I mean...it's all on discogs anyway. It has much better credits data base than genius, so it's not that hard to find those things and make a video. On the other hand editing and finding all those videos is indeed a great work by bandstand.

Yeah, once you build up enough sample knowledge, you kind of notice a lot of breaks and samples often used in hip hop.

The way they flipped the vocal part of “since I left you” is INSANE you can’t hear the original guitar at all it makes it fit an entire new context, sampling is so awesome

I just cannot wrap my head around this album. Endtroducing broke the mould of an 'all sampled' album and it *is* great... but Since I Left You is just something else. The intricacy of the sampling and how it's all carefully weaved together is just utterly bonkers.

A vision and a lot of time. Albums like SILY are extraordinarily rare; while The Avalanches still make some good music, nothing they'll ever make will have the sheer level of cohesion, detail and richness as their magnum opus again.

I have to say that the visual sampling in this video is nearly as impressive as the sampling on the album!

I don't know what's more impressive. The Avalanches sampling these tracks or you amassing the tracks they've sampled. This is an incredibly well-done video and thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hey, man, sincerely beautiful video. Everything about it was flawless from the tight editing, the passionate effort to make this, and the more-than-perfect footage of general nostalgic ephemera, human experience, unabashed dancing, and other spot-on appropriate visuals throughout the video. This is the most impeccable love letter to SILY that I've ever encountered. It truly shows that you without a doubt have some of the best understanding of what this music is all about and why we all love it so. I don't mean to get too cheesy but this genius video really had a huge emotional effect on me as I too have deep connections with this record, band, etc. Anyways, truly phenomenal work. Cheers.

This is pretty much the best-produced album in history. Nothing like this will ever be done again in contemporary pop music for a long while.

I don't know why but this video makes me really emotional. I think it's partly the work that went into and partly how beautiful and intricate the sampling is. This is seriously one of the most genius albums I've ever listened to.

I've never listened to this album and still decided to see this and its insane how natural these sound to the point where it sounds like only 4 or 5 samples being meshed together. Its pretty much daft punk's face to face for a whole album

It's honestly even crazier than FTF on each song. Considering there was quite literally over 3 THOUSAND unique little tid-bits used as samples I'd say FTF covers not even a 10th of what one SILY song could. Also go listen to the full thing, I don't recommend albums much but this one is a MUST listen.

Somehow this makes one of the greatest albums ever even better!!!!!

This is probably one of the best videos on this whole site, and I mean that with no exaggeration. I think Paris would've loved it. The dissection of Frontier Psychiatrist was my favorite part, I can't imagine how long that song alone took you. I wish "With My Baby" was included, but I can see you had enough on your plate as is! Cheers to you for all this fantastic work man. On a side note, I just wanted to ask, what were the 3 recently found samples you mentioned in the intro?

As others, I find this video great - thanks to it, i started to see, how the work of The Avalanches on this album was hard and beautiful. They are geniuses, like DJ Shadow on "Endtroducing..."

Hate to add another generic "This is wonderful" comment, but...this is wonderful. You've made the internet a better place. Your 280 hours of editing and sourcing labor is quite a gift for us Avalanches fans.

I love the thought that when the artists and bands made the original songs they had no idea that later some guy would pick up their records and create something much much bigger and more beautiful than the sum of their parts. They could never have imagined a 3 second loop of their music would change the direction of folks lives.

This is incredible. I have to say that the Avalanches are easily my favorite artist with Since I Left You being my favorite album. It's kind of cool that you talked in the beginning of how you became an Avalanches fan and esp3cially about your friend Paris. I first heard of the Avalanches with their song Frontier Psychiatrist since I heard on a couple of KZread videos in like 2010. I didn't really research them up much until I heard that song again in 2015 when I saw the Music Videos for both Frontier Psychiatrist and Since I Left You. They were so amazing and it left me with a feeling (A Different Feeling, if you will.) the next day. I then went on to search up other songs from that album and got hooked. It was ironic that the moment I finally became a full Avalanches fan was when they announced making Wildflower. Even though I don't listen to them as frequently as I did before, they are easily the most influential artists for me. They're the reason I could dig into other talented artists (Dj Shadow, J Dilla) and started listening to music again since I wasn't really a music fan at the time. They are even the reason I started making videos, since I always wanted to make a sample video of Since I Left You but I didn't know every sample in the album which I felt would be a disservice to them. Thus video makes me so happy to not only realise that there are more Avalanches fans but that their music is appreciated with the respect and hard work the band deserve for making this album. tl;Dr: The Avalanches are better than food.

The sheer amount of sampling in this had me surprised. I've greatly enjoyed Since I Left You in the past never knowing the sampling was so extensive. Excellent work introducing us all to it!

This is my favourite album of all time !! Love the video , had the privilege to see the avalanches last week and it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to !!

It's absolutely brilliant. This album has been one of my favs of all time for almost 15 years, and this is like experiencing it in a whole new way. It's the one album I can honestly say I hear something new every time I play it, and listening to it on acid with a good pair of speakers or headphones... life affirming.. thanks, dude! 🙏👍🏼

the best thing about being an Aussie is that I was raised on this album. born in 1999 and it's stayed with me up until adulthood and probably for many more years.

One of the most gorgeous videos on youtube. Almost better than the album because it provides an amazing collage to go along.

Great video , really interesting. Love Frontier Psychiatrist . Was just watching the video and came across yours. Amazing to think it's mostly samples. and the rest of their tunes on that album. I work in advertising and often buy tracks from publishers. I'd say these tracks would be a nightmare to licence.
