very helpful. However i noticed a lot of songs tend to allow the vocal to get slightly buried. take for example Daft punks song make love. The vocal is buried but i think it ends up helping the mix by not bringing out the vocal in certain situations

Hey, great video, have often wondered about this concept, now its good to know how to move forward with it. And you're so close to 1000 subs. All the best with your channel.

I noticed that 800-1200 hz is the most important part in a vocal and tend to duck that range. Around 1000 hz

i think the multiband does a better job because it focus exclusively on the fundamental presence of the vocal. i feel like in this case Soothe is taking out stuff in the track that are important but not as important for the vocal. Multiband best fits this method. Great vid though!

I think the FabfilterMB did a better job of giving the vocal clarity imho

Actually it's not the best trick because you're randomly changing the sound of the instruments which you carefully crafted in the mix whenever the vocals come in. It's better to mix the vocals a bit higher and let the mix bus compressor turn down the whole mix for that moment. Typical SSL bus compressors do it well, also The God Particle plugin is good at this (altough it uses multiband compressor). If you still want to use the technique shown in this video it's better to do it only on the bus which includes the instrument which is fighting with the vocal a bit instead of the whole instrumental bus.
