I miss the Uniqlo and H&M that used to be there. Miss those days. Before 2020 happened

Is it also due to online shopping? I know lots of businesses where I live in Canada are also closed or suffering.

Its Rent, Crime, Looting, Drugs, Taxes, so pretty much all of above! Thank the Democrat leadership for being soft on crime and at the same time raising taxes to a point that people cant afford to be there too, while having to deal with the soft on crime consequences.

In truth, its the illegal migrants they refuse to prosecute, homeless, drugs, high crime, etc. They always blame it on "oh muh online shopping is why" no, its the crime brought by migrants and certain minoritys.

Thank you for your support! Businesses are leaving for many reasons. High Crime, high taxes, high cost of living. Homelessness and drugs. It just doesn't make sense for people to invest here anymore

You make an interesting point here. It can be true that healthcare is better than some states but I recently spoke with a gentleman that moved to Utah and he says he gets faster healthcare there then he ever did in California. Secondly, our taxes are extremely high, and a portion of that tax goes to supporting our healthcare. Also I heard California is trying to pass a policy that will give healthcare (possibly free) to ILLEGAL ALIENS. Unbelievable!

@@freefromcalifornia I agree, if you're not from California you shouldn't get any healthcare and should be deported from the State immediately. Especially if you want to bash the fact that we have a system that gives free healthcare if you can't afford it. The people who voted blue decided to use THEIR taxes to help the less fortunate not the hypocrites that say illegals are getting free healthcare while traveling to California to get free healthcare for themselves. I've talked to people that said they're just here to get their dental done and then going back to their own state because they are conservative, they voted red yet over here begging for a handout.

I would say you are way wrong on this one, San Antonio, is 50/50 blue red and WAY cleaner and nicer than San Francisco now, along with some really cool places like Galveston which was once known as the Wallstreet of the USA, so they have really nice style buildings from that time still. However, I still mourn for San Francisco, half my family lived in California for decades, it was literally the best state in the USA until the last 20 years or so, which pushed my family out to Texas. San Fransisco was a dream come true when I was a kid! See so much history, how rich and vibrant everything was, it was almost a utopia back then, but now, it really isnt, its fallen from is highs. Overall though, in all honesty, I dont care about team cheering, I just wish and hope for San Francisco and many other cities to recover!! I want them to become rich and vibrant again, a place that anyone can go and just be jaw dropped seeing!! So for now, yes, stop voting for these groups that are soft on crime or rather use the tax money on people that aren't even citizens or residents, we need order and law back.

A lot of the businesses cancel the utilities until a new tenant moves in. If there is still lights on, most likely the owners of the building still pays for utilities. Not only that but mortgage payments and property taxed still.
