Yeah I get it too....would seem kind of silly. I have no idea if there is an upper limit (practical or otherwise) on the number of timestamps. Is there a way to get a transcription of this video? Does YT offer that service or ability? This video is a great resource and I've referenced it a couple times already when figuring out what I don't need to have installed.

@@michaelengelby732ou can get a transcript of videos in the description. Some videos (like this one) use automatic captioning though so the transcript could be more or less inaccurate.

there are few underestimated packages, DHCP Server can be useful when having a dedicated network port on NAS for direct connection, and be able connect various devices without setting static IPs on every device, or buying another router for that mini network; Migration Assistant might prove handy when having two NASes and wanting to expand volume with bigger drives, theoretically would be faster and safer to mirror/migrate and then swap drives, having two full copies of data with all the configs

Great overview my friend. Synology installs so many packages I don't think I need, but I fear that uninstalling any of them will remove any dependencies that other package features may be reliant upon without my knowing. Great vid ! Funny how school is so much fun as we get older. In the future, could you consider an overview about SSH (Putty etc.)? 👍👍👍💫💫💫💫💫

So if I have two Synology NAS units and I use one strictly for backups (Memory Beta) for my two laptops and one desktop computers and I have a second NAS (Memory Alpha) that will have all of my videos (DVD's and BluRay movies using PLEX), photos, documents, and will also be running some Docker containers. I want to backup Memory Alpha NAS to Memory Beta NAS; which would you recommend I use? Active Backup or Hyper Backup? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Hey, I think I just gave you a new video idea.

Please note that Media Server has a MAC address access list that lets you control which devices can see your media. Media server is great for allowing devices such as Blu-ray players to play movies stored on your NAS. It is not an uncontrolled free-for-all.

Quick note about the Surveillance Station camera licenses, DO NOT THROW AWAY THE KEY! For some stupid reason, they are not tied to your account and if, for whatever reason, you reset your NAS, you CANNOT recover those keys unless you held onto the physical card the key came on. It's fucking stupid! I learned this the hard way a couple of days ago.

I've really been struggling to find an AI assisted image file organizer that can organize images by analyzing and tagging if imagery is landscape, has people, has animals, is of a certain style. Even better if it can be manually trained as we use the NAS for storage of all sorts of graphic design. I know such programs exist but because many of our various designs are intellectual property, a local program to do this is ideal and it seems most options are cloud-based only. Anyone have suggestions? Especially since Syn Photos sucks and only works when everything is in ONE folder? (DS220+ w/ DSM 7.2-64570) Also not against running such an application on a machine, having the organization done, and then uploading back to the NAS post-organization.
