The art in Sandman overture is amazing. Preacher and Sandman are my favourites.

Hey Gem - thanks for another great “Every omnibus so far feature.” I have quite a few of these and plan on picking up a few more after seeing this. The Ex Machina series by Vaughan has nothing to do with the British made movie of the same name - completely different authors and stories. I believe there is a TV show in development for this Vaughan run though. I am reading it now and it is really good - great writing and art and definitely worth a recent reads on the channel. Of all of these Vertigo titles the one that stood out the most was Preacher. Great video as always Gem 💎

Great video. If you like Preacher, then you will really love Transmetropolitan. It was published in the late 90s - early 2000s and is set in a near future setting. Several of it's predictions happen like constant bombardment of media through mobile platforms. It has that same dark, sarcastic humor as Preacher. Animal Man and Doom Patrol were both published before Vertigo existed. Grant Morrison was just being very experimental with both properties. Later, they would be lumped into the Vertigo imprint. If you enjoyed Animal Man, then you will love Doom Patrol. It does the same deconstruction of superheroes and introduces new ways of thinking. I learned Meme theory by ready it. It's a trip. Invisibles is not as good by still worth reading. It's funny that you mention V for Vendetta in this video. We talked about it this weekend on our podcast Comics Misremembered. We specifically talk about the art style and why it looks so funky. Keep up the good work and you have some awesome reading in your future.

I need to pick up American Vampire soon. I read the first trade 5 or 6 years ago and really dug it. Holy crap, you gotta read Sleeper!!! That's a great series, a quick read too.

I do enjoy the DC/Vertigo Omnibus & Absolute editions however the one I have been patiently waiting for is "Sandman Mystery Theatre" by Matt Wagner, Steven T, Seagle & Guy Davis, Now THAT was an absolutely Superb 70 Issue Series! So come Vertigo and please release this Classic collectiom of Golden Age Sandman stories! Does anyone agree with me?

V for Vendetta is one of the greatest comics of all time. I’ve read it twice and want to read it again because it’s so damn good. I highly recommend it.

If you're an Alan Moore fan, From Hell, Swamp Thing, and of course Watchmen are all terrific titles. I especially love From Hell.

Man, people that crap on 90s comics are forgetting about the Vertigo movement that was going on. My favorite era of comics was that whole thing. Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, Sandman, list goes on and you can't beat it. Doom Patrol are my favorite superhero team, and that omnibus is one of my favorite runs in all of comics. It's not for everyone, and some arcs slow down, but if you're into getting weird, can't get better than DP. Tackles a lot of themes that were ahead of its time too, sexuality/gender identity, mental illness, things like that.

That Absolute Absolute Death and Absolute Sandman Overture is a must. Wrapping up Absolute Sandman vol 1and will need the rest soon. J H Williams is amazing wish I'd been in the game for the Absolutes of Promethea but the Deluxe Editions are just as good

I built a slipcase for my copy of The Invisibles omnibus. At 1500 pages, it's not an easy book to store and handle. Also, the American Vampire's first arc was co-written by Stephen King.

Really love the channel, bro! I'm halfway through The Invisibles and you've got to check it out. Dense and out there but so much fun! Please do a review when you do read it!

Love my absolute sandman collection I do love the pages of the omnibus. The black coloring of the pages and slick design makes me want to double dip but I honestly prefer the absolute editions because it really stands out.

Best way to describe The Invisibles is it's The Matrix on LSD...it's kinda like a successor/remake of his Doom Patrol run, in that they're both about reality being a giant collective drug trip or hallucination. It was probably one of the first comics to talk about memes too

WOWZA! The only Vertigo omnis I own are Sandman (about to be all 3), American Vampire, Ex Machina, & iZombie. Can't believe I missed my chance to buy the Animal Man one.

Sleeper is one of my favorite comics of all time, and in my opinion the best thing Brubaker has written. It actually takes place loosely in the WildC.A.T.s universe (Grifter is in the prequel miniseries), and features a villain originally created by Alan Moore. Definitely get on that one if you haven't read it, you will not be disappointed.

