You must have missed this, uhm jung hwa is a diva in korea. She is everywhere in the 90s, both singing and acting. She is super talented but the thyroid cancer kind of destroyed everything. To me she is still number 1

At first I thought they autotuned her voice but then I realised wow that's her actual tone! Uhm Jung Hwa is a pop diva 👏🏻👏🏻

In the song they’ve added a reverb/echo effect to make it sound less harsh/raw and even more exciting, and perhaps doubled up the vocal track to make it louder and more punchy to match the beat (these are both common in music). As for auto tune and pitch correct, I don’t think they used it since her pitch sounds pretty dead on to me... as shown here she has a naturally quick trill/vibrato between certain notes/syllables which can sound like it’s been modified.

Her scenes were so emotional and heartwarming to watch in this episode. I couldn't stop crying 😭 but I was so proud when she was able to do it. Yoo Jae Suk is really the best, deserves to be nations MC using his network to get her a great vocal coach and even paying for her lessons. I'm so proud of Uhm Junghwa for not giving up even after her cancer/surgery. The project group was a god send and Lee Hyori is a Queen for suggesting it. Even though she’s nervous, she really enjoy singing and still has the basic core of it. And seeing her singing with confidence just touched my heart. Her sparkling eyes!! Plus her tone is so accurate! Man-Ok fighting!!

She had thyroid cancer but still sounds better than many idols nowadays...She's a class of her own after all

Omg her voice is so unique it reminds me of Bollywood singers but better because it's her natural voice....she doesnt need any adjustments her voice alone is so amazing omg

I only knew her as an actress before. ...I never knew she's a big star (singer) during her time. And gosh, her voice is better than some of the younger idols nowadays.

I didn't know who she was till this project came out. Just read about her. She's amazing. A survivor. A badass woman. I'm so proud of her.

I got chills when I heard her part in the preview last week. Seriously soo pretty. I would’ve never thought she struggled singing this. Probably my favorite part of the whole song are her parts because her vocals are very pretty sounding. Good for her! She still has it of course.

Hyori, Jessi and Hwasa, all of them have strong vibe in their vocals. On the other hand, Jung-hwa unnie's voice is softer, like a contrast. That is what makes the whole song works so well. A breath of fresh air. ❤

Before I even knew her backstory listening to the song, I instantly fell in love with her voice. There’s this uniqueness and authenticity that can’t be replicated.

i had no idea of her background with thyroid cancer and I have so much respect for her omg. The fact that she can overcome her fear and build up her confidence is so hard to do but so inspiring.

Imagine being a reigning pop diva and suddenly not being able to sing. I cannot begin to imagine how hard that must have been for her. It's no surprise that she was a bundle of nerves & so low in confidence.💔

How did her voice worsen when she was able to release 4 singles in 2016-2017 and her thyroid recovery was still way back 2010? She was pointing out that she lost her confidence to sing due to her cancer in 2010.

the tone of this song is higher, she said she was scared about that, she used to sing on FA, SOL, LA (like in this song) but the surgery made her low the range of her voice

I didn't know who she was before this group. She's got amazing vocals. Her parts really stand out! 1st time I heard the final cut I expected her to have a meek voice but instead her vocals drew me in --like really drew me in. I need to go find more of her stuff.

Cried watching this episode, especially when she is with the vocal coach and breaks down crying. That is one strong woman right their and I am glad to have learned more about her.

Man ok in this show like to crack dad jokes, smile and laugh most of the time, but then we don't have any idea she is struggling and having a hard time. It really is true, the happiest person can be the saddest one too. .
