piece. 3-The desired main stat. 4-The desired substats. 5-Rolling into the desired substats. And the last one is the most painfull because you went from a good artefact that you had trouble to get lvl 0 to a trash artefact

    @@oturan9728 Artifact substat *potency* is randomized too. Every substat roll is 70, 80, 90 or 100% of the highest possible value it can be. The highest a single CRIT Rate roll can go on a 5-star artifact is 3.1% I believe and only has a 1/4 chance to occur. Including this layer of RNG raises the average "grind time" in real-world days for a "perfect" artifact to literally past the lifespan of any human being.

    for artifacts i think a sytem where if you max out an artifact you should an item that let pick which substat to roll into. Level up 5 artifacts and you pick and you can already make your dream peice if you have the right set and main stat. but doing it for a whole charactor would take a whild since 25 runs would be required to even get the peices., not even mention the fodder you would require to level up

    A bit late for the discussion, but what a game I really love (grand Chase) do is having a re-roll substats item tha costs real money but is also tied to some events. There could be something like that in genshin that you recive from abyss, the events and so on, where you can re-roll de main/chosen sub stats/upgradade sub stats, this way, it would be possible make it easier to get the god like artifacts.

    reducing one or two layers of RNG is one way to help mitigate this issue another one is as you said reduce the resin required to get artifacts or get more artifacts per resin used thus giving us more fodder alongside it to upgrade them i personally think that with the strongbox system there should be presets like what main stat do want and what piece do you want it on you can also put that preset on domains if you only want to farm one of the two sets and if you want to farm one or two pieces of said set there is an item in star rail that lets you create a 5 star artifact with the desired main stat maybe they could implement that aswell in the shop or battle pass or event rewards

    For me is simple increase the cap and shorten the time to get 1 resin like max 240-360 resin and get 1 resin after a minute or 30 second And just re work the artifacts stats gacha (remove flat attc,def,and hp) goblet will only get elemental,physical and EM main stats (and maybe healing main stat) while circlite get CR,CD and EM. And world bosses should be 20 resin not 40 (if it still cap at 160 ) this is just my opinion

    playing Brave Exvius, where every action cost energy, i like how gear is a foregone conclusion as long as you grind a set amount. That game also comes out with new gear fairly regularly but that just means that new patches usually means new gear and new content to keep you playing so win-win; also energy is far more attainable, through ad watching or refresh items that are far more easily accesible so when i really want to dig into something or fight some boss or challenge i can freely set my own. I have never been frustrated with energy in Brave Exvius ( accept very early in the games life). For Hoyo Games, i don't necessarily need that, although i don't see why energy regen items are SO sparse, but i would adore being able to farm gear forever though. whenever i get the itch to play your game i can just binge the grindy part or try to optimize a character i haven't built up yet and am interested in or something. Sometimes i just want to play a game i enjoy and that game should hamstring you when that is the case.

    I started this game around 80 days ago. Love it- Became my main game quickly. My literal only complaint (outside of early story quest pacing) is the Artifacts. I'm new and I already lost the excitement when getting an upgrade worthy drop. I followed the advice of the internet and saved all my fragile resin till AR 45 before spending ~80 of them artifact farming which netted me 1 great artifact and a couple decent ones. That's a month's worth of naturally occuring resin. Does not feel rewarding at all

    If they allowed us to either boost a certain type of artifact drop (sands, circlets, etc.) Or block one or two substats from leveling up it would make artifacts much less painful. And of course a resin cap increase would be great too

    Biggest problem imo is the daily nature of the game. A resin pool that is basically the resin earned from 21 hours of the game or something along those lines, and daily quests that wants you to enter the game daily. If you've completed everything, this game does not offer daily gameplay. As such, my suggestions for fixing it would be to have AR 55 (that's pretty much when a new player hits the endgame lull, in later versions this should increase to AR 60) change a few things around: have "dailies" become multi-day, and have the following arrangement: Monday-wednesday, thursday-saturday, and sunday accesses all of them. Same goes for battle pass. Similarly, the resin pool should expand to accompany this change. Instead of 160, have 500 resin as cap. This would make people be able to go in and truly play the game for a little while, then go do other stuff. This game does not have daily content, and as such, it should recognize it.

    If only someone from Hoyoverse watched this video and did something about it, but i guess that's not going to happen. I also think they could introduce a event for everyone once a patch or month where chances of getting particulars stat or sub stat increases. So if we get EM in that event we can farm for Gilded and Deepwood, if HP then Tenacity or the New artifact set in 3.6, etc.

