It's criminal that War Journal and War Zone have never seen omni format, the Carl Potts/Jim Lee stuff were some of his most classic badass stories ever but Marvel only ever seem focused on re-printing the Ennis stuff.

The Punisher deserves more material from the 90s with the Omnibus or HC Oversized’s treatment .... I expect with the current exposure from the Netflix series we’ll get more material from that era ....

My first punisher comic was punisher volume 3 and I loved it. Barracuda was funny and insane. The slavers story was disturbing and cool. I was amazed by the artwork in the slavers story.

Which would you advice me to choose between these ones to approach the character ? I would love to begin with Ennis's punisher, cause I've heard a lot of good opinions about him, but I don't know if it would be the best option. Thanks and big up for the channel, amazing content.

So there's no omnibus/omnibi collecting all of his 80's comic books like his self-titled book or Warzone? You say the volume 3 is one of the more expensive ones and I can see why; it has the Slavers storyline which is probably the most well known Punisher story since Welcome Back, Frank.

I love punisher circle of blood by steve grant mike zeck and mike vosburg and punisher war journal by carl potts and jim lee both amazing reads

I have a fan theory regarding Punisher MAX that goes into the original marvel comic run. Spoiler alert if you haven't read Wolverine Origins or Punisher MAX Born. Wolverine Origins introduced a character that essentially was the mastermind for the creation of Wolverine, Deadpool, Omega Red, Daken, Sabretooth, etc.. His name was Romulus and he was the first human-like creature as well as the true first mutant with telepathic abilities, claws, and a healing factor to ever be created. What if The Punisher was another weapon Romulus helped to create. Throughout the Punisher MAX: Born series Castle was talking to a certain entity within himself goading him into becoming what he eventually will become. It came to a head at the end when he accepted the offer and he inhumanly killed three dozen Vietnamese soldiers while soaking up seven bullets. At the end this entity says that he will grant Castle his wish, but there will be a cost, hence the splash page of Castle's family. What I'm getting at is what if Romulus was that entity and the actual mastermind that killed Castle's family from the shadows? As well as pulling his strings like he did with all the other weapons throughout their lives the same way. Idk but I think its a pretty awesome theory. Depending on how well you know the Romulus character.

I took it as a deal with the devil as well or possibly Frank becoming so shellshocked he began talking to himself to that extent. It kinda bothered me how Ennis never mentioned or explained this later on in the run, but the thing that stuck out to me was the entity saying Frank won't hear from him again or remember the past conversations, so that debunks the shellshock theory... I can't see Frank being that crazy. Also why would the devil wipe his mind? He has no reason to... Frank can't get to him... Or hurt him... It sounds to me like an entity in the physical realm, on Earth, afraid of Frank finding out and hunting him down after Frank puts two and two together.

Thank god I hope he sticks to MAX... He most likely will, due to his hate for regular marvel. I haven't read Platoon either, but I doubt he'll explain it other than the devil since he hates similar marvel powered characters in his books. But hey, I could be wrong. I'd just be happy if he revives the MAX run with Platoon or future punisher books which may be a stretch in itself.

Thanks, it'd be awesome if he could reboot the MAX-verse after war stories, making Punisher similar to Netflix's punisher, with him being an Afghan vet and younger. It would be cool if Ennis and Robertson do that Punisher series, Daken being a Kirkman and Hitch series, with Moon Knight and Cage both being a Bendis series.

Thomas Garrison whoa Bendis switched to DC? When did he? And yeah I liked Leandro's artwork also... It kinda took a while for me to get used to in Kitchen Irish,(which I now kinda blame the colorist for) but I ended up loving it in later stories.

I'm reading the list by marvel in tp. spoiler "wolverine kills the hell out of punisher" he chops his head off and cuts him in half. does that mean punisher is dead for real or is it just that books version? thx for the review, he's kind of cool.

I can't afford omnibus for everything so I usually get the essentials for 10 dollars and if I really like the run i pick up a epic collection/ omnibus

Your welcome brotha. Wish I owned some punisher omnibuses. I've gotten 5 books from you're reviews.

Punisher is my favorite marvel character but I don’t dig any of the illustrators style, other than the first omnibus because it’s a classic vintage style. The last 6 max volumes illustration look ok at best, just don’t feel like none of the illustrators haven’t gotten it right with punisher yet 🤷‍♂️

FYI must say own all, but the great marvel knights sadly missing 11 issues i recall, as i own i got lucky they were an ebay lot cheap! but they fir! to be complete not in omni as 11 issues written by another shoulda been in this but maybe greed? don't know know garth changed my man punisher for best, the b/white volumes of ongoing punisher essential should be here huge books essential makes cheap em n black white but eacy own then got all think $100 but trying buy epic collection ones as those are in color....harder get these days....essential like all hulk b n w glad got still....of ongoing a jim lee book 1-19 (not the 1-9 version! as covers are same!) must own punisher war journal where they give him that iconic rambo like white then red head band!!!.............i like the marvel knights crazy tpb punisher purgatory demonic angel type shit punisher had these god gods bad ass fun man!!!.............Marvel Knights Defenders of the Streets kicks ass too man DD/punisher so on..., MARVEL KNIGHTS 20TH tpb w punisher DD elektra...worth owning too, shit cosmic ghost rider is punisher!! worth owning in thanaos wins and 1-5 cgrider baby thanos must die!..............punisher wolverine collection tpb all the old school mini runs of punisher vs or teams w wolverine great book!!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
