    Yeah, him Regal and Davey Boy are the ones I remember most, but D'Lo edges it because he made the belt so much fun. He was very inventive with his vignettes. He is pretty much the reason why I remember the title fondly.

D-lo, x-pac, and Owen did so much more with the belt.

    DJDub88 the European title has always been secondary and while changing the brand’s name wouldn’t be a bad idea, NXT UK isn’t a bad name and the UK championship has been the definitive world title that the whole brand was built around. I understand that the UK is smaller than Europe but it wouldn’t make since to change the entire brand based off a mid-card title from the 90s. Just bring back the European Championship and make it NXT UK’S equivalent to the NXT North American championship

    Adam Paccitti, D'Lo Brown should be number 1. Number 1: D'Lo Brown was remembered for his 4 reigns as WWF European Champion and was the first ever WWF EuroContinental Champion. He produced the best matches in the Attitude Era, an era when in-ring matches were bad and the matches that didn't involve the WWF World Championship would last less than 9 minutes. Because of that, D'Lo had to make sure those 9 minute matches he had for the European Championship would be great. His first title reign started off when he beat Triple H on an episode of Raw on July of 1998 with help from The Rock. Every time he won and carried the belt, he made it prestigious. Number 2: William Regal. Number 3: The British Bulldog was the first WWF European Champion and his match against Owen Hart to crown the first champion. But he rarely defended the belt on Raw and his most memorable match with the belt was when he infamously got screwed and lost the belt to Shawn Michaels at WWF 1 Night Only. His second reign was not memorable.

    What gives, Adam? In Triple H's entry, you also mentioned his 5 reigns as IC Champion, the last of which is under the EXACT SAME circumstances as RVD's lone European Title reign. I suppose I'll allow it for 2 reasons: the fact that the company did actually reactivate the IC Title, unlike the European Title, and also due to what you said at the end, "Your list, your rules." 🍻

  • @jeremyhegg9367

    @jeremyhegg9367

    4 жыл бұрын

    I'd say it was because Triple H had 4 other IC Title reigns before that to base his ranking on. RVD held the European Title only once and it was deactivated immediately afterwards. If he had another longer reign with the title beforehand, it would've made it easier to rank him.

    The European Championship in '97 was great. It was on the same level --- if not slightly higher than --- the IC belt, with upper-mid carder Bulldog holding it and defending it against guys like Shamrock. That carried on into '98, with Owen vs Triple H at WM14 seeming like a bigger deal than Rock vs Shamrock. I loved D-Lo as the champ and so I hate to say it but his tenure with the belt and his feud with X-Pac are kinda what brought the title down to a lower-than-IC level. But for a good year and a half in '97 and '98, the European title was what the US title is now. Great memories.

    Jesus Castillo is a Puertorican Wrestler who was a Legend in WWC (in PR) under the name Huracán Castillo. WWC was surprisingly pretty good wrestling for a over a decade late 80s/90s (probably even before that). CCC comes from there (and when back) his dad was the Man Carlos Colon. A lot of great WWF wrestlers went to PR and worked with Colon all the time, Ric Flair, Harley Race, Hulk Hogan, Terry Funk, Diamond Dallas Page, Scott Hall, Booker T, Samoa Joe, Curt Hennig, Pedro Morales, Macho Man, Kane,Dusty Rhodes among several others. BTW must of them if not all of them ended up loosing. Another Legend down there was Savio Vega who was know as Karateka Ninja TNT.

    I would like to see the European Championship for the NXT UK brand as a mid card title, like how the North American Championship is on NXT.

    I found myself saying “I sorta remember them holding the belt” then I realised by that I mean I may have seen them hold the belt on their shoulder or waist at some random point but don’t remember them winning it, losing it or defending it

    This is your video so I don't blame you for not including RVD, however in my opinion if he won a European Championship match regardless if WWE recognizes it or not, he is a former European champion and does deserve recognition for such.

    Even though it didn't represent the European theme, I still love this championship with all my heart, should have gone to smackdown in 2002, or be the top Mid-card title In NXT UK

    I reckon RVD should place in-between Spike Dudley and Test. While his Reign started and ended in less than a day, he won the European Championship in a Champion Vs. Champion Match with Jeff Hardy on RAW, and I remember it being another fun bout between the two. RVD became a dual Champion and the final European Champion, technically making RVD an undefeated European Champion. Suck on that Van Daminator, Shane!

    As an Englishman I love Bulldog, but D-Lo Brown is hands down the best European Champion ever. His matches with X-Pac were incredible and I just picture him coming out with that dope Nation music with the belt before anyone else.
