From the days when the BBC attempted to play ITV at their own game, except with much less disposable cash. In "Blankety Blank", the prizes were ridiculed. In this instance, a thin-as-gruel format is spun out to fill half an hour. The game does not actually begin until almost ten minutes in. When did audience research ever reveal that viewers could give a monkey's about spending that long dwelling on the contestants' lives?

The audience needed some baxkground info to know who to root for or hate. 1/3 of the show spent on that is too much though.
