That was actually pretty realistic. No teenager is responsible enough to handle a full-blown Broadway production and the repetition that comes along with it. Her dream was an idea, and when she realized the reality of it was very different she went around looking for excitement elsewhere.

This always pissed me off too 😑 I understand her thinking she needs no mentors/teachers/schooling cause she got her dream role, that’s Rachel in a nutshell. She felt like she had nothing else to learn. Even just thinking she is the most talented person at the school is exactly what Rachel is all about. Talented but cocky, dramatic, and egotistical. But, her randomly risking her whole career for a tv pilot was not something I thought she would have done. She believed she was Fanny Brice and would never do anything to risk losing that. She’d risk losing everything and everyone else before she would risk losing that role.

Another example is when in S1 Rachel says she’ll do anything for fame except nudity and animal exploitation, and then in S4 and 5 she ends up doing both lmao

I always figured that the elaborate sets and lighting and background music was how they imagined their performances- not that they actually materialized and existed in the real world- except some of the plays where they reference that the sets actually exist. Like the umbrella/singing in the rain for example, I feel that was obviously imagination because money, but also, who would install all that and clean it up, like is the Glee club waiting for a crew to set up before they sing? and there's no way Figgins would allow all of that, especially with the later contention over that space. (although lol @glee being consistent at all) Idk, just my interpretation.

Allegedly, when Kurt left Mc Kinley, Will was about to give him a solo, which is super super duper mega weird, since he had never gotten a solo before. He was only in Dalton for two competitions and he was given a duet. Though that was not because of his talent, it's just because Blaine wanted to get into his pants

They had a whole storyline about how Will uses the same formula every competition so he does something different to prove sue wrong, they win yet he still ends up returnung back to his old ways. Despite the nature of the show, this is one thing that never made sense to me.

One of the biggest contradictions was Rachel telling Blaine he's too old to sing with The Warblers despite almost being the same age, but not saying anything when Mr 👟 would perform with ND even though he was in his late twenties/early thirties.

The biggest contradiction was the one that ruined the entire show for me. And that's how Finn went from saying no one ever makes it out of that "loser" town and moves onto stardom - to literally almost every OG member of the Glee club making it out and moving onto stardom. That was literally the premise of the whole show, trying to feel special despite the reality of being a "Lima loser".

He stayed where he was, and that was Bc he saw himself as a Lima loser, other glee kids didn't think like that, they thought it was possible, and that's the reason the got out.

@@ronnitschka He did get out and went onto college with Puck. He didn't make it to stardom because of the actor's tragic passing, but if he had lived, the character would've probably been a success story. So I don't think it was a state of mind, but a sad fact of life...until it apparently wasn't.

Aaaaaactually - most of them dropped out of their tertiary studies. Only in the last episode did they finally try to imply that they all went on to great things. And nothing says college-dropout more than continually lurking the halls of the high school you just graduated from by going back there almost every single day afterwards.

Am I the only remembering the reason why Shue didn't let Becky join was because it was literally right before regionals, a major completion for them? Like, I get it, everyone was welcome to join... but everyone is forgetting a critical detail of her asking, timing. Even if Becky didn't sing, it's likely she would have had issues with the choreography

For the first one - remember when the entire school got up and sang Beautiful (a song about acceptance) with Mercedes? Then everyone went back to bullying them.

Low key convinced the behind the scenes reason Rachel got all the solos was to keep Lea Michele's ego at bay. If they'd had a different person in that role, Mercedes and Artie and Tina would've got to sing.

I assumed Brittany knew having sex would get you pregnant, but she thought the stork existed as a second option. Some people really want a baby but can't get pregnant, or haven't met the right person, or can't afford adoption, so the stork will bring them a baby. Someone told her where babies come from but they didn't tell her the stork thing isn't real

honestly, glee is one of the most confusing and cringe shows I've ever watched yet I love it so much

the no tryouts wasn't a contradiction because the tryouts happened AFTER they won nationals and decided to change to tryouts. Should've been To Becky: Sorry we're almost at nationals and it's too late. To Joe: Sure, we're almost at nationals but you won the glee project and we need to squeeze you in here somewhere so get your no shoed self up here!

Right? It bothered me so much after they went through the whole “i may be butch, but I’m still a woman” thing and then decided actually nope, they’re trans now. They could have handled it so much better, like perhaps one of the other teachers could have been a very passing trans person who got outed and had to deal with suddenly everyone treating them differently after finding out, even though their gender expression hadn’t changed

yes and they constantly said how rachel was “the most talented person that the rest of glee looks up to” but Mercedes was so much better and also sings more effortlessly (meanwhile rachel/lea opens her mouth so much it looks like her jaw is gonna pop)

You severly underestimate teen shows if you think the stereotypical teen show is not weird and actually a lot realistic.. This is something teens ask from literally every teen show. And there's no problem with characters not being perfect all the time and even having the same hurdle once they've already overcome it. But completely ooc behaviour, neglect of any growth time and time again can be exhausting once you've done it more than twice. It makes people hate characters and not want to see them. Also there's contradiction. And then there's just plothole and just not sticking to the rules of your own word and rewriting them again and again and again like a five year old making stories about his/her toys

Honestly the most “realistic” teen show I’ve seen in terms of characters feeling like real people is Buffy the Vampire slayer. A show about a girl fighting demons feels more real than glee 😂

Glee is a mess, but Blaine stopped liking the valentines gift cause he got rejected by the guy he liked. So now he is not so much a fan of Valentine’s Day x

Ooh don't forget that time in one of the early seasons, maybe s2, when Mr. Shue is like "guys you need to treat the girls better, frankly so do I" and later proceeds to suspend Marley from the glee club for not wearing a seashell bikini without even getting her side of the story

The rules/format for nationals changed all the time. I remember thinking each season “hey that wasn’t a thing last time” but the biggest one that stuck out to me was that in season two the glee club had to make top 10 to advance to the final round and they didn’t. But every year after that there’s no second round? They just compete and win out of 50. Unless I misunderstood or misremembered but there was definitely something with the top 10.

The way the glee club reacts to their own members performances is so inconsistent
