I used to like it because it wasn't featured in much back in the day. In Rouge Squadren 64 it wasn't available. So it had mystery status. Now that I'm older I'm more into the TIE Avenger or the TIE Defender. B-Wings pack punch but they can't fight for shite.

cant imagine how hard itll be to pilot tho, literally half of the ship is out of view from the cockpit, imagine trying to fly in narrow spaces like that

@@billross9132 If I recall correctly, the B-Wing was designed as more of a weapons platform to take on cruisers rather than a fighter. If so, I'd imagine there wouldn't be a ton of tight maneuvering. My head cannon is a line of them just unloading on a larger ship.

The original T65 X-Wing fighter from the Original Trilogy will always be my favorite Rebel Starfighter.

The x-wing the y-wing the A-wing and the B-wing are 4 of my favorite rebels ships in star wars

I LOVED the snowspeeder. Didn’t know it’s designation T-47 until these channels, but I got one for Christmas 1980 (6yo) and I probably played with that way more than Luke’s X-Wing or Vader’s Tie Fighter.

While it looks cool onscreen, it was very slow. A Y-Wing or B-Wing squadron could’ve get the job done on taking down that Dreadnaught

@@isaackim7675 maybe. It takes a lot to take down a Dreadnaught, while the Heavy Bomber could do it in one attack, it would've take the Y-Wing a lot, and B-Wing a few runs.

The Y-Wing will always be my favorite Rebel startfighter. The K-Wing is another favorite of mine. I really love the Rebel heavy bombers. Just not the Resistance Bomber, that one was dumb. And an interesting thing I never knew was the existence of the BTL-S3. But now I know that it was the bomber used in the OG Battlefront games for the Rebels as it had 2 seats in game for the pilot and gunner.

If you go with the WW2 inspiration for the dogfights then (British) the X-wing is the Supermarine Spitfire and the Y-wing is the Fairey Battle. The A-wing is the Gloster Meteor and the B-wing the Hawker Typhoon. American would be North American Mustang, Martin B-10, Lockheed Lightning and Republic Thunderbolt.

The V-Wing is a very different ship than the airspeeder from those games. Still, I could see it returning to Canon under a different name.

Red Five producers on KZread channel missed one Star Wars fighter named "I-Wing" that is similar to "X-Wing" but without the "X-Wing" flight configuration this "I-Wing" has only a single wing between cockpit with only one yellow beamed laser cannon on each wing and has only two engines compared to "X-Wing" four engines. "I-Wing" model was a outdated recon-patrol ship without hyperdrive and was a rebel recruit practice spacecraft for rebel space flight school.

The purpose of the s foils on the x wing was to dissipate heat from the lasers. You wouldn't move the engines just to give a wider spread. It's been a while but I believe some expanded universe content like Rogue Squadron states this.

My head-cannon is that the Y-wing was a response to the blockade of Naboo. Its job was to go from the surface of a planet to pointing up, go as fast as possible, attack large ships, then get back home. A planetary defense fighter/attack ship optimized for a specific kind of mission, then adapted by the rebels because it was old and so available to them at the time.

The snow speeder is just too iconic not to mention, it’s cool af with those harpoons

The BTL-A4 is canonically confirmed to be a stripped down heavily modified BTL-B.

I thought it was the BTL-A4 not the BTY-A4 for the Y-Wing.

I love the reaction of Agent Kallus, in "Star Wars: Rebels," when Hera arrives in the prototype B-Wing "Blade" and annihilates one of the blockading imperial heavy cruisers. I had a "B-Wing" toy-vehicle when I was a kid. Loved the way it maneuvered. Very unique amongst action-play vehicles from any series, Star Wars or other.

One you missed? The T-Wing. If you're going by Legends, the Rebels meant to replace the A-Wing with these, but they were such krud that the Reels sold them off to whoever was happy to pay for them. Still better fighters than the Starfortress, I hate those things.

The E-Wing began as an Imperial prototype fighter. The planet they were being built on defected and joined the the New Republic. They were rushed into production before all the bugs were worked out.

Although I was hoping that the R60 T-wing interceptor would be included in the end

Several other missing entries too, but again mostly more older stuff, Z-95's and such.

My personal favorite is the B-Wing, because I've always favored a "one shot kill" mentality on harder targets, and they definitely do the job.

