I feel like Joey's Ace is Time Wizard, it's one of the cards he uses the most and represents his luck based strategy.

Ishizu’s is definitely Exchange of Spirit. Yami Marik mentions during her duel with Kaiba that she used to bully Marik with it back when they were kids.

Mind you, as he said, that's a movie. Having read the original manga, Duel Monsters never expanded beyond the main cast. The choice of cards by Yugi's friends in Duelist Kingdom are based off of the tabletop RPG game played in the original Yugioh. Triston was a gunner, Joey was a warrior and Tea was a mage. Yugi himself was actually a beast tamer. This also, technically, applies to Bakura. Bakura plays as a White Mage and appears from Zorc when Yugi attempts to turn Zorc into a friend. Which also could be why Bakura chooses Change of Heart in that filler/adaptation. He is lying to you when he calls Strike Ninja weird. Dark Armed Dragon was fueled by Strike Ninja's ability to manipulate the grave, keeping 3 Dark Monsters in the grave for Dark Armed Dragon to be able to special summon itself for free. Combined with cards that summon from the banished pile, Strike Ninja was a powerful key in these decks.

Small correction. The cards were altered due to censorship, but it was specifically due to dodge anti advertising laws regarding childrens animation. For reference Pyramid of Light had the cards appear like real life cards as those laws aren't as strict for kids' films.

My favorite deck to run even though it's not met and arguably never was meta is Amazons, and ironically they actually mix well with the Queens Knight set. They're super easy to use, the art is pretty and as a kid I always dreamed of having that deck in actuality, I had the deck in the ps2 game for GX but never actually had it because my mom wouldn't buy me the cards, most of the ones i had were hand me down or bought with my own money. Boys also used to make fun of me for playing coz ya know TCG was sometimes seen as a boys thing, so monsters like the Amazons and Dark Magician Girl always helped serve as my validation that this game was also for me. I still have a fondness for Amazoness Paladin though I struggle to use her anymore.

My ace is Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon. I've loved Blue-Eyes ever since I saw it as a wee lad in the early 2000s, I fell in love with the Synchro mechanic as soon as it came out (and 5D's is arguably peak Yugioh anime). It just clicked with me as soon as I laid eyes on the Saga of the Blue Eyes White Dragon structure Deck. yes Azure-Eyes isn't technically a Blue-Eyes card, but it's my favorite card nonetheless.

That Cyber Commander and card you have are not from a different company, like Wizards of the Coast. That is simply how Konami's Japanese YGO cards were designed for a few years, until they changed to the TCG's design, for parity, and the TCG text box allowed for more wording. The only other version of the YGO card game is the Bandai one, based off 'Season Zero' which was done by Toei.

Yugioh Manga just built different from everything that I've heard. It sounds wild.

I run Bujins and Six Samurai which is funny to me because they play extremely different. But even though it would kinda disrupt the flow of the decks, I run 2 copies of compulse even though it goes over the 40 card optimization size because I think it's funny. I know a friend of mine who runs unexpected dai because summoning what amounts to a brick out on the field is really funny. I miss the days where people build decks because they think its cool or because building a deck a certain way would be funny. I don't know how many people are aware of older cards like Ally of Justice Catastor but I was dying on the laughing because watched my opponent on master duel ram three 3k-4k beaters into it wondering why they keep dying before surrendering. Back to Bujins and Six Samurai, my ace card in Bujins would be Bujin Yamato because he's the decks main search engine. In Six Samurai i have several, most obviously would be Shi En, their only synchro monster, however ever since Gateway of the Six go unbanned it became another ace card. Another would be Kageki who usually facilitates my synchro along with smoke signal. A funny combo I like to do is use Shadow of the Six (the XYZ monster) to boost Kageki's original attack from 200 to 2000, and Kageki boosts himself an extra 1500 atk when theres another samurai on the field with him. So it's really funny to see my opponents look at a lvl 3 200 atk monster suddenly jump up to 3500 atk.

22:13 - there is a card that lets you normal summon level 7 monsters with no tribute; Kashtira Birth.

I'll admit I just kind of net decked for some deck ideas for online stimulators like Omega or Master Duel but I fell in love with some fun decks like Subterrors, Invoked Artifact, and my absolute favorite Invoked Kaiju. My Ace Monster would probably be Aliester the Invoker and the boss would be Invoked Mechaba or Mecha Thunder King Dogoran (the card meant to be Mecha Ghidorah from Godzilla).

The original printing of Relinquished, didn't have enough space for the text that tells you to Summon it with Black Illusion Ritual.

Dark Magician was my first real deck, and i still love the deck. Ive had so many duels where im on the ropes, and i draw the 1 card I need to turn the duel into a victory. I only play semi-competitivly with my friends, granted, but still, DM is a lot of fun!

My favorite deck has to be Z-arc while my ace is Odd-eyes Phantom dragon

32:10 The *exact* same thing happened to Toon Dark Magician Girl. Her text was so annoyingly long that they didn't have enough space to add the summoning sickness restriction on her. Making her, even after fixing it with all the trouble solving card text, the only Toon that can attack the turn its summoned to this day.

I would guess it has to fdo with the original not Saying Spell but magic. so you could get trap cards back with it and probably there was some game breaking combo with a specific trap card. Like mirror force, maybe.

Nope. Spell Cards were originally called Magic Cards, it was changed due to possible copyright problems with Magic the Gathering. You could not use Magician of Faith to get Trap Cards, who was considered broken because of the power of cards like Pot of Greed and Dark Hole had to be limited to 1, and Magician of Faith basically let a person use 2.

I wish Cyber Commander got an archetype.

Branded is the undisputed goat, its the only deck I've ever shelled out to have physically

Yeah sorry to say but Dartzz uses Banner as toilet paper for that Duel, literally nothing Banner’s duel can do means anything to Dartzz. His attack directly thing would only boost Qutora, and eventually his 2 boss monsters come out and just wipe Banner off the face of existence

I love the arcadia variant of d magician, funny fact, in the gba game YGO the sacred cards, due to coding the arcadia variant doesnt count as a dark magician when using dm girls effect, theres that useless tidbit for everyone

Dragoon, you mean the monster that swiftly got power crept by DPE. The errata for MoF was for text change, it didn't change anything besides the wording. PSCT bois. Magic card -> spell card Edit: in the anime Revival Jam doesn't have a cost and it comes back immediately. Goddamn stupid broken, especially for the time.

I'm not sure if you take suggestions here or somewhere else. But if you love old YuGiOh nerdy stuff you should react to "Lost Worlds" videos on the first original Japanese YuGiOh formats. It's episodes 10, 11, 12, and 13 of his "History of Japanese TCG's" series. At minimum you should watch episode 11 cause it talks about a crazy Riot that happened over the last piece of Exodia and it's wild. Love the content.

I dont think the errata is the reasons its unbanned. Im pretty sure its unbanned because its effe t is not worth the slowness of a flip monster

They had to pass laws in the 90s to protect the children from evil marketing. That's why the Yu-Gi-Oh cards in the anime for the West had to be changed. Parent groups complained to the government that companies marketing to their children was evil and had to be stopped, so the government passed laws to restrict marketing to children. That, along with the internet becoming a popular thing, killed off Saturday cartoons.
