Doris Roberts did an outstanding job playing Marie Barone , we all know a Marie for sure, love Peter Boyle too

Doris Roberts accomplished quite an impressive feat with that character, you wanna hate Marie for being so meddlesome, critical and manipulative, yet you can't help but love her.

Actually it is easy to despise and hate Marie Barone. Doris Roberts played her brillantly but the character is still a manipulitive evil, hateful extreme narcissist who verges on and sometimes goes into psychopathology. I just plain hate the character.

Not only do I hate Marie, but I hate Raymond for being spineless around her. If my Mom ever insulted my wife's parenting skills like Marie does, I would be laying down the law quickly regarding her behavior on future visits. I love my mom, but there'sa limit. A man looks out for his wife and kids. At a certain point you can't be a mommas boy, it has the word "boy" in it for a reason.

@@stevedem76 I agree and it doesn't help that she psychologically raise Raymond to be that way sometimes. sometimes you wish Raymond stands up to his mom. It also doesn't help her that she made Robert life sometime a sad experience because of that his mom favors Raymond over him. I always feel sorry for Robert.
I love how most of Marie's craziest moments are with Robert

She's not a villain, she's stubborn, overbearing and camp. Everybody Loves Raymond just portrays a family, and I don't think it has a villain. (Xept Peggy maybe)

The meatball thing was just evil. She never missed a chance to criticise Debra’s cooking, then sabotaged her and would’ve kept quiet about it if she hadn’t been caught. Just the worst.

My MIL did that to me, too....she gave me a recipe for her "famous" cookies, YET left out ingredients. She did this after she told me her mother did this to her. I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree LOL

Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts are classic actors of all time. Mr. Boyle deserved a lot more recognition in his life 👏 for the quality of his character acting.

I can definitely see Frank being a gentleman before he met Marie 😂
Just finished watching this show on Prime. Props to Debrah for having so much patience living with her insane mother - father in law. Girl was confident telling Raymond it'd be okay to live near his parents and turns out.... 😂 I love Debrah and Robert 😂

Too many snowflakes today. There would be an uproar about how abusive they were all to each other. Such a great show!! It was actually closer to being a reality show than actually “reality” shows of today

I can't believe with all the crossovers this show did with King of Queens, they never had an episode where Frank met Arthur Spooner
2 crazy schemes that are missing are: 1. When Marie tried to manipulate Amy and Robert into getting pregnant (creating the ambiance with wine, candles, buying boxers for Robert, etc) 😭🤣 2. When she used the "thank you notes" argument to solidify her relationship with Amy, tear down the Amy/Debra alliance and make Lee think Marie had excellent taste (and secure acceptance of future suggestions from Marie) ...was absolutely diabolical 🤔🤔😭🤣🤣🤣

What's crazy is they died the same year. She was 91 and he was 71
Everything I learned from life I learned from Everyone loves Raymond. Just a few: 1) Family drives you crazy, you love them always. 2) Subconscious bias is everywhere, even in your own family. 3) Everyone has a different perspective (that should be valued) just a matter of your experience and where you stand in life. And so on and so on.
She & frank were the reason I bought whole series..

This is one of all time favourite show. Not because it was funny and the acting was great but it had a meaningful lesson to learn from after some or each episode.

This show had the best writing. And coupled with the exceptional talent of all of the lead actors. Even the support actors are really funny.
For all her meddling she does love the family the scene where she talks to the fbi agent bought tears in my eyes and has genuine affection or when she gives Debra Marriage advice