    You've mentioned lower ressin for artifacts before And it's so true it's the only real difference maker in the game I've been farming the gilded dream domain since release and I barely have a set while other players have multiple 😢

    They could make Mondays (tuesdays and wednesdays too) half cost or even 5 resin less for talent materials. Monday through wednesday is when people typically do their weekly bosses so it would be trickier to manage resin

    Something I've thought about is to increase the amount of resin you have based on your adventure rank, similarly to how the teapot is, the higher your trust rank the more adeptal coins you can have, this or make the amount of time it takes for resin to replenish a shorter amount of time, if I'm not mistaken 1 resin takes 8 minutes so the full 160 resin we have now takes about 21 hours to fully replenish, which is just a ridiculous amount of time in my opinion, that way as you stated it doesn't have to take weeks or even months to build characters cause for someone who's AR60 it would just be more frustrating to enjoy a characters full potential when they could just keep enjoying their existing teams.

    I think there needs to be some form of pity/epitomized path for artifact main stats. Say if you don't get a main stat of the piece you want within 50-80 5* drops, you are guaranteed at least one. That still allows for substat progression, but at least you feel like there's a chance.

    One of the things I really really appreciate about your channel is how you look at game systems using internal logic and critical thinking. I.e. you don't just say monetized system is bad, you ask why is this system here and what could reasonably be changed to make it better, without calling in to question whether the system should it should not exist. Your channel is a great example of critical and analytical thinking and i appreciate you for that.

    I find myself very often getting bored of units before i fully build them. Just the process of getting them all 8/8/8 LV 90 and even sometimes the weapon lv 90 requires alot and when i get them to that point i have to either steal artis from a dropped units or farm new ones.

    In 24hrs one can only get 180 resin max. Correction for 10:35 error. Major rework is to reduce 2-3sec per ar level for resin refresh because after hitting ar55 we require 3 months/ 2 patches to hit ar60. Considering that increase in world level it disincentivse players as we barely get decent rewards for leveling ar world quests.

    I think resin for artefacts is overall fine because like you said it's pretty much the only reason to play the game at all past a certain point. If any improvement should be made, maybe reducing the resin cost, or improving the drop rates, or implementing some kind of pity system like on the weapon banner where you say "I want X stat on X artefact set's artefact type" and if you don't get it for a while you get some kind of stat replacement token where you can trade one stat of an artefact of this set/type with the stat you wanted. This way, like with weapons and characters, you can be guaranteed to get exactly the artefact build you want if you try long enough, even if it takes a lot of time/resin. Still requires grinding, but it's not 100% rng. Artefacts are the only luck-based system in this game that do not have some kind of pity/guaranteed-drop mechanic. My biggest issue personally is character upgrades, and weapons to an extent. Going from lv1 to lv90 takes a ridiculous amount of materials already, these materials cost double the resin compared to artefacts while being the bare minimum required to make a character playable, but on top of that they are locked behind specific bosses that may be story-locked. If you just start playing the game and roll an electro character you basically cannot use it until you unlock inazuma, which forces you to either not use the character you spent primo for, or rush through the story for it instead of playing at your own pace, which ironically has the opposite effect of adding speed limiters: someone who could have spent weeks just exploring the first two regions will end up speedrunning them because they want to use that character and they'll reach the end-game way faster. And that's not even talking about talents. It can take weeks to level up a single character to a playable level, and that's if you spend all your resin on it which means sacrificing progression elsewhere. Just to be able to use it. Character upgrade materials should not cost resin, or it should cost way less. 40 for a regular boss is too high, only 4-5 a day when you'll likely need 5x that to fully level it up, then dozens and dozens of runs in one single domain (which arent even open every day) to level up the talents, also while farming overworld resources that are also finite and respawn every 1 or 2 days only. Just to be able to use it in your current team.

    idk i feel like for just the bosses that drop materials for ascension, give them like a 24 to 48 hour respawn time, make them free to fight and gain the rewards (maybe remove the adventure xp or lower it) and then give the option to respawn the boss with resin, so u can fight every boss once every day, which gives a nice optional daily thing to do but still make them farmable

    So, I've had an idea for a while about how to overhaul the Artifact system, which would I think solve the Resin System by proxy even if they don't change resin. I think it'd also help with player burnout too. And that would be to change the Artifact System from a treadmill to a race. From my own experience working on gearing up characters it takes around 4000 Resin or 20 days worth of dedicated play to get a "high end" artifact set on average. It could be as low as 1000 or as high as 8000 (looking at you Nahida). With that in mind, I think you could solve this by introducing a machine that can be used to level up artifacts. Instead of having a chance to get double or quintuple exp you'd have the ability to feed other artifacts of the same rank into the machine to ensure a specific substat increases. Based on the resins costs, I'd say taking a 5 Star Artifact through all 5 substat upgrades should take 15 other 5 Star Artifacts or 3 per upgrade. I imagine it as being something like a machine you slot the artifact to upgrade into while you toss other artifacts or exp materials into a furnace until it reaches the exp required to make it to the next substat upgrade level. And then you could slot in an artifact of the same level to "seal off" a substat which would remove the possibility of it being upgraded. You could even make this machine something you build in the Tea Pot so it'd encourage interaction with that system. But I think making this small change would clear up a lot of the issues people have with the resin system. For the most part, people don't complain about the amount of resin needed for ascension or skills because there is a finish-line they can see themselves making concrete progress towards. With artifacts you are running with no end in sight until you suddenly get stopped because you passed the goal. Just putting that goal in sight would clear that up.

