Tomisin i had a 35 act and a 4.2 and im in a bunch of stem clubs- a lot of people were way more accomplished than me tho so it couldve been my interview and essays

oh wow that's great! Congratulations! I thankfully went to a HS that offered specific scholarships just for our area, however I know there's so many big companies that do scholarships to pay for all 4 years. I believe Coke has one, Pepsi, and I think theres a bill gates one too. Definitely just look them up!

I hope to get into Howard next year as a bio major I have a few questions! 1) I did a lot of dual enrollment so would I need to apply as a transfer or first time? 2) I'm really torn between Quad or CHN which would you recommend for first time students? 3) Would you recommend dating at Howard or outside of Howard? What is the party scene like? 4) Do you think Howard cares more about academics or you as a person? Also your super pretty & thank you so much for the info!

thanks for this sweet comment!! Best of luck next year! 1. You apply as a first year. Your credits will transfer over and if you have enough to be a sophomore, your classification will reflect that, after you get i. 2. I lived in CHN & loved it. It's really all about what you value in a dorm. If you want your own bathroom, CHN. If you want the historic value & sisterhood, go to the Quad. 3. Honestly I wouldn't recommend dating at all freshman year. There's way too much to focus on other than getting a s/o. If you really want to date, both are fine. I know a lot of people just use tinder to meet people in the area. Parties are fun, theres really something going on all the time, you'll never be bored. (ofc would be diff with covid) 4. College is super different than high school, there's really no one there that is going to check on you and make sure you're okay. If you're really struggling & need help, there are resources however, you'd have to reach out yourself, its not something that Howard will seek out.

Thanks for the info! We definitely need a part 3! I just have one question. I got accepted to Howard with a scholarship. I’m so happy and grateful but I can’t find info on how to maintain my scholarship. As you said they might take away my scholarship and I can’t continue after that. Do you know the gpa i need to maintain or what can cause them to take away my scholarship?

Congratulations! Have you committed yet? Howard will send you all the information when the time comes, you will have to sign a contract and everything! I wouldn’t worry about that until you’re actually taking classes and signed your contract :)

Actually I didn't mention this but you can request which dorm you want to be in. It's not guaranteed you'll get that dorm but at least there's some opportunity to pick!

What scholarships did you apply for? In the video you mentioned that you still had a bit of money left over.

I applied to scholarships through my high school / ones that were specific for my town. I applied to almost every single one of them so I ended up winning a lot.

i got in on early decision, the cost is the only thing stopping me from committing :( hopefully by May I'll make a decision lol

@@haleydavidson7693 i ended up going to another school that gave me a full ride, ultimately the debt wasn’t worth it for me, im attending a really good pwi, howard is a great school i just couldn’t justify the debt

@@haleydavidson7693 hey! i’d definitely apply early action or early decision because they accept a great number of students in those pools. i didn’t take any standardized tests bc of covid, but my gpa was a 3.8 unweighted and a 4.3??? weighted i think, i was on the debate team, student government and a couple other clubs, your essay is what makes or breaks your application tho, i’d focus heavily on writing a strong essay. i wouldn’t be scared about those stats, my friends who got in as well had lower than a 3.7, you should be totally fine

Hi sorry I know I’m late😭😭but i literally just applied to Howard and I’m stressing 😭😭I applied to COAS as a major for criminology. I wrote my personal essay about me making a dumb decision which was breaking my leg which expressed the funny crazy person I am😭but I only have one foreign language 😭😭I do have extracurricular activities such as National Honors society and Youth counselor for NACCP.

yes they offer early childhood education. If you just look up the program + howard university, information on the program will come up.

@@prettygirl-nk2pc you can just look up scholarships on google. Theres a scholarship for literally everything! You just have to be willing to do the research & take the time to apply.

So I'm graduating in April with my bachelors in film and was thinking about applying to grad school at Howard. Do you know anything about the graduate program? I honestly don't know what I am doing after I graduate and I'm graduating a year earlier than I'm supposed to since I had so many credits coming in. I've been looking for jobs, but I live in Texas and kind of just want to leave lol

Basically just scholarships that don’t come from Howard. I was able to apply to them through my high school but I know there’s many resources on google / social media promoting scholarships.

Organizations in my hometown offered a lot of scholarships for graduating seniors - like community service-based ones, academic ones, HBCU specific ones. You should look online for scholarships though because there are so many out there waiting to be given!! Just type in your graduation year + scholarship.

Does Howard offer Metro cards for students?

technically anyone can bring a car! There's a raffle you can go in to get a parking spot, but its very limited. If you don't get an "official" spot theres streets you can park on but we are in the middle of the city so it's not always guaranteed. Honestly you really don't need one but if you really want to, it's not impossible.
