Hollywood romances are often short-lived, and no one knew this better than the actor that we'll be discussing in this facts-packed video. From Bette Davis to Connie Stevens, Canadian-American Actor Glenn Ford dated some of the most influential and prolific female stars of his day. In fact, according to his personal diaries, he had affairs with as many as 146 actresses. Ford was among the most prominent leading men of Hollywood's Golden Age and was one of the biggest box-offices draws of the 1940s into the 1960s, so it's not surprising that he was also one of Tinsel Town's most eligible bachelors.
Ford's career lasted more than five decades. A few of his most significant film roles were in film noir classics like 1946s Gilda and 1953s The Big Heat. He's also noteworthy for appearing in films like the 1955s angsty high school drama Blackboard Jungle and comedies and westerns like 1957s 3:10 to Yuma and 1961s Pocketful of Miracles - the latter of which earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a comedy.
In addition to dating some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, Glenn Ford was married four times. Each of these unions ended in divorce. Ford failed to remain on good terms with his ex-wives as he was a notorious womanizer who frequently had affairs with his co-stars.
A few of Ford's extramarital trysts were with leading ladies like Rita Hayworth, Stella Stevens, Barbara Stanwyck, and Eva Gabor. In the early 40s, he had a brief fling with Joan Crawford and in 1962, he had a one-night stand with the one and only Marilyn Monroe. Join Facts Verse as we take a look back at some of Glenn Ford's most noteworthy Hollywood affairs.

I worked at a hotel in the 90's that hosted an event which brought in many celebrities on the Big-Island. Towards the end of the weeklong event most locals heard about it and started crashing the scheduled events looking for autographs and just meet and greets. There was an older man in a track suit shuffling towards Brook Shields with his hand outstretched. I walked towards him to intercept him and walk him out when Brook turned around and said "Glen, Glen Ford, it's so great to see you again". At that point I realized I almost 86'd a Hollywood legend.

Not too Funny is how, after a certain amount of years, one just looks "Old". Carole Lombard was Clark Gable's love of his life. Crawford and he had great chemistry on screen and may have been lovers, but Lombard was it for him. He had multiple films with Jean Harlow and others. He had great chemistry with Harlow and would have more films with her but she died young. I don't see support for the "being there in thick and thin" by Crawford, although I'm sure they were friendly.

Ford was a talented stud. He had that magic mix of intelligence, brawn that men respect, and polite kindness. That package is devastating to any woman or to any human really. Ford had fun in his life. Good. He didn't need to have a crappy time. He related a lot of good role model energy as far as I'm concerned. Only in modern times do people see strong male identity as something to criticize. He related more solid fatherly vibes in his brief role in Superman than most actors do in a lifetime. Glenn Ford was the perfect every man counter to the loud and ruthless ideal the Nazis pushed on the world. Glenn Ford proved you could be strong and decent at the same time.

@@FactsVerse 3:10 to Yuma, A Time for a Killing I liked westerns/horses to see the horses actors rode. I didn’t see his earlier movies. His son Peter Ford was in some of them. Also in that time was the great Ben Johnson, who was a true rodeo competitor. As to stars that can really ride, “sit a horse”, Robert Duvall, Gene Hackman & Kevin Costner. Too young to know Ford was a ladies man. I paid more attention to the star’s horses.

He had a substantial relationship with Hope Lange (mentioned in Christopher Isherwoods diary, as he was a long term close friend of Lange and her first husband, Don Murray). Film stars were stars primarily because they were beautiful. Is it any wonder that a beautiful leading man like Ford should have affairs with a whole string of his equally beautiful leading ladies. Sounds like a good time had by all!

Who would have thought that Glenn Ford had such an itch that needed 140 women to scratch. His relationship with Rita Hayworth reminded me of how Spencer Tracy's relationship with Katherine Hepburn was rather similar. Tracy and Hepburn were having an affair that lasted for years but Tracy refused to divorce his wife to marry Hepburn because he was raised as a Catholic and divorce was prohibited by the church. Yet he had no problem with committing adultery with his co-star many times over the years. Go figure.

He must have done lunch time affairs with a lot of energy; that most men usually have, when they are young! I wonder did they meet at The Roosevelt Hotel or The Chateau Marmont? The President of Columbia Pictures Harry Cohn; once told Glenn Ford and William Holden, that if the must get into trouble, to get in trouble there!.
