I didn’t even realize that while making the video. That’s really astounding isn’t it. I think it could be because anything she does that could be a war crime can be attributed to others who were coercing her into doing them, like Coral or Darkstalker. But that really is fascinating, good catch

7:45 _A Guide To The Dragon World_ actually sheds a little bit of light on this topic. In Tau's note to Cricket (Pg 188), she briefly talks about this paper she found hidden away in Wasp's quarters and says "I think it might be the last thing Queen Monarch ever wrote, and it gives our tribe some clues about what really happened to her, at long last. After she abdicated the throne, she vanished from sight", as well as describing said paper as "a little more sinister than [a humble life/a death in battle]". The letter itself is Monarch contemplating her choices, being unsure of herself and her faith, thinking back on past events and memories, and questioning if this was really what was supposed to happen, all the while writing this in what can be best described as a surrogate holding cell _("But I did not expect to end up here, trapped in a room in Wasp Hive, guarded day and night",_ Pg 189). Monarch says "The only dragon I'm ever allowed to talk to is Wasp" (Pg 191) and references multiple times that she is cut off from any other dragon, unable to leave or make any choices for herself _("-never to see my dragons again", "I wish I could leave these rooms and visit my tribe", "I wish I could be up there with [the SilkWings]", "Maybe then Wasp will let me out", "I would be happy to slip away, to disappear, if [Wasp] would let me",_ Pgs 189 - 192). It's not 100% confirmed whether or not she died in that room, but she can probably be presumed dead given that few dragons even knew where she was (assuming that the HiveWing guards knew who or what they were guarding), let alone that Wasp hadn't killed her already, so there'd likely be no one to rescue her or keep her alive in there. Her last lines are, "I am sure [Clearsight] will guide them to the brightest future. Even if I won't be there to see it, at least I know they will be alright" (Pg 192), which certainly _feels_ like a final send-off, if nothing else. In terms of Wasp "leaving no descendants Queen Monarch", on Page 189 the former SilkWing Queen says "And then my tribe will have no queen, and I leave no heirs. I've lived barely twenty years -- I thought I had so much time for all of that", implying that she never had any dragonets of her own in the first place, and Page 190 states she "only had brothers" who (from memory) have never come up, so they likely didn't bear any female dragonets to pose a threat (unless those are the "descendants" Wasp, in theory, got rid of). So essentially Queen Monarch went ~50 years (assuming she lived that long) trapped and hidden away from anything and everything she ever loved for the sake of what she believed was right for her tribe, _because_ she loved her tribe, and nobody knows about it or what her ultimate fate was. I'm fine 🥲👍 (Also, I've spent the past hour & a half+ writing this and I've yet to actually finish the video, but I feel it must be said that your study case so far is delightful! I was genuinely surprised to glance down and see [even with the very recent release] the lack of interaction/a higher subscriber count given the quality. The specifications around things like the chemical warfare account are a bit funky given that SandWing venom is as natural and expected as fire breath, but eh, a line technically needs to be drawn somewhere; the details of which can be debated. Even with the occasional minuscule side ramble [which I didn't find to detract all that much anyway], you kept it concise and to the point and very clearly segmented. Nicely done!)

That section was written months before the Guide came out, but I had a sneaking suspicion that there was foul play, and it turns out I was right. But since at the time there was no evidence I couldn’t count it, but it definitely counts now. Thank you so much for the kind words, these kinds of comments warm my heart. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video!

@@dinoboystudios332 I had wondered, especially since that book only came out two months ago and you've been working on this video for something like two _years._ And yeah, given that nobody knew what exactly had happened to Monarch, it's no surprise that Wasp had done something about her (because total submission wasn't enough, apparently). I'm glad I could encourage you somewhat with this! And yes, the rest of it was rather insightful, too. Well done :)

Originally the video was supposed to be out on Oct 10th, with the guide only releasing a few days before that, so I decided to not worry about it, and kind of kept that mentality despite the delays on the video. So that’s the weird reason why the Guide wasn’t mentioned. If I ever make a follow up to this video I’ll definitely talk about the Guide.

