I don't have a bike yet, but since I've started doing research about them my driving style has changed without me even realizing it until recently. I began to notice when I would ride in a car with another driver their driving style would bug me. I would think "they're too close to the car ahead of them", "they've been in that blind spot too long", "they should have known that person was coming over", "Why aren't they aware of the traffic around them". A few weeks ago I started to put my driving to the test. I found out I always had at least a 2 second following distance, I was looking way far ahead of me at traffic, I would check my mirrors every few seconds, never be in blind spots longer than I need to, I always knew where all the traffic around me was, and I drive very defensively (as if no one sees me in my car). Even though I don't ride yet, just being educated on the topic has made me start to develop the "motorcyclist brain" and I've become a better and safer driver because of it

I tent to drive fairly defensively even though i drive a pickup, but thats cus there are too many who cant drive here. So i dont trust any random driver! So when i get my MC license in a few weeks i already should have the basics down of "drive as if no one can see you", just gotta develop it further.

Another tip to tell new riders might be to RIDE YOUR MOTORCYCLE. I'm a new rider and I was hesitant to ride to work during certain parts of the day because the traffic was bad. I left my bike for about 5 days and the battery went dead. One of my biker buddies then told me about how you need to maintain your battery charge if you are not riding.

  • @votpavel

    @votpavel

    5 жыл бұрын

remember you dont want to trickle charge sertain types of batteries and the ones you do you have to keep an eye on them and charge in a safe enviroment due to fumes from battery. Once a week riding is fine but if dont ride for more than a week then at least start it every couple of weeks to let the oil run through the whole system, unplug the battery for winter season so that way its in the house and cold doesnt destroy it fast. Also every couple of weeks just go and move the bike a foot or two so the tires dont get pressure on one same spot and develop problems

One of my favorite channels. I can’t ride now because I had to give up my bike because my mom’s house needed major repairs. Even though I don’t have a motorcycle I still value Dan’s safe riding advice and enjoy watching his KZread channel. My mom just passed and I find myself wishing a lot I could get out and ride because it has always been and escape for when stressed but especially now because I could use and escape from my heart being shattered after my mom passed. Sorry for the personal rant. Back on track I highly recommend Dan’s channel for riding safety. 👍👍

Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

Great bit about the pre ride inspection! I recently took off from where I work and my rear tire was flat. I didn't notice it until about 200ft because it still had a little air. This event happened to me and my dad within a few years of each other and can easily result in spilling your bike so definitely do a quick pre ride inspection and ride safe 👍

If a ball rolls out in front of you on a neighborhood street, there's often a kid right behind it. If you see 1 deer near the road, there are more following. If you see your shadow on the road in front of you, drivers looking at you from the front of you have the sun in their eyes.

Proudly saying that this is my very first comment on a KZread vid ever, even tho I’ve been watching TONS of different YT vids for years. Keep them good Vids coming man Been thinking about getting into motorcycling for the last 3+ years and been increasing my knowledge from nothing to lots of info as of this moment and I’m getting so close to doing it hopefully this summer. Got my eyes and heart set on the Ninja 400, even tho i’m little worried about riding it to and from work 30 miles on hwy and if I should get a 650 instead but the weight is what I like about the 400, still not very sure about what gear I should go with. Hey once again Dan man thanks a bunch for all the good stuff you help us all with ✌🏻Peace ❤️ Love and 👍🏻 respect brother 😉

if you can pick 1 day of the weeks, its sunday from like 10 am,thats when everyone is in church, and sunday is generally the most relaxed day for car drivers when alot of them arent exhausted from work and they take it slower on that day.If you gotta ride any time just stay away from cars in general, distance from the one in front, constantly check mirrors on whats in the back and try to never ride with cars on the side of you.If someone pushing from behind on a single road just ride to the 3rd lane position(the very right of the road)and they usually will pass.dont road rage its pointless

Yo whenever people say "look where you want to go", "look through the turn", I keep thinking isn't this the same for snowboarding? Or skating? Or like any other sport? I guess not everyone grew up with extreme sports 😅

turning on low speeds can be tricky, like around a gas station or doing a uturn,i can do left turns much easier, its harder on larger heavier bikes but you cant learn until you try, good luck

2:18 - Well. I point my chin or my nose to the direction - not really use my eyes to fix my direction I wanna go. I also imagine to draw a line which I will drive along and I'll try to check this line for any road hazards. And if there is something - I should avoid that - if it is possible. Literally I drive where my nose is pointed to :) Greetings from Austria, buddy. Ride safe.

carry a waterbladder in a backpack, drink once an hour or something like that,i wouldnt take off any gear because its hot and just get used to it,my jacket has winter lining in it that i unzipp for summer, the worst time is when you not moving/standing on a long light or in traffic,no breeze plus heat coming from ahot motorcycle can be wild. You can pour water on your head and tshirt under the jacket and it will give you a cool feeling for a few minutes. Seriously,a water bladder is a must on 80-90+ degree days

I have been riding for three weeks. Some people just don't have it. Riding a bicycle hard, isn't much different. I met a guy riding for three years and didn't know how to shift without the clutch. Had no idea what counter steering was....that's scary.

This is more a general question, but I am an aspiring rider. I'm 37 years old. Have a semi bad lower back. Never rode a motorcycle, but I have sat on a few. What would be the a good style of bike to pursue generally for my disposition? I know this is probably a similar question that you get all the time. However I'm not a frequent visitor to comments. Apologies. Also I know this is an older video. But love the content and had the question pop into my head.

Why do you recommend refering to the tire pressure by the vin and not on the tire? If you go and get different tires that are rated differently wouldnt using the bikes tire pressure cause uneven wearing you mentioned?

Hey @Dandanthefireman Im looking to buy a motorcycle Im sort of a beginner but not really Let me explain Ive driven manual transmission vehicles all my life. I learned to drive on a 1961 international pickup 3 on the tree. Every vehicle I have owned in 25 years have been manual transmission. So I know how to use the clutch. Ive ridden ATV's that are semi automatic and I have ridden a few motorcycles. A rebel 250 and a Honda cb360 many years ago both manual. I also have good common sense knowledge of most things I can and can not do on a motorcycle. Most of your videos and other instructor videos I watch like MCrider. To me its like well thats common sense. For example The video on going from pavement to gravel you have to slow way down before entering the gravel. Not saying I dont learn anything from the videos. Most of it seems to me as common sense. Being alert and looking way ahead. I do that now in my vehicles. What Im getting at is Im looking at a Harley Sportster 1200. But then I see MCrider say get a Rebel 500. Im pretty sure your first motorcycle was a Harley 1200. With your experience starting on the 1200. Whats your opinion on which bike I should purchase. Im still looking into a MSF course for begginers also.

Why follow the t.p on the bike stkr and not on the side wall. Would the tire manafacture know how much there tires willl hold? Because tire compounds change over the yrs so what was good in 99 [date of my Magna] may not be true in 2020? Or am I wrong in that area? I have always used the sidewalk air setting minus 5lbs for air expansion. Thank you for that great videos and your time. Oh btw could you please explain how to decider the date codes on the tires? Thank you