I just finished the House of Secrets omni and surprisingly enjoyed it. Its got some trippy weird stuff but nothing more than whats in Sandman.

Man, I'd give anything to have your collection. I live in a third world country though and our currency is dogshit, so these omnis are extremely expensive. I buy what I can, but that shelf behind you and all my favourite comics on your desk makes me jealous like nothing else in this world.

I love how u don't just collect statues but books as well that's awesome keep it up bro reading is awesome.

Yea Gem, Doom Patrol is like the DC X-men but they actually came first. Whether Marvel copied or not is still up for debate.

American Vampire is awesome! It's just as good as Snyder's Batman.

Good video. It turns out I have almost all these books too. Some absolute you have I got deluxe or trade. I don't have izombie, and I'm on the fence for the coming Y the last man omnibus. Sandman I love so much, I went for double dip. Have absolute 1-5, omni 1-2 (and buying 3), death deluxe, overture deluxe. I really like Vertigo line. Most of them are standalone, no confusing cross-over or reference to other books. And generally deeper, more creative and literary than others.

You NEED to get on that Transmet book!!!

Speaking of Snyder’s Batman, they have FINALLY solicited an omnibus vol.1! According to Amazon, it’ll be released on October 22nd (probably sooner on IST) and will collect the first 33 issues of the run. I friggin can’t wait!

Think you'll really like that amvamp omni, I devoured that in no time flat. That Doom Patrol omnibus is one of my favorite things ever, though it and Animal Man weren't Vertigo when they originally came out. Pissed that I missed out on the omnibus of Animal man (new printing please D.C.). Still gotta get around to reading izombie. There are omni's of Lucifer and Y the last man scheduled for later in the year, looking forward to those but I'm hoping for Preacher and Transmetropolitan in the omnibus format sometime soon. I always love your "Every ____ Released So far" videos. dOOM pATROL was the very first omni I ever bought and the Sandman Absolutes are the crown jewels of my collection The way things are going with DC, you may want to do a "Every Omnibus CANCELED So far" video!" I just found out they canceled the next JLA, House of Secrets and Brave & Bold bronze omnis as well as the Joker Bronze omni and the DC Bronze Age Jack Kirby omnibus. I had pre-ordered all 5 of these! What the @#$% is going on at DC?

Just got the Doom Patrol omni. Did not know it was that massive. Im in for a surprise when it shows up 😂

It’s always a shame to see someone mask an “opinion” as a mean-spirited, insulting, contentious, judgment on a stranger for seemingly no reason other than to create drama and draw attention. Primarily, hurt people do this stuff and waste energy on actions like this so they can in turn become victims and lash out at others for “bullying” them over an “opinion”.

Vertigo is an imprint of DC so if you're a fan of some of the more mature books like Watchmen you should look into some of these.

@@stormblade2895 tbh I just got into comics like a few months back and love batman which is mostly what I have read. I also read some wonder woman and deathstroke omnibus but besides that I haven't read anything and these comics look cool so i can't even relate to watchmen :(

There's also three Sandman omnibus releases aside from the Absolutes, two that cover the whole original run and a third that collects the stuff in the fifth Absolute plus Death and Overture.

i never took the time to see what the omnibus collect...i didnt realize vol 3 had overture. thats pretty cool. i dont think i will sell the absolutes to get the omins though...even though it does seem like a space saver.

Can you do a every omnibus release so far? Case I know there's many updates in your library

Maybe this is a conversation for a Gem Live but, what makes a story worthy of an absolute? I am newish to the game and I only have two absolutes but to me they have to be a combination of a good story and kick ass art. I know it is all subjective tastes but some of these books just didn't seem to have art that really calls for an absolute. I really liked Preacher and Sandman's art, makes me worried for my wallet over the next few months. Stay minty folks...
