A compilation of every public railway crossing on the Sunbury line. At this point the Sunbury line has 5 public active crossings and 1 non public crossing. The Sunbury line has some of my favorite crossings as although they are metro, the location makes them feel regional which I find very interesting.
LXRA are going to remove the Gap Rd railway crossing in Sunbury by 2022 so I also wanted to get footage of that.
Crossing Info:
Calder Park Drive, Calder Park
This crossing can be see from the Hume Freeway and sits near the Calder Park raceways as the name suggests. Is has generally normal equipment, Westinghouse LED lights and Safetran gate mechs. Recently it was upgraded with GS Type 3 E Bells as well
Holden Rd, Calder Park
This crossing is situated behind a rest stop on the side of the freeway and I really enjoy the location of this crossing.
This crossing has identical equipment to the previous crossing however the bells are still GS Type 1 Adjusted
Old Calder Highway, Diggers Rest
This crossing is situated right next to Diggers Rest Station and used to be on the main highway through the area. This crossing also has identical equipment to Holden Rd however its signal arrangement is very interesting and the track has a sharp angle to the road. Before the line was electrified, this crossing had a cantilever on the south side as well.
Watsons Rd, Diggers Rest
This crossing is in between Sunbury and Doggers Rest, in a very quiet area. Equipment is the same. Up until recently this crossing was missing a crossbuck on the eastern side.
Gap Rd, Sunbury
This crossing is right in the centre of Sunbury and is on a large connector for the two halves of the area. This crossing is interesting as it has 4 gated signals instead of just two. Some of the plastic coverings for the light are broken. This crossing is also being removed in the next year or two with work starting later this year.