Use of chemical weapon is bit tricky. Because the reason why chemical weapon is banned is because it cause unnecessary harm and suffering, while most importantly being dangerous and uncontrollable. While things like tear gas is banned, it is because it can be confused with other chemical weapons and as result trigger equivalent relation with actual chemical weapons. So the context is extremely important. Anyway. Chemical solutions what can cause fast and rapid death and lack proper alternative. Like for example flame throwers are generally not banned, despite close definition. Anyway, tranquilliser darts generally also aren't. Even if they can cause damage, but less then actual bullet or blade. Anyway, as use of chemical weapon I would include only cases when death is caused indiscriminately, like with burning of guard post. When it is used with intend of causing suffering, despite available alternative. But not all cases of use of chemical weapons, like for example poison blade what kill someone before he was brutally smashed to the ground. Nay be even considered as form of mercy, until it has some unnecessary effects. Anyway, this is complicated issue in context of fantasy.

You bring up some very interesting points. Chemical warfare was definetly the hardest part of the crimes to narrow down, because there was just so much that could classify as chemical warfare depending on how you interpret it, like you said about Hivtur's death. I decided to include everything that used some sort of poison or venom since that seemed like a good baseline. Orignally I wasn't going to include the sleeping darts until my friend made the very good argument: "What if a flying dragon was shot with a sleeping dart, causing them to crash and die?"

I think the treatment of Webs' as yet unnamed wife and son, Riptide, should also qualify as war crimes. If not 'collective punishment' of non-combatants for crimes they did not commit, then certainly the manner in which his wife was coerced to take part in the war (you mentioned the point, generally, but not this instance specifically) and she is essentially sentenced to death for his crime.

I think counting any of the Dragons' natural weapons as chemical warfare doesn't make too much sense (even if they technecally fall under this category). Sandwing venon, was to be expected just as much as fire. Rainwing venom was not expected (and also therefor not banned) by most tribes, it was to be expected by the nightwings (who it was mainly used against), so they should both be fine? Not sure about throwing coals, but I guess.... I don't think the guardhouse scene if chemical warfare, it probably is killing those who have surrendered For Battlewinner: I don't think what happened to her was intentional and ice breath has mulelated in many ways many times, so either you count it or not. For sleeping darts: nobody knew they existed, so they coul not be banned and they cause about the opposite of unnecessary suffering But I totally give you Animus magic, Dragonbite vipers and dragonflame cacti (and torching the orthanage) (haven't read arc 3, so no idea on those) There were a lot of child soilgers, but I'd say not as many as you listed, since it would only be fair to lower the age from 15 to 7. Sorry for my spelling and great video

For chemical warfare I decided to include SandWing venom just because. It is an exception to the rule stated in the video, but I honsetly just wanted to see how many times the SandWings used their venom. The NightWings only found out about the RainWing venom after Vengence got attacked by Splendor, and the RainWings were never offically part of the war. This does make me realize however, that there is a valid argument to be made for not counting RainWing venom during their fights with the NightWings because the NWs knew. Different points of views on things are awsome. The guard house scene was very much chemical warfare since the NightWings were blocking the soldiers from escaping, letting them die to the flames. Battlewinner's internal damage was included to be a completionist, but I understand if you don't count it since we have no idea of the specifics on how she got it. In my opinon the sleeping darts definetly count, even if nobody knew about them. I was orignally on the fence about when writing, but my friend made the best argument: "What if a flying dragon was shot with a sleeping dart, causing them to crash and die?" I did come to the conclusion that 7 was the age of maturity in the dragon world, but I guess I forgot about it when writing the song. Whoops. Your spelling is excellent and thank you for enjoying the video!

@@dinoboystudios332 about sleeping darts on flying Dragons: As we see in Winter turning with Icecle it is possible to resist a sleeping dart for quite some time (and she sould have been pretty voundrable, not having slept in days). This should give more then enough time to land savely. The way I read the definition you put on screen, it should be allowed, as long as it is on no ban list (which it can't be, since nobody knew it existed) and it doesn't cause unnececarry suffering (which it doesn't)

I have a things I would like to point out: There are two instances of referenced “eloping” in reference to Smolder’s relationship with Palm Sara’s Cactus Bomb would probably be on the list because it is a vengeance killing for a war death, and what makes it even worse is that both the killer and the victim were child soldiers Snowfall’s confrontation with the Pantala immigrants would possibly count because it is related to the war, and putting citizens in danger

Dragonets mature and become dragons at age 8, which means peril is the ONLY main pov character to be a matured dragon, with moon being the youngest at 4 years old. 4. Years. Old. Every wof main pov is in the age range of four to eight years.
