He got more comfortable as the game went along. He was even running no-huddle almost exclusively the drive they got down to the Red zone. The dropped pass to Alec Pierce showed me he's ready. Yes , he's raw in the sense that his mechanics aren't refined , which leads to those occasional off-placement throws , but he has composure & an understanding of the position. I thought Richardson was a 3rd or 4th round pick based on his play at Florida, his underware olympics performance overinflated his stock. I don't know how the Colts can sit the 4th overall pick but that's what needs to happen because Richardson needs time to develop his passing mechanics, grasp the playbook and be able to read the defenses. I agree there is a significant possiblity for a bust. Not because of Richardson's inability but because the orgainization is going to have to make the square peg fit in the round hole. Richardson plays just like Lamar did when he was early in his career. Lamar had a tendency to play way too fast so his mechanics would break down because his pace was a step ahead of the game speed. This led to him not following through with his throws or rushing clean reads making the passes harder than they should. Given time AR5 will find that pace and be in rhythm, the results could be amazing at that point.

I'm acknowledging my bias here, but I think his arm talent is significantly better than Lamar's was coming out. Still a good comparison though.

Hopefully this dude pops. An LJ type career is within reason. Even if he doesn't become a proficient passer, as long as he doesn't become a liability with pics he will be effective. The floor of a super athlete at QB is still higher than a ball thrower that can't run.

Gator fan here. I love AR. Great human being and im rooting for him to succeed. I think he needed another year in college as a starter to finish cooking because his talent is pretty raw. Hus ceiling is so high, hard for anyone to deny it, but its the floor that really matters and his, imo, is too low. He is going to make the highlight for both great play and bad play.

Everybody keeps screaming what an athlete he is, but being a successful NFL QB is all about moving the chains. It's not about making a few freakish athletic plays every game. Think about it, you never hear anybody raving about what great athletes all the extremely successful NFL QB's were. It is just the opposite, people joked about how slow they were, and some did not have the strongest arms, but they all had one thing in common, the ability to move the chains.

He got in some good snaps. Most of it was hand offs, but those are needed. Gotta get used to that and the RPO. He has a zip to his throws, yet still has touch. Having live defenders rush you and you having tho get your shot out there to your guy is good practice for a preseason game. Let this guy get that experience and comfortability, I think he'll be good for your Colts team.
