Every Sega Genesis Horror Game | A Mega Tour in 16-bit Terror

Ойындар

Let’s look at EVERY horror game released for the Sega Genesis & Mega Drive! Over 50 games covered here including briefly glossing over some adjacent sub-genres like dark fantasy and sci-fi bio-horror action. Homebrew horror games are not included this time, but I may give them their own feature soon! Same goes for Sega CD & 32X!

Most game footage was recorded on real hardware using a Sega Genesis with Component output and upscaled with a Retrotink 5x, with a few exceptions requiring an emulator to run properly.

Splatterhouse 3 was the only game as a kid that scared me. It was those cut scenes that did it. I rented it so many times, regardless. I still think of the "Jennifer smells of rot...of the grave" scene all the time. I never made it past that point as a child, haha.

I actually have a weird little memory of Splatterhouse 3 or a game like it. I Dunno if I rented a romhack copy of it from the store as a kid or maybe some knock off but I remember several details that are different from any version of 3 I can find online.

This video brought back so many memories of the early 2000s when I started diving into emulation to experience the many games I missed out on while growing up! Thank you for helping me put a name on Zombie High, which I ran into while testing out various MegaDrive ROMs back then and couldn’t remember the name of, besides “this looks like a Zombies Ate My Neighbours side scroller”.😊🙇‍♂️ I also remember spending hours trying to beat The Haunting’s pretty unfair last boss or progressing in The Ooze’s increasingly challenging levels.

I thought to myself “this voice sounds familiar…” then saw the name. Thanks for sharing here on YT as well! (Not just TTV) I need to give some of these a go.

Mate your a legend for showing these games. As growing up was poor, couldn't afford most of it. But emulation has brought the joys of real games back.
