Dysautonomia. Have you taken him to the vet? I have dysautonomia and it causes neurological malfunctions with many systems, like eyes, digestion, heart rate, adrenaline function etc. It's not life threatening, but should he suffer from something like this, there could be something you could do to help his symptoms (like sunglasses). Other than that: You'll be a great father one day aside of being a great dog father already!

His eyes are blue, pale blue, but blue. As a White person I can confirm this is also known among humans.

What is up with his eyes?

That's what a dog will do for you. Give you a reason to get up and out each day, give you unconditional love, give you companionship and help you understand that you're not alone.

He’s stunning. Glad you stuck it through.

I think it should be a fact. That everytime you see a dog with a stick 2-3 time their size. It means they are HAPPY!! LOL!

I appreciate his honesty in discussing his initial struggles with owning a dog. Pet ownership isn’t for everyone because it is a HUGE responsibility and many do not rise to meet it, and the animal suffers. We need more dialogue like this so that if it makes even one person realize they are not ready for this challenge it’s worth it to save a potential animal the distress of having an ill equipped owner. Thanks very much Alex and Atlas.

His owner said owning a Pup was a shock to his lifestyle, but it looks like Atlas was shocked even more...lol. Super Gorgeous Pup! Animals really have a way of getting us out of our own heads, and there's nothing better than that. ❤

I can relate to this story so much, being responsible for a young dog for the first time was really hard on me mentally for a few months. I think much it was having your life schedule changed so much, but like Atlas' dad, I had that light bulb moment and started taking my buddy on adventures that we both love!

That’s not my experience with animals at all unfortunately, my sui attempts dramatically escalated because of having it in my living space, but for some people it definitely can help. It depends on the individual! 🤷

Atlas has Border Collie somewhere in his lineage. They want to do everything at Mach 1, they are very loyal and loving.

Now that's a fellow with integrity and generosity of heart - he was in a bad place and was overwhelmed with the sudden dog-having and all it entails and then pushed himself to think about Atlas' good and try to give him a good life. They say to be truly happy we need to think about others? Well, I'd say here, that was definitely the case and I take my hat off to that young man, and think Atlas has the best dad 😊

For those with anxious dogs you can try an Adaptil pheromone collar. It releases pheromones like a mother dog releases to make puppies feel safe. It took my friends dog from terrified of fireworks to playing & even eating. But it's not a replacement for all the other things you might need to do. Especially with a high energy, highly intelligent breed like Atlas. Kudos on this guy for not giving up & finding what it took to care for Atlas. But if you can't do that then it's ok to rehome your dog to people who actually can provide what they need. But even better is getting the kind of dog that suits you. I don't have a dog anymore because I have chronic pain & live in an apartment. I can't easily get them outside in the mornings without a yard. Also I'm more of a cat person that likes dogs. Adores them actually.

I struggled with my husky. Very high maintenance. Very intelligent. I stuck it out though. When she died I got a bulldog. It really is good to do homework on breeds. I'm glad you stuck it out. Puppies are hard work but once over that stage, they're a lot easier.