    I would like to have that minimum improvement for every artifact dominion run Also i think weekly bosses should be free, keep the once a week limitation, but make it resin free that's 390 extra resin per week Lastly 1200 resin cap, that still recharge by 200 daily, but now it requires a weekly login instead of a daily one

    I have so many characters that i would love to use or try out but the time investment required leaves me just looking up if they can work well with a team i already have built. Since most of the time the answer is no, they just sit around at level 20 because why would i spend a month building a character when to feasibly use them i need to spend months building other characters to use them with

    What hurts is the waiting. This is my first gacha game, and I'm a GAMER. I'm not used to logging in a game being limited on time and then having to log out because I can't progress any further. I am used to logging in and playing for fun until I'm fulfilled, Genshin always leaves me filling unfulfilled. The resin limit should be raised or the accumulation should be faster. We should be awarded some for commission and why is there a weekly boss cap? I understand the "If you give access they will lose interest" but that is not the case with me. Im VERY invested in this game and would be even more if there were a resin system rework/buff. I also think the battle pass is too short. Other games I play have levels up to 200, we have what.. 22 days left and I already finished mine....ty 4 the video!

    When I think about it, genshin has quite the suffocating problem for their players that they seem confused on how to rework or fix when its not actually as daunting as it seems. When it comes to resin based activities I think its really up to what it gives the player in terms of the overarching game- like how its been stated that if you had no idea about a character/ did not prepare for them it can and has taken months for others to build. it would be cool to see, say, the abyss give more rewards like transient or fragile resin for completing the higher floors as a push to get invested in other characters. There are other more obvious things like halving or taking away resin requirements from artifact domains and world bosses due to how often they release as well as having some in game schedule to work off insted of relying on memory or looking up whats open that day of the week. I do hope they improve the systems overall as we progress because if they dont they'd be shooting themselves in the foot by inadvertently making it so players cant built characters without sacrificing something, be it old or new

    I think a higher refresh rate and higer cap to the resin system like star rail is the bare minimum upgrade and then y will buff 5 star artifact to 2 per 20 resin and 3 base boss material will be great

    Wish genshin would add auto dungeon/bosses farm where you can leave characters in a dungeon like for 18/24 hours like expedition sometimes spending resins can be so tasking.

    I mostly just use resin for weekly domains. They’re adding more artifacts to the strong box so thats a workaround. And i have so many unused resin from the battle pass..

    Yeah, another thing is that most gacha games have various forms of energy currency for different forms of progression materials, item or activities. In Genshin literally every activity barring Events all fall under the one and only one Energy Currency. Which makes the experience more of an annoyance. Stuff like Ley-Lines shouldn't use resin, but instead a cap in how much you can do a day. And if they wanted to give players the option to spend premos for more runs. Then you can cap how much extra runs they could attempt pass the initial set limit. The world bosses just should be accessible period. You can only Farm them once a week. Makes no sense to waste resin doing it. The on field bosses could still take resin, but the amount should be lowered or maybe not. What they should do are add different version of the bosses on separate days. It will be the same old boss. What I mean is, on certain days of the week, the drop rate for gems are higher than that of materials and vis versa. The Skill books should have their own separate from of Energy other than resin. Leaving Artifact and bosses that use it. But with the amount of RNG in artifact grinding, it should cost less resin that bosses. One last thing they could try is. Give players more options to play Co-op. By creating various dungeons where you and a team can progress to the end in. Feels bad all are restrict to single player. What's the point to build these characters. When all you do with them is Farm artifacts to make them better. The Abyss is literally Tower mode. It's great but....come on. Lol

    While my preferred gaming experience I doing dailies on two or three games and then having something like an open world rpg or a rouge like to grind for the rest of time and genshin fits this preference quite well I’d say bosses should be twenty resin and weekly ones should be forty, maybe increase the cap as well to 200, I think overall it’s as simply as making things more generous, also I think there should be a way to prioritize stats on artifacts, I got very very lucky with Alhaitham that his set is as good as it is this fast (and I already had mistsplitter)
