Everything Wrong With Flatliners (1990) In 10 Minutes Or Less
Фильм және анимация
With the new Flatliners remake coming up, we went looking for sins in the original. And... it does not hold up very well. Sorry (but not really sorry).
REMINDER: September, as is our tradition, is a 50% vacation. We'll have one video per week, then back to 2/week in October starting NEXT WEEK!
Next week: Sci-fi sins and horror sequel sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

Hollywood's been running on empty for 20-some years now. Even the "original" movies they come out with once in a while are based on some obscure book, short story or comic book now.
@SunnysFilms

Book-to-Movie adaptations are fine IMO, as are comic movies. The real problem in Hollywood is plots constantly being recycled. Of course no movie could be good AND 100% original, but it's gotten to the point where most films are Good vs. Bad with X and Y tropey dramas thrown in. Love problems, evil antagonist, dream-crushing life event, etc. Even then they are still perfectly workable plot points if they just write them in well, but so often they feel shoehorned in to manufacture something that pushes the movie along

That has nothing to do with "Hollywood" buddy. As I pointed out to someone else, here - feel free to take a look at the most successful movies of 2017 (or '16 or 15 and so on): www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?view2=worldwide&yr=2017&p=.htm It's not "Hollywood", mate. It's people givin hundreds of millions of dollars to this kind of movies. It's full of absolutely original movies out there, except no one watches them.

Many believe hell is a making of our own design. All the past wrongs and guilt our psychi's create are carried with us forever in the afterlife. And let this blow your mind. Before our bodies turn cold, just like a filament from a light bulb, our minds are still aglow for a few seconds even after death. In those milliseconds our minds could be alive for what seems to be an eternity. Maybe that is when we experience heaven or hell. 🤔🤔

I watched this movie on the Syfy channel a month ago in the hospital (at the same date this was published) and saw the remake as a result. This channel hardly ever puts up older movies anymore, which is a good thing, but decides to put this one up. Then, last night I dreamt I was back in the hospital. This morning out of nowhere I decided to look up cinemasins vids after months without and this movie is here. This is a very auspicious sign.

I actually liked this movie a lot, even though I do find it super cheesy. It helps that I already have a fear/fascination with the afterlife, and I did cry when the girl forgave her father. And despite the mood lighting/settings which make no sense, it has a really good atmosphere, something i can't say for too many other movies.

I see... so that's how Jack Bauer got so powerful.
How about instead of adding extra sins for statues in the middle, you could do a bonus round at the end giving +1 for every statue?

You forgot a huge sin, in the begging the class happens in a museum, look that room, it's not a medical school room. And the dead body are covered like statues, not like a dead body. Joel Schumacher has thing for statues. You can also see that in Batman and Robin and Phantom of the opera.

Fun facts. The opening statues they showed is from my neighborhood, it's a monument in the park on the South Side of Chicago in Washington Park. We used to play on it all the time. It was also featured in the movie "The Package" starring Gene Hackman. When they were filming "The Package" they used my school which is across the street from the park to store their things. Also, for this movie, the "medical facility" is actually the Museum of Science and Industry and is just east of the monument. I love seeing my neighborhood landmarks. This is all in the back yard of The University of Chicago, which is east on the monument, on the way to the museum.

Mmm…the book was better, and the movie was…well, it's not really a classic, or a source of a remake, is it? Or am I wrong about that? Either way, it detracts too far from the short story it was based on. FYI, the story in question was simply called "The Body". The movie was actually pretty close in a lot of ways, but it changed some of the most vital things about the story.

Bradley Coates I think that a lot of people forget that a lot of remakes are really good, some consider them classics, like Scarface, Benhur, good god Phantom of the Opera was remade dozens of times. and if you really wanna split hairs, Halloween (2007) and The Dark Knight. My point is there are a lot of good remakes, there are just a lot of really bad remakes in recent years that people forget the really good ones.
I almost forgot about the original. I used to watch it as a kid throughout the 90s. I'm remembering how much I didn't understand this movie.