I love the look of the U-Wing and T-70 X-Wing the most, and in line with the original aim of Star Wars (Aesthetics over Practicality), are my favorites overall. Would love to see an explanation on the Old Republic-era starfighters, from both the Republic and the Sith Empire. I've not played much of SWTOR, but I remember seeing there being like 12 different ships for each, with maybe a range of selections for loadouts, IIRC. 3 each for Fighter, Interceptor, Bomber, and Gunship roles.

you forgot the V-wing airspeeder only seen in Star Wars: rogue squadron on the N64. Was a cool Fighter that had boosters that would blast you away from enemy encounters.

It would be cool if you do a Clone Wars-Era Republic Starfighters as well as other Republic-Era Starfighters in separate video essays. As well as Mandalorian, CIS, and Sith-Imperial Starfighters (Cannon or Legends). All within your time of course.

Resistance fighter, republic fighter and other rebel and resistance ship like cruisers and frigate would be cool to see in another video

Other reasons the rebels chose to remove the armor shell from the Y-Wing. Better fuel efficiency Better maneuverability Better speed The rebels are a guerilla warfare hit and run group. They use their scouts to find a under guarded imperial facility and have to get their bombers there, hit the target and get the heck out of dodge before reinforcements show up, hopefully without encountering much heavy return fire. The extra speed and maneuverability gained from removing the armor shell also allowed the Y-Wing to better fly in formation with the other faster rebel ships. And since the Y-Wing already sports a good shield generator the rebels found the heavy armor unnecessary for their needs. As well as the mentioned easy access for repairs. They sure look cool with the armor shell though!

I would love to hear more about the Z-95 Headhunter since it's the defacto Father of the X-Wing ^^

As much as i love the Y-wing, i have to go with the B-wing. If i have to choose one ship i must pilot, it's the B-wing. I'm not one for speed, and the B-wing is one of the slower ships the rebels had, so it's only right that i am to fly a B-wing. I don't need much protection myself, because i'm a big guy, but a successful bombing run relies on protection from enemy fighters, by allied fighters, and i do know how to crack a serious punch, especially when it's time to deal out a hard hit. Even if the MG-100 is a better ship for me, i would still rather fly a B-wing, because i'm not much for teamwork, so i would rather sit in a single seat B-wing than to fly and command a MG-100

One question I’ve had for awhile now. The “A-wing” we see in Rebels isn’t the same as the A-wing from return of the Jedi. Evidenced by the different looking cannons at the least. Was it meant to be the R-22 Spearhead or an earlier version of the A-wing? If so it wouldn’t be an RZ-1 so I’m wondering what its designation was?

@@TheMrPeteChannel I mean, it's fiction as well and some of the variants have been depicted differently without it being a new variant, while others were depicted differently and the fans / secondary product writers and such made that different depiction into a new variant. Like the Tector ISD was actually just a production error, but then became an official variant after massive fan-base speculation and subsequent publication of it as the Tector.

The A-Wing destroys all the other ships no problem and it's definitely my favorite ship hands down. In a very close second place is the B-Wing

@@paulsteinhauser434 Those make more sense than the Delta 7, IIRC that one was like "Jedi only" due to an almost total lack of many secondary systems that the Jedi just force-sensed.

The Alliance had the ARC 170, V-Wings, ETA 2 interceptors, even the Bellbulab 22.

A-wing, the latest version RZ-2. I’m guessing no hyperdrive? Does it have shields? The X-wing Advanced Heavy is prolly my second favorite. I wonder if there’s a version with a somewhat shorter nose? I could never sit right feeling the nose was too long and skinny to be visually balanced. Maybe the T-65C-A2 fits if the cutaway was accurate. I wouldn’t be hurt if I was assigned the T-85, either.

I grwe up with the X-Wing as much as anybody. But realistically, the BTL-S3 Courier is the sort of thing I'd want for a personal ship, even as a civilian, especially if I could give it some plating.

It’s a shame though since you mentioned the Snow Speeder you didn’t mention the V-Wing like the Snow Speeder it was a atmospheric fighter but despite that it was a fast and powerful fighter it lacked shields but it made up for it in speed and maneuverability.

The RZ-1T is NOT a variant of the RZ-1. The A-Wings in Star Wars: Rebels are R-22 Spearheads, and so the "RZ-1T" is in fact a two-seater variant of the R-22.
