My Lightweight backpacking kit for the Skye Trail in Scotland
Ойын-сауық
This was everything I needed for a backpacking trip to Scotland on the Isle of Skye. It may not be ULTRAlight but it was lightweight enough for me and more importantly it was comfortable to carry. The first video in the Skye Trail series will be out soon so if you'd like to be notified when it drops feel free to subscribe and click the bell icon below. Also I forgot to mention the backpack itself which is the Osprey Exos

Nice one hazey! Looking forward to the series, I'd love to see you head to America and do some of the trails out there!
Happy to see any content you offer. I’m getting ready for the hikes. You get these old legs hiking again … vicariously. You give so much💕
Great video Hazy!
Good video hazey and really good kit look forward to the video in my neck of the woods ,glad you enjoyed take care buddy and have a great day ❤️👍⛺️⛺️🔥🔥🙏👌👍

New Haze video whilst I cook dinner. Hooray!
Nice load out mate , definitely a trekking pole tent is the way forward, see ya on the next one ☝️
yeah! well done you matey
Happy to hear about your love for the Lambshank - seeing as I have bought one (also khaki) as my first trekking/hiking tent. Very much looking forward to the VLOG of the journey.

Hi Haze, I loved your Cape Wrath series, it was amazing and a big inspiration for me to do at least a part of it next year … and I look forward to the Skye trail series a lot! Great to hear that you enjoyed it after all the piss situation 😅😅😅 Thank you for the videos and also the useful gear tips, which I appreciated on my recent West Higland way trip 😊
Great video buddy
I've got my backpack down to 14kg all in (4 days of food and 2l water incl). I'm in my tent as I type. I know that if I were to forego my luxury items and become ever so minimalist the load I bear could be reduced significantly. But, I love a bit of luxury. So, instead, I just do fewer miles and take more time. 😊
Hubby (Hunt on the Trails) and I finished our Skye Trail adventure (complete with extraordinarily similar kit) on Thursday. Great trail but not to be underestimated (especially at our age 😂). We very much look forward to comparing notes!
Ace watch dude great kit
Loving your channel.👍
Nice kit, and very light. At 5:57 you have a bottle of Smidge, bug repellent........ I think it works against horse flies, and other annoying insects, while you are filming. Thank's for the upload.
Always wanted to see a Scotland hike mate! Can't wait until it's up. Hope you enjoyed our views ❤ we apologise for the midges 😂

Just done Skye trail a week ago, one of the best trails if not the best in terms of views and difficulty. Wish I had more than 5 days for it though.
The Olympus 5 are still zero drop. They have a stack height of 33mm. The Lone Peaks are 25mm.
'Ey up mate. I've done this trail too. It's fucking amazing, looking forward to your video series on it! We stopped in Talisker for a day to enjoy some much needed Whisky too!
8:00 looking forward to the plastic bags on the feet episode 😅
GOOD JOB! I think the jacket is a bit more mountain equipment than mountain warehouse?
Looking trim lad
Hola, great video again. What were those aclima pj's you had? I've had a look on the list of clothes but can't see them there and I always wonder what's best for sleeping in. Cheers buddy :-)
Wow!! great video as usual mate, is that 8kg without your food and water then? i always seem to be lugging around 18kg including food and water! I could shed maybe 3kg taking out my luxuries, but i could never get anywhere near 10 let alone 8. you're like Yoda mate!!!
great little video, thanks! But where is the t shirt you're wearing from please?
Nice loadout. WHat happend with your Ron Hill shakedry, is the Goretex better?
You got a new osprey exos .? 48 or 58 ltr ?
Fairly certain I was sat opposite you at my local in York last Sunday, was going to say hi however I didn't want to fan boy out in front of the Mrs 🙃.
Hazy I'm late to the party on this post.. but can u run thru ur current camera tripod and drone spec at some point ? Great load-out vid as always thank you
You mentioned merino wool socks and darn tough socks, were they all darn tough mate. If so what's the verdict 👍

@@HazeOutdoors I just came off the trail young gun. 50 days, was a blast. Only saw six snakes, (only four were venomous). You could bring Joey D to deal with the friendly critters! Thanks for your great channel, very informative, certainly helped in my gear selection. Cool content lad.
I cheered/waved/fist-pumped when we got to the bread bags! I thought you maybe had done away with those after we saw the coop bag. I have a few empty bread bags in my general doom piles, but I might not need them because I got some money for boots and a coat: I ended up buying boots, not managed to sort out a new coat yet . How long did it take you to buy all that kit!? It must be quite expensive. I should have pulled my finger out and entered the raffle.

Thoughts on the osprey 58 rather than 48? Most videos make it seem like the 48 is the better option.
Video idea: COW TIPS I could have been trampled by a herd of cows after they ran at me. A HAZE COW TIPS video could save someone's life: I was walking on a public footpath recently and my way was blocked by a herd of cows at a gate. I could find no way around due to thick hedges. After a while, although very unsure and with low confidence, I bravely climbed the gate and carefully shooed the cows out the way which worked. Once clear of the cows I thought how clever it would be to run down the field away from the cows. How wrong I was. The whole herd turned and ran after me. I sprinted over the uneven hoof churned ground. I could easily have fallen and then been trampled. I was surprised how fast they ran and that they ran all the way down the field (downhill) to my exit. I leapt over the style at the other end. Afterwards I realised I had hurt my foot on the uneven ground. Later KZread research told me you should never run from cows because they will run after you. I never knew that! Based on my experience it felt like they were trying to run me out of the field and would have run over me if I had fallen. My injured foot could have been a twisted ankle on the uneven ground and I consider myself lucky to have got out without being trampled.

Cows are very curious and VERY fast runners as you've discovered. In my youth, I did a lot of roadwork along miles of country lanes. The cows used to run along beside me, hundreds of them, I'm glad there were stone walls between us.

Haze. I miss it ... When is the first episode of the Sky-Trail coming. I aways miss stuff. I'm always out hiking in the mountains even more now because a lost me job... I'm always behind on everyone's videos because I'm always out in the mountains doing long hikes and adventures.
😊
which mountain equipment jacket were you wearing in the skye video dude
A Ronhill and Mountain Warehouse collaboration? How much boiled water do you require before you can eat the jacket?

Do mohr barefoot challengers!
I accidentally baught a 33ltr osprey instead of 40LTR... was worried about what I could fit in it... my worries were unfounded as I got all my kit in it and it wasn't even all my lightweight kit.. didn't take all my recording equipment though so will have to do some rejigging . Take care out there.

I use an ageing Talon 33 for multi-day hikes - just done the final 6 days of a long-term LE to JoG effort. Size wise it is OK. The only problem is the the straps dig in to your shoulders as it's not designed for the weight. So I am looking for something slightly bigger for more comfort - without breaking the bank!

Skye is bad for midgies. buy yourself a midge (not mosquito) hood, or better still a midge suit. they arent too bad yet but they get worse as the summer goes on and repellents do next to nothing against them
