In this video we go over an average day on the Camino, and summarize everything we've learned about the Camino de Santiago... so far. We're definitely no experts here - some of our commenters have walked the Camino seemingly dozens of times, but I do think we've figured out a bit of the rhythm of the thing.

    I respect the people who take the extra initiative to record these things. I often found it bothersome to even take photos when I am on a hike. You two did a great job documenting the journey. Enjoyed the commentary, the b-rolls, the music. It was a good watch, with some nice insight into the camino. Maybe one day I'd get to do it too

    You describe the day perfectly...the feeling good to the feeling GAH...and the BEER at the end of the day! Yes! What you forget when you're gone from the Camino is the exhaustion points in your day...those times midway when you JUST WANT TO GET TO THE END...all that goes away until you watch a video and you're reminded of it by other peregrinos. It's real...those couple of hours in the middle where you almost give up because you just want to sit. That beer, though...

    THIS EXACTLY. You get it. It's such an up-and-down experience, every single day. The beer is the thing that keeps you going until you reach the end.

    Thats why I am doing the Camino last 100km in October. It would be hell for me in Summer😂 I plan ten days for it. Walking four days in row 14km. It will be a lot for me. You should als know alcohol usually slows down and does hell to the body after such walk in my opinion. Good think I cant drink it due to medications anyway. You should try the camino without alcohol would be much easier.

    Thanks Lisa and Josh, never done the Camino but am thinking about it at least. I've waited 80 years to get started. Do you think I've waited too long? I'm wondering if it's possible to do the Camino on shorter stretches? Like a shorter overall distance, say a couple hundred km and maybe in shorter bites like 15k per day and still find accommodation and food? Anyway, good luck to you. Really nice production values, humor and a good look at the Camino for couples.

  • @LisaAndJosh

    @LisaAndJosh

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Terry! thank you for watching our videos! We don't think you've waited too long at all!! :) Our biggest life lesson on the Camion was that there are so many ways to do it--it's truly the best part. Some friends walked for the weekend only, some walked for 7-10 days, some rode bikes, others took busses along the way. We look back and actually wish we had taken each day in shorter increments and stayed in the towns longer. Especially in the later towns closer to Santiago, there were towns and cafes in every 3-5k. we hope that helps and hope you are able to experience some of the Camino :)

    Hi Teresa! Each had their own strengths, so we actually used both :) you can find the video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p41sxKdmgburlMY.html we liked the camino ninja for route planning, up to date accommodations and booking and the buen camino app for overall information about the towns, history, etc.

    Is there any restrictions because of covid? Can I walk Santiago and check in cheap pilgrim hotels without having a euro vaccination certificate?

  • @LisaAndJosh

    @LisaAndJosh

    2 жыл бұрын

    We were able to walk the camino in August 2021 and stay in albergues and we wore our masks indoors. Our vaccine certificates were sometimes checked, but we'd recommend checking for updated rules and restrictions regarding the vaccine certificate, as they may have changed since we were last there.

    people walk for many reasons! this is a historic and religious pilgrimage from all parts of Europe ending in Santiago, Spain. many people now walk for many different reasons--to travel, to enjoy different villages and nature, to see different parts of the country, to have some quiet and reflection time, to connect more with God, to connect with others. we met many people along the way who were walking for so many reasons.
