    I’ve been using the Rode Videomic NTG with the Rode Wireless Go II for a year now. This seems like it has the same features of the Videomic NTG, but works as a transmitter for the wireless receiver. Glad to see companies have realized that was a great feature combination and built a microphone that comes like that stock.

    Thanks for the great review. In terms of sound quality, your MKH 50 sounds the best by far. Then the DJI because it sounds more airy and less congested. The Comica seems to sound most congested of the bunch though I do appreciate the great flexibility of the wireless.

    priced right, and the dual sync be great for interviews or A/B shooters covering same scene. not a huge deal to sync in post, but this is a clever feature that is certainly attractive. also, doesn't have a cheap sound to, really not bad and has a nice richness.

    The fact that you can feed two different cams at once (and avoid syncing in post) is a real plus. No other reviewer I've watched pointed this out, so its a plus for you as well! But a real negative is that it doesn't have onboard recording. Another reviewer noticed the wireless on this mic can sometimes drop out - even at close range. Perhaps it was only his sample, but it makes me pause. After all, there is a reason this mic doesn't cost a lot.

    Mine has had no drop outs, but I agree that is a concern. I have a suspicion that all these new mics are using the same, or one of a limit number of wireless chip sets, so I expect the reliability to be similar to other systems.

I asked about it and they sent another free mic that did the same thing. I've been thinking the same thing while watching these reviews. I've actually used my DJI mics to create a wireless sound system with my Deity on-camera mic and my Tascam X8. I had the Deity set up as a back up mic that I plugged into my DJI transmitter. The other transmitter was plugged into the audio out of my Tascam X8 which was plugged into the in-house mic system. I had the receiver plugged into my cam so I didn't have to sync audio in post. I had the house sound on one channel and the back up audio from the Deity on another.

    Im not an audio expert and i wanna ask how to get rid the hiss effect in 11:31 ? And why it does sounds louder when you put down the microphone further?

  • @markwiemels

    @markwiemels

    10 ай бұрын

    This is because I had to boost the audio in editing, what you are hearing is the noise floor in the pre-amps in the camera. You can avoid this by having the gain on the mic higher and set the camera amps lower. If I had set the gain higher, to account for the mic being further away, there wouldn't be a hiss. So the hiss is the camera, not the mic, but the mic can fix the issue with the gain knob.

    Audio post engineer here. Interference tubes aren’t great indoors because of the reflections are just the same voice which creates weird comb filtering. A lot of times film/tv will use mics more similar to small diaphragm condensers inside.

  • @markwiemels

The 600 is a studio or boom mic that can also be used on a camera, but if you are mainly using it on camera, or for run and gun with wireless function, I would go with this one. The 600 is a better mic, purely as a mic, but this one has a lot more versatility and is still very good.

    I still like the Sennheiser mic slightly better 🤣👍but I'm still using the Rode Videomicro V1 for being the mic with the highest SPL rating in the market. I didn't check the SPL rating of this mic yet. When you do a lot of outdoor videos, and that motorcycle zips by with a machine gun muffler next to you and ruin your otherwise perfect audio. There are so many scenarios a high SPL rating saved my audio rear end. My to go rig right now (which I'm waiting to slightly upgrade) is the combination of the Rode Videomicro V1 on the right channel + the wireless Hollyland LARK 150 + lav mic on the left channel connected on the Smallrig channel splitter. That gives me audio redundancy, plus I have the freedom to walk and talk and not being diredcly tethered to the camera while getting the best possible audio. I'm still waiting for when all of these wireless mics systems will be having 32bit float recording, and option to external micro sd card storage to completely eliminate the use of apps and proprietary software just for dealing with your audio file. I feel were getting closer to it, and once one company pulls the trigger, they all will follow through, then it will be our personal choice if you want brand A vs brand B, as long as most brands have the essentials covered.

    @@markwiemels yeah, I checked it out, it's on pre-order on B&H, but at the $1090.00 price it will suck in the US because due to patent infringement it won't be able to transmit and record simultaneously 🧐 I mean it has everything that I wished for except the price tag, but if to get the feature I'd have to find a way to circumvent US authorized dealers and have no warranty with a gray market product that leaves a lot to be desired. We'll hopefully it will be the catalyst to trigger other companies to do so. I just find it weird how Rode, DJI, Hollyland, and others can offer the functionality while Deity is facing issues, or perhaps it's a patent on recording 32bit float while transmitting, so I wonder what the solution will be.

    I'm smiling because the motorcycle roaring by is one of the things I intentionally record. I like going to events with sport motorcycles (not fart bikes if that's what you're describing), watercross snowmobiles, and big speedboats. For those I want reach and high SPL capability. If you have the Sennheiser MKE 400 - how is it physically holding up? There are a lot of knocks on B&H about the cold shoe mount breaking in a short period of ownership. Thx.

    The one thing that I don't like, which isn't limited to this particular mic or brand is the internal built-in battery, for me prosumer equipment should all have user friendly replaceable batteries, weather the batteries themselves are rechargeable or not. Especially lithium batteries that they all tend to die out after a couple of years of frequent use, that'd make the pre-planned obsolense of this mic on a 2 or so years cycle when a mic should be a long lasting item. Yes tech evolves, but no one should be forced into it. My dad has some mics back from his father that still are kicking despite being older than me, and sometimes that's a desired thing. One of these brands not so long ago had a mic like with a replaceable AAA battery, and yes it made the mic bigger, but we're talking 1cm bigger at best. This is why I prefer products with user friendly replaceable features, like internal storage which is bound to fail after given certain writings and formats cycles. I don't know, that's just my beef with things being engineered to fail and force users to purchase their next thing. Recently I've had to buy a microscope to learn microsoldering because tiny components can crap out on you and it doesn't mean an electronic is now garbage just because there is no easy way to swap parts. My Asus laptop with its infamous battery port that many users including me tend to break because they don't have a standard connector, Asus would gladly void my warranty, and although my fault, Asus makes no effort to signal to it's customers that the dang thing latches differently and is built like Chinese tofu dreg buildings. Alex from NorthridgeFix saved my otherwise doomed laptop, shout out to him. I just missed the days when things were engineered with repairability in mind vs toss it in the garbage we have nowadays. Lol sorry for too many rants in the comment 😅😅 nothing parsonal though 😁👌
